Chapter 71 - CHAPTER SEVENTY

Martin couldn't immediately process what he was saying; he was still holding the DNA test result, which was proof that his wife, Sharlene, was his cousin.

"Hold up, you two." Calmly, Lawrence said to the two of them, Justine and the others were also getting heated.

He looked back and forth between the two of them and sighed.

"You two, can you calm down, Justine? Your violent temper has come out now that you've found what you've been looking for all along. We may come from different clans, but our goal is to determine who is truly responsible for our current situation." Calmly, he explained to the two of them.

Justine didn't say anything; he sat facing him. His mind is processing it now; he hasn't yet figured out the connection between Sheila and Raymundo, and he was surprised by Justine's statement about their relationship.

Damn, the karma you're getting right now is intense, Martin. Are you still able to manage this, Martin? This was the question he was asking himself.

Moreover, he would save his child now; he didn't know how he would save her and return her soul to her body, his child Ashley. He looked at Lawrence.

If he remembers correctly, there was a massacre of the Martinez family because they were robbed, but it was strange because everyone living there was killed, and the household staff were not spared.

He sighed deeply. His father is suspicious of the Santiago family, especially Raymundo. His dad, aside from being the heir to the Francisco clan, has a hidden agenda to sniff out and dissect the family's secrets and bring them down through the media.

But what his father smells is not just danger but the deep-seated stench that the Santiago family has hidden. His father paused, aware that involving himself with that family would not be beneficial, and he consistently advocated for them to avoid becoming embroiled in the problems of other clans.

He just sighed. He wonders what else they might uncover.

The funny thing is, I'm really here now, talking to another clan. He just shook his head.

Martin looked at the two men; Justine was eyeing him then.

"Lawrence, what else did my brilliant wife tell you? Did you discover anything that I need to know?" Martin couldn't help but ask.

"Wife?" Justine even laughed at him and just shook his head. "You two aren't getting married anymore, are you?"

"Can you shut up? We haven't separated yet, so Sharlene remains my wife." He even said.

"You should know that, because you're a lawyer, Justine."

Justine could still smile meaningfully at him.

"Justine, please, not now; it's not personal." He heard Lawrence say.

"Sharlene didn't share much with me today, because last time, we just delved into her entire background, and we stumbled upon documents she found in the mansion of my aunt Leah's parents, which is now owned by the Franciscos, and the horrifying murder that happened in that mansion." Lawrence explained to Martin.

"That massacre happened decades ago." He let out a sigh.

"What did you find out, Mr. Francisco? I bet you gathered some information, didn't you?" Justine asked him. "As I heard, your dad was a journalist and editor-in-chief back then, and he used that skill to bring down his opponents, right?" Justine asked, leaning towards him.

"Yeah, before, he was a journalist, and he knew a lot about the events, but he didn't share that information with us." He replied.

"Your father knows his limitation." Lawrence could only say to him,.

"I wouldn't be surprised where you got that, since your dad's friend knows about the incident but stayed quiet for fear of Santiago's family." Justine said.

"Okay, we already have some suspicions about who the mastermind behind what we encountered today is," Lawrence sighed. "How can we identify and link the current events?" he inquired.

He thought for a moment.

Oh? He suddenly thought of something and looked at the two men who were deep in thought.

"I don't know if you believe me." He just said it to the two of them back then.

"Did you hear that Sharlene's grandmother has an ability? I mean, her foster grandmother." Martin blurted.

"What ability?" Justine's forehead furrowed in question.

"Sounds crazy, but maybe they can get a lead on what's happening, especially you, Lawrence, and Sharlene, connected to Leah Martinez." He ended up saying.

Lawrence furrowed his brow at what he said.

"How is Sharlene connected to this? Okay, Leah Martinez was the wife of Fredrick Manuel Santiago, and she was the sister of Carmela Geraldine Santiago-Gonzalez, who is Sharlene's parent. How are they connected?" Justine asked a question.

"I remembered what Sharlene told me a long time ago." Lawrence then addressed them.

"Sharlene dreams about Leah's death, how she suffered when she was buried alive," said Lawrence.

"Justine, Angely's house, did you find anything there?" Lawrence asked Justine while he's thinking.

"Unfortunately, I haven't focused on that yet." He sighed.

"You said that the Atienza property, where the mansion currently stands, was Leah Martinez's burial site?" Martin asked the two of them.

"Yeah, Vivianne knows it." Lawrence replied.

Vivianne. He could only think of her name. He sighed; he was still thinking about his daughter Ashley. He was getting annoyed because they were still going in circles; they suspected Raymundo Santiago was involved in the chaos, but how could they prove it?

"Sheila Atienza is our hope here." Lawrence could only say...

They exchanged glances, Justine and Lawrence. "You figure it out, Martin." Justine could only say to him.

"No, stand firm that you can manipulate him, Justine." He could only say back then.

"Stop that. The Atienzas and Rosarios are involved; we need their help." Lawrence addressed the two families.

"The question is, will they cooperate? Besides, I don't know how to explain to Sharlene that we are related." Justine said, and she just sighed.

"She's a good listener; she will understand the situation if you explain it well." He could only say...

It's true, after five years of being together with Sharlene, he knows her well.

"Yes, I agree that she is a good listener; she will understand that." Don't worry about her; she just has a lot on her mind, especially about her baby girl, but she always lends her ear to listen, particularly since she's interested in my cousin." Lawrence just sighed.

How could Sharlene not be interested? Leah's taken my child's soul. He could only say it in his mind.

He is still furious with Justine, who is now just smirking at him, teasing him.
