Charles trudged through the clan's dark hallways, following Lira's steady steps as she led him in silence.
Their conversation in her room had left a knot in his stomach, and the looming trial still weighed heavily on his mind.
'This place is a headache…' he thought as they approached a reinforced wooden door.
His attention shifted to what Lira had described as his new room.
Lira stopped at the door, turning to him with a neutral expression.
"Here it is," she said, pointing to the lock. "Open it."
Charles raised an eyebrow but didn't argue.
He turned the knob and pushed the door, which opened with a soft Creak. What he saw inside left him speechless.
The room was spacious, far larger than the hole he'd slept in before. A decent-sized bed sat in one corner, with clean sheets and a thick blanket.
There was even enough space to move around, maybe do some exercise if he wanted.
