Chapter 32 - Yi, Li Yi

"Make way, idiot!" One of the security guards grunted as he saw Yi standing between him and the annoying man he wanted to hit until he could no longer cry.

"Just because he played hero for a bit doesn't mean you can do it too!" He shouted, completely ignoring Xiao Lao.

She seemed too scared to move before, so why should she be a threat now?

"Why don't you leave now?" Yi asked.

"Leave? You think we will just let this go? The police should arrive soon, and this man and your sister will be responsible for causing a ruckus in the club. Now let me get through to him. I need to beat him up!"

"Well," Yi took out his newly acquired smartphone and played a video. It was a video of everything that happened, starting from Ling Chuse chasing after Xiao Lao and screaming that she could not leave.

"What do you think of that?" he asked the security guards.

"You recorded it?" Ling Chuse was the first one to realize the damage that could be done to his image.

"Seize the phone! Now!"

The remaining security guards stormed towards Yi wildly. This video was not just a detriment for Ling Chuse, but also for the club itself.

"No killing," Yi said out loud.

"Hahaha, don't worry, we will not kill..." The guards laughed but suddenly flew and landed on the opposite wall.

One after another flew, but nobody could react; the movements of Xiao Lao were just too quick.

The young man, barely holding on to his consciousness, saw the scene and closed his eyes. Everyone was safe.

"Hey! Wake up!" He heard the voice of a woman.

The young man slowly opened his eyes, ready for a painful awakening, but surprisingly his body felt light. It felt even more powerful than before.

"Is this the fighting spirit?" he mumbled.

"No, it's not," Xiao Lan answered. "Now get up, my mas... friend wants to talk to you."

Yi had warned her that master and disciple were uncommon in this world, so she should address him as something else when outsiders were present.

The young man got up quickly as he realized who the voice belonged to. "Why didn't you run?" he asked.

"Why would I?" Xiao Lan just retorted.

The young man, surprised by the emotionless rebuttal, just gave up on convincing her for now. He still didn't realize that it was she who took out the guards. In his mind it was just a blur, something unclear that took them out.

"Oh, you are awake?" Yi asked.

"Talk to this police member first; I will wait for you," he said and walked towards Xiao Lao.

The young man looked around and suddenly realized that the police had long since arrived. Guards were examined for serious injuries, but only the one that fell against the wall was brought to a hospital.

Is it over? He thought. Won't they charge me? Will I end up in prison? We didn't know, but fear grabbed him, and every step towards the female police worker felt harder as he got more and more nervous.

"Hello, my name is Lao Bing. I'm in charge of the investigation here," the young policewoman introduced herself. "Although the video evidence answers most of our questions, we would still like to briefly question you regarding this incident."

The young man answered every question truthfully, including his motive for intervening, making Lao Bing praise him.

The questioning went by quickly, and the young man felt relieved. Everything was fine, thanks to the recording the friend of the woman he tried to save made.

He turned to leave, but Yi and Xiao Lao appeared in front of him.

"Young man, what is your name?" Yi asked.

"Hello, my name is Li Yi. Nice to meet you, and thank you for recording the video," he bowed.

Both Yi and Xiao Lao exchanged glances. This name was quite problematic.

"Hello, I'm Yi, and this is Xiao Lao. Thank you for your courage. You fought well. Are you interested in protecting people?"

"I trained to protect myself; I mainly intend to become stronger until nobody can hurt me. Not on the outside and not on the inside," he said with some emotion. The outside part went quite well, but inside the constant bullying still hurt.

"If you want to strengthen yourself even more, but also strengthen your mind, call me," Yi gave out his number.

"You are someone we could use in our bodyguard company," Yi said.

"Wait, bodyguard company? But I'm still in school."

"Is that a problem?" Yi asked, unsure about the restriction of a school.

"Well, I cannot work full-time, and I only have time after my school is done," he answered.

"I don't quite understand the restrictions, but just come in whenever you don't have school and just train. Did you see what happened to the remaining security guards?"

"Yes, who did that and how?" Li Yi asked in excitement. He really wanted to meet the man that saved the day. Was it someone from the bodyguard company?

"It was her," Yi pointed at Xiao Lao. "If you come to training within our company, you would be able to do the same soon," Yi advertised.

"You?" Yi Li pointed at Xiao Lao. "Then the whole time I fought, you could have just saved yourself?"

"Yes! You just wasted some time," Xiao Lao sneered. Still unconvinced on why her master would want to make this guy a bodyguard for them.

Then, I didn't change anything?

"You still did good. What if Xiao Lao was just an ordinary woman?" Yi said while giving Xiao Lao a look to shut up. "Like I said, call my number and work for us. You won't regret it," Yi said and vanished without a trace, leaving Li Yi dumbfounded.

In the end he left the scene shortly after. He headed home while the sun started to rise once more. Arriving at the apartment he and his parents rented, he opened the door to see his worried mother sprinting at him.

After consoling her and promising he would never stay out this late again, he showered and went to bed. Luckily his mother couldn't see any bruises. Weirdly enough, he didn't even have any.

He thought back on Yi and Xiao Lao, combined with the sudden speed and power displayed by the latter.

He clenched his fist while holding the small note with the phone number tightly. Li Yi was sure this note and this night could change his life forever.
