"So dazzling, Garcia." Beside the car, Aiden said to Garcia.
Garcia looked at the bar surrounded by flames, the fire casting a red glow on his youthful cheeks. He remained silent. Although he was a descendant of the mafia, he didn't like this kind of scene at all.
"Aiden, this is not something I want to see." Looking at the flames, Garcia said with slight sadness.
Aiden shook his head, didn't speak, and instead sat in the driver's seat. Just as he was about to drive, a figure walked out from the flames.
"No matter what, as a maid of the Lovelace family, I must stay by the young master's side. Even if the young master doesn't want to see me now, but... a maid has a maid's duty."
"So, please take me with you." The head maid, Roberta, looked at Aiden and said.
———
"Do you live here?" The Yellow Flag bar wasn't far from where Aiden and the others lived. After about half an hour, they arrived. Inside the car, looking at the shabby rental house, Roberta said with dissatisfaction.
"It's relatively quiet here." Aiden said seriously, "Generally speaking, even if Roanapur's gangs fight until their brains are bashed out, nothing happens here."
"But this place is too shabby." Roberta said after getting out of the car.
Although the Lovelace family had already fallen, years of heritage still made Roberta develop picky thoughts.
"Hey, for a family that's already fallen, and a mafia family at that, what are you being so picky for? It's already good enough to have a place to live."
Revy also got out of the car with Aiden and the others. She had gotten out to say goodbye to Aiden. Upon hearing Roberta's words, she instantly felt displeased.
Roberta looked at Revy, a trace of disdain flashing in her eyes, but her years of mercenary life made her perfectly suppress her inner thoughts.
"I was just stating the facts, that's all." Roberta said.
"Tch!" Revy was quite wary of Roberta. She squeezed the gun in her hand but held back in the end. She waved at Aiden and said, "Aiden, we're leaving first. If this woman does anything suspicious, remember to tell us."
"I will." Aiden also waved and then opened the door to the rental house.
As she followed Aiden inside, Roberta immediately frowned.
The living room was simply too messy. Food bags, liquor bottles, and cigarette packs were thrown everywhere. It didn't even look like a place someone could live in.
Aiden looked at the messy rental house, then glanced at the constantly frowning Roberta. A trace of awkwardness flashed across his face.
This trash was left by Revy and Dutch when they gathered at his place. He had planned to clean it up after this incident ended, but clearly, it was too late now.
So, he quickly opened a room that had never been cleaned and said to Garcia, "Garcia, you stay in here first."
"Okay." Already exhausted, Garcia had no objections. The drifting about of the past few days had left him worn out. He didn't have the energy for other thoughts.
But Roberta was different. She smelled the musty odor caused by poor ventilation in the room.
"Please wait, young master. Let me clean up inside first." Roberta shouted and followed behind Garcia, trying to enter together.
But Garcia really didn't have a good impression of this maid. The moment he went in, he closed the door, shutting Roberta outside.
"I'm sorry, Roberta. I want to be alone for a while." From behind the door, Garcia said.
Another trace of sadness flashed in Roberta's eyes. She stared blankly at the door, standing motionless at the entrance.
"It's just a wooden door. If you lightly swing your fist, you can go in." Standing at the door of his own bedroom, Aiden looked at the conflicted Roberta and gave a reminder.
"Let him calm down for now." Roberta thought for a moment and said.
"Up to you then." Aiden said and entered his bedroom.
Soon after, he came out again and asked Roberta, who was still standing by the door, "How long are you planning to stand there? Aren't you going to find a place to rest?"
Roberta turned to look at Aiden and said, "I don't know where to go."
"Then the sofa it is." Aiden pointed to the couch in the living room. "Though it's a bit messy, at least you can lie down."
Roberta looked at Aiden, then finally nodded and walked toward the sofa.
———
Not far from Aiden's rental house, a tall woman let out a breath of relief. Her expression was complicated as she murmured, "Aiden, we meet again, even though you didn't see me."
Then as if remembering something, she pulled a small transmitter from the backpack on her waist.
"I've arrived at the destination. Requesting next instructions," she spoke into the transmitter.
"Very good. Please continue to observe the target. Soon, the company's forces will arrive…"
———
Very quickly, night passed.
The next day, just as the sky was starting to brighten, Aiden was awakened by the sound of tables and chairs being moved and glass breaking.
Extremely speechless, he crawled out of bed, got dressed, bit a cigarette between his lips, and pushed open the bedroom door.
In the living room, Roberta was earnestly cleaning up the glass shards on the floor. Just now, she had accidentally broken a glass.
"Damaging personal property means you have to take responsibility, Miss Maid," Aiden said, lighting the cigarette and taking a deep drag.
Roberta turned her head and looked at him. A rare trace of awkwardness flashed across her cold face.
"I'll go out and buy some later," she said.
Then she turned back and continued sweeping the floor with a broom she somehow found. But then, she accidentally bumped into another glass on the coffee table and broke that one too.
Roberta froze. Looking at the broken pieces on the ground, she fell silent.
'I really am a failure!' she thought. 'I can't even handle something this simple.'
"I'll do it instead, Miss Maid. If this keeps up, I won't even have a glass to drink water from." Looking at Roberta frozen in place, Aiden finally couldn't hold it in. If he let her keep cleaning, he'd be using bowls to drink.
"No need." Hearing Aiden's words, Roberta suddenly raised her head and shouted at him, "I'll pay for the broken glasses. I don't need your help."
"But this is my house." Aiden pointed to the room.
"But my young master lives here. As a maid, I should create a clean environment for the young master." Roberta looked coldly at Aiden and said.
Looking at the very determined Miss Maid, Aiden sighed internally, then shrugged and said, "Suit yourself."
With that, he tossed the cigarette butt to the floor in front of Roberta's disapproving eyes and shut the bedroom door.
Smash!
A sound came through the door.
'She broke another one…'
———
By the time Aiden came out of the bedroom again, half an hour had passed.
At that moment, Roberta was nowhere to be seen in the living room. She had probably gone out.
"Really... tragic."
Looking at the only glass left on the coffee table, Aiden shook his head with a bitter smile and muttered to himself, "But I guess this is good. Next time Revy and the others come, I'll have a reason not to serve them water."
Then he walked to the door of the room Garcia was staying in and gently knocked.
"Are you awake, Garcia?"
No response. The little guy was still asleep. Last night's experience had completely exhausted him.
So Aiden went to the bathroom to freshen up.
After washing, he returned to the living room, sat on the sofa, and listlessly watched TV.
Of course, his mind wasn't on the show. He was sorting through the thoughts he hadn't finished processing last night.
'Come to think of it, the plot is now completely out of control.'
'Who would've thought Roberta would be cleaning in my house... Tch, why am I suddenly thinking about this?'
'But... it's kind of interesting. That's Roberta, after all. A woman known as the human terminator!'
