*Dorian Whitehall*
Dorian bolted between trees, weaving his way past the roots and branches in his path, the dragon was roaring loudly at the sight of it's offspring with an arrow in its eye and slowly dieing. It glanced at the humans standing nearby it must have came to a quick conclusion that since we were nearby we must have injured it's baby, dragons are a lot smarter than I thought they were but Wilfred already knew that he thought. Right, so if Wilfred has taken Tartan away, he should be okay but the guilt was still gnawing at him maybe he should have called out to Tartan or just rode over to him, even let him take his horse. But then the voice of Quinton cut through the tree's "Dorian where are you this damn bastarding dragon ain't gonna kill itself" he wasn't referring to me with my proper title, I guess that's just how deep trouble we're in, that he's not referring to my official position. "Ya, down here" he called back. Through the trees he could see Quinton standing looking for him. "Well get up here" Quinton sounded annoyed.
Once Dorian reached Quinton he saw the full destruction of what the dragon had caused. A large crater of a few meters depth, and another hundred wide was lying in the center of the once large great oak forest. "See, my King there isn't much we can do against such a foe" Quinton said staring at the crater in fear and astonishment. I'm done, like what the hell is there a dragon doing here, it would have had to travel hundreds of miles from the Misty Hills to even reach the coast line, then another few hundred or thousand to reach this far in land. And how the fuck did no one see it Dorian thought.
He clenched his sword openly in his right hand, he glanced at Quinton's stoic presence and sighed, he was about to speak when. A low snarling was heard behind them, they both stiffened and shot eachother a knowing glance. No way it's behind us, I'm dead no we're dead Dorian thought. Dorian could feel the sweltering hot breath on his neck, it was starting to burn the flesh there, so he shifted uncomfortably. The dragon bared it's teeth seemingly taken a back by Dorian's movements as if it was contemplating why a human would even dare flinch in front of a great beast such as itself.
Once distracted by Dorian's movements they pounced. Dorian whipped out of the way sliding down the slope, as Quinton swung around and fired an arrow at it's eye. Surely that's a good enough opening he thought. But the dragon turned it's head away at the last moment making the arrow shatter upon impact with the dragon scales. Annoyed the dragon turned it's piercing orange eyes on Quinton, opening it's mouth to let out a torrent of flames. Quinton readied his bow for another shot, but he wouldn't get it off as Dorian pushed him out of the way at the last moment before the flames could engulf him causing them both to tumble down the hillside into some bushes.
"Get up Quinton" Dorian barked holding his sword and looking up and down between Quinton and the dragon. "Fuck it I can't, I think I broke my leg" Quinton winced whilst he said it. No this is bad if he can't move we'll die Dorian thought. But I can't die I'm the King my subjects should be willing to sacrifice themselves for me he thought selfishly what am I thinking I can't leave him here to die, what if it was Tartan, what would I do? I'd... he thought. "I'll draw it away give you time to get away" he said resolute looking up at the dragon. "Alright, but you'll die" Quinton said still struggling to get up. "I know" Dorian said smiling back at Quinton.
Dorian took Quinton's bow and fired an arrow at the dragon and then began running in the opposite direction of where Quinton was laying. His plan seemed to have been working because the dragon was following him. It was big and dark green, but it was old, it's body was covered in scars and one of its bone horns was broken. Dorian kept out of the way of a slice from it's claws he then felt the ground shake all around him and he knew what was happening. In an instance he was flicked aside by the dragon straight through a tree and landing a few hundred meters away. He coughed up blood and still held his sword, he had also been stabbed by a branch of the tree he was thrown through and that blood was covering his tunic and light armor. Is this my end, at least my friends got away safe. But I failed as a heir I didn't have any son's or successors to seat the throne after me, I failed you father he thought. The dragon slowly approached him.
Then it all went white and cold so very cold, he couldn't see a thing. Am I dead? Dorian thought. The air got tighter and it was harder to breathe. A person, a woman appeared before him she wore all white from head to toe and a hooded cloak covered her head. My child are you alright, you're strong she said in a emotionless voice. My child? Dorian thought.Yes Dorian, you are descended from me I was married to Lord James Whitehall just after the time of the Riage Civil War, I can explain it to you sometime other Dorian, just know we're related she said stroking his cheek. Dorian was taken back if she was talking about a Lord James Whitehall and the Civil War? That would make her over two hundred years old, could she be immortal. Two hundred and forty seven years old to be precise she said smiling softly and Yes I'm immortal and my name is Tiria Whitehall formally of House Crane she said. House Crane? he thought puzzled But they've been extinct for- No if I remember correctly the only son of a Lord Crane, went into exile a bit before the time of the Rising of the Phoenix, so I can deduce that you're his daughter, she nodded. But why isn't your house mentioned by folks here? he asked. The reason for that is we now reside in the far east, farther east than even the great Varagan Empire, in a land where mana reigns supreme she added. Mana? Dorian hadn't heard much of what mana was, yes he had heard of it but he only ever heard that a few Coluseum fighters in Rhakr could useit but the way she was speaking would mean that mana is very common in the far east he thought. Yes, my dear mana is indeed very common in the far east, mana involves control over every inch of your body understanding it and using it to guide yourself. But there is four main types of mana manipulation these are Physical type alteration it involves controlling and keeping your mana inside your body to enhance your strength, speed, durability and more. It is also the most common type. The second is Elemental type it involves controlling mana that exists in nature and then using it to create fire, water, wind and more. The third is Enchantments or Caster type it involves using both your own mana and nature's mana to creat chains, shields and more. And the Fourth type is Projection type mana if involves pushing your mana projecting it from your body to basically create or use your own unique abilities, it is the most rare type Dorian. But it is my house's affinity, so in turn it is also your affinity Dorian and I'll have to help you awaken it.
