Chapter 48 - Chapter 47

The Uchiha Clan—

After learning they would be relocated to the outskirts of Konoha, the entire clan erupted in outrage. A few radical members, driven by anger, even began to incite rebellion.

There was a growing sentiment:

If Konoha shows no kindness to Uchiha, don't blame Uchiha for showing no mercy.

However, at the critical moment,

Uchiha Shisui, known as the strongest genjutsu user of the clan, stepped forward.

He worked tirelessly to persuade the Uchiha leaders and reassured the clan that he would attempt to negotiate with Konoha's higher-ups.

In the end,

Uchiha Fugaku, though full of bitterness, still placed a glimmer of hope in Shisui.

Clenching his teeth, he gave the order to relocate.

Thus, the Uchiha clan and the Konoha Military Police were moved to the area designated by the village's leadership.

And so—

With the relocation of the Uchiha complete,

the final tasks of cleaning up after the Nine-Tails' Rebellion were beginning to wrap up.

---

Meanwhile,

in the Land of Rain, a country cloaked in rain year-round—

"Whew..."

In a deep, shadowy cave, a heavy sigh broke the silence.

Moving his body stiffly, Uchiha Obito stretched and said with a low voice:

> "Finally... I've healed. That guy Mizuto was stronger than I expected."

He muttered to himself.

> "The Fourth Hokage—Minato Namikaze—is dead.

Along with the Nine-Tails' jinchūriki—Kushina Uzumaki..."

Hearing these words, a swirl of black and white emerged from the ground.

Among them, Black Zetsu spoke indifferently:

> "The new Nine-Tails jinchūriki is Minato's son—Naruto Uzumaki."

"Dead...?"

Obito frowned.

"Yes," Black Zetsu confirmed in a hoarse voice.

> "With the Fourth Hokage's strength, he could have survived... but he chose death."

A moment of silence passed.

Then Obito's gaze sharpened.

> "Have you found out anything about that mysterious man with the white-bearded mask?"

His voice turned serious.

Black Zetsu's face darkened.

> "We're still investigating. The Akatsuki is looking into it as well.

It's troubling—someone like that hidden in the ninja world, and I wasn't aware of it."

"I have a feeling..." Obito said slowly.

> "That man is hiding in Konoha."

"Impossible,"

White Zetsu interrupted with clear displeasure.

> "My clones are stationed inside Konoha. I haven't sensed anyone like him."

"Maybe he's just very good at hiding," Obito countered.

"Tch. Are you doubting me?" White Zetsu scoffed mockingly.

> "You're the one who changed the plan without permission—attacking Konoha with the Nine-Tails wasn't part of the agreed strategy.

You should be explaining yourself, not questioning us."

Obito snorted coldly and turned away, unwilling to argue further.

He knew White Zetsu's nature: no matter how much you explained, it was useless.

Even Madara Uchiha himself had often been ridiculed by him.

"Enough," Black Zetsu interjected, taking a deep breath.

> "After this battle, Konoha is severely weakened.

We can shift our focus back to the Akatsuki."

For a brief moment, a flicker of unease crossed Black Zetsu's face.

He knew...

If that masked stranger truly belonged to the Ōtsutsuki Clan, then his plans—to resurrect his mother—could be seriously jeopardized.

For now, he could only proceed carefully.

"I'm heading to Kirigakure.

There's someone I want to meet..."

Obito sneered.

With a swirl of space,

he vanished.

"Let's head back to the Akatsuki,"

Black and White Zetsu said, sinking underground and disappearing.

---

Amegakure (Hidden Rain Village)

Atop a towering structure in the center of the village—

"How's the recruitment going?"

asked a cold, puppet-like voice.

Wearing a black cloak with red clouds, black piercings through his nose, and a stoic expression,

Tendo Pain (the Deva Path of Nagato) surveyed the room.

"It's proceeding smoothly,"

replied a woman with light blue-purple hair and calm orange eyes—Konan.

These two were the leaders of the Akatsuki.

Nagato operated Pain's body, while Konan was his trusted partner.

Tendo Pain, in truth, was the reanimated corpse of their late friend, Yahiko.

"Good," Pain nodded.

"There's something else," Konan added emotionlessly.

> "During the Nine-Tails' attack, the Fourth Hokage and his wife died."

"Konoha?"

Pain's voice dripped with disdain.

"And Orochimaru? Has he reacted yet?"

"There's movement," Konan replied calmly.

> "He agreed to join the Akatsuki.

Soon, he'll defect from Konoha officially.

He's hiding with the Wind Demon Clan for now before joining us."

"Excellent," Pain said simply.

Yet despite her cold demeanor, pain flickered in Konan's eyes.

"Nagato..." she asked quietly.

> "Are we really going through with this?

Changing Akatsuki's goals?

Collecting tailed beasts?"

Pain hesitated for a moment before answering firmly:

> "Yahiko's death proved it—

Peace cannot be achieved through dialogue alone."

> "Only through pain and suffering will the world understand.

Only then can true peace be born."

Hearing this, Konan's lips trembled.

The image of Yahiko's tragic smile flashed before her.

In the end, she simply laughed bitterly.

There was no turning back now.

She could only follow Nagato down this path, no matter how dark it became.
