Chapter 27 - 27: Dinner

Sloan

I don't usually do this, but after news of my almost poisoning incident spread across the palace, my father sent for me and requested I have dinner with them. Of course, I refused, till my grandfather sent for me himself. Which is why I'm currently seated around the large dining table, right in front of my father and grandfather, over a large feast.

I don't want to be here right now, but I don't like refusing my grandfather.

"Are you hurt? Are you sure you didn't drink the tea at all?" My grandfather asked from across the table and I gave a tense nod, reaching for my glass of wine to down half the content.

"I didn't. I'm fine." I breathed out in response.

My father didn't look happy. He was frowning. One would think he was worried about me, but I knew it was the complete opposite.

"It's a good thing you weren't poisoned. I only have one son, what would happen to the throne if you had taken that tea?" He muttered and I rolled my eyes. Of course he was only worried about his damn throne.

I remained silent, and after a few minutes, he continued, his eyes on me as he spoke.

"That reminds me, Sloan, your bride is arriving in four days." He announced and I instantly grew tense and irritated.

"You'll welcome her once she arrives and you'll have to spend time with her to get to know her and…"

He was still speaking when I rolled my eyes and cut him off. "Why are you telling me all these? It's none of my business, and I already told you I want nothing to do with it." I breathed out and as expected, a scowl appeared across my father's face.

He was about to say something when my grandfather nudged him. He still attempted to say something but finally relented and chose to down his glass of wine instead. When my grandfather focused on me, he had a warm smile on.

"What do you say, Sloan? I'm gonna have a boy sent over to you for the night. You'll be able to loosen up, cause I'm sure you've been very stressed out today." He suggested and I hummed.

He wasn't wrong about the stress. I was very stressed out throughout today, because Lilac was still yet to wake up. But at least he was breathing and the doctor assured me he was fine when I sent for him again.

Right now, I couldn't even imagine myself fucking anyone.

Since the first day the boy came to clean my room, I hadn't been able to stop thinking about him. And right now. I was too worried about him to even think of fucking anyone.

"Thank you, grandfather but I'll have to decline the offer." I spoke this time and my grandfather nodded in understanding.

"Of course, child."

Beside him, my father huffed and rolled his eyes. "You have to stop indulging him this way, father. It's bad. This urge he has, it's not normal."

My grandfather only laughed. "Leave the kid be."

After that, my grandfather's gaze focused on me as he spoke. "So, I heard the slave who served you was the one that took the hit of the poison, hm?"

I gave a tense nod, a bleak feeling settling in my stomach.

"That's beyond awesome! This is why it's good to have these slaves try anything first before we eat it." He continued while that bleak feeling worsened.

I remained silent even as I wanted to argue right now and tell him that I didn't like that the slave took the hit in my place. I didn't like it at all and I'd have liked to take the hit myself, I was certain it wouldn't kill me anyway, and my body was definitely strong enough to handle that poison compared to the human's fragile one.

"I'd definitely like to see that slave, the one who took the hit instead. He has been sent back to the slave quarters, right?" He asked and I instantly tensed up.

"He hasn't." I responded flatly.

At once, my grandfather and father sat up, staring at me closely.

"He's not?" My grandfather echoed and I tensely nodded.

"Yes. He's still in my room."

"What? Why?" My grandfather asked and I huffed and rolled my eyes, already over the whole question.

"How's that possible though? I'm certain his scent blockers must have worn off by now, how can you still tolerate his scent? And last I heard, you don't let anyone in your bed… so, how is this slave…"

I sighed and got to my feet.

"I'm leaving now if that is all. Thanks for the dinner." I muttered as I pushed my chair back and stepped away from the table. My father and grandfather were on their feet at once as well.

"Will you be able to stay in your room with the slave' scent filling the air? I'll send a guard to have him transferred…" my grandfather offered but I shook my head.

"That won't be necessary. Now, if you'll excuse me…"

"But…" my father began and I sighed.

"The boy would be staying with me in my bedroom till he's fine." I revealed and as expected, silence stretched out in the dining room. I didn't plan to let them know, but I wasn't exactly hiding it.

"How is that possible?" My grandfather wondered aloud.

"He's hurt because of me, so he'll stay with me till he's okay." I breathed out, knowing damn well that it was more than that. I already decided that he was gonna stay with me till he's fully okay so I wouldn't loose my mind while worrying about him. It was what my beast wanted, it was what I also wanted. Currently, his scent has already filled up every inch of my room, making my room feel 'right' for the first time.

So, he was gonna stay with me till further notice, and that was final.

"Is this because you want to fuck the boy? And that's if you haven't already started?" My father snapped, his disgust starkly obvious and I let out a sigh, reaching up to massage my forehead.

"Whatever I chose to do with the boy is none of your concern, so I see no reason why you should be questioning me right now." I bit out sharply, hackles already rising. Everything concerning Lilac was keeping me on edge since the moment he got poisoned.

"If you keep that attitude up, I might have to kill the boy. If he's your latest fascination, then perhaps losing him would finally teach you some manners towards your own father…"
