Chapter 5 - chapter 5: Awakening under ash

Kael, Thalos and Elia followed the soldiers in silence through the twisted alleys of Tebai. The city itself seemed to breathe fear: the lizarded walls, the fleeting looks, the doors slammed behind them.

They arrived in front of a large dark building, formerly a library transformed into a control center by Zethar. Kael felt his heart getting worse; He did not like to be trapped as well.

-"Let me talk," whispered Thalos without looking up. "I am known here."

Inside, dull officials scribbled on scroll rollers. A great man in black armor, probably a captain, looked up.

- "Name, affiliation, reasons for your arrival."

Thalos approached, the nonchalant air:

- "Just old friends who come back. Nothing that concerns His Majesty."

The captain fixed Kael more, no doubt feeling the tension hidden under his simple clothes. The young man cleaned his fists discreetly. The sun in his heart, the magic circle he had engraved in him, vibra weakly.

Finally, they were released.

Back in a dark alley, Thalos collapsed against a wall.

-"You have no idea of the luck we had ..." he breathed.

Kael remained silent, the spirit elsewhere. Each step brought him closer to his goal, but also of his own limits.

Under its closed eyelids, an obscure silhouette arises: the shadow fox, Nyra. The legend whispered that those capable of hearing his call were intended to change the world - or destroy it.

The night fell on Tebai, but Elia's tavern was one of the few living places. Sitting around an old torn card, Kael, Thalos and Elia spoke in a low voice.

- "Babilon ..." repeated Elia, the serious air. "We only speak in murmurs of this city. Even here, it is scary."

Thalos, a handbrush, burst out laughing.

- "Shaving, rabid, full of monsters and crazy ... The perfect dream for you, Kael!"

Kael sketched a smile. But his eyes remained cold.

- "I'm looking for the world card. Babylon. I'm looking for revenge. I'm not afraid of anything, because I have nothing more to lose."

A heavy silence fell. Even the few tavern customers turned their heads, alarmed by these words.

Thalos brutally put his graduate on the table.

-"Poor fool," he growled. "Do you think it is with your pretty determination that you are going to kill a demonic king?"

In a fraction of a second, Thalos jumped and puts his fist on Kael, projecting him against the wall. The impact shaken the entire building.

When Kael rushes his eyes, he saw Elia leaning over him, worried.

-"Don't hold it against him," she whispered. "Thalos ... He saw what Zethar can do. He grew up in the church. He lost everything."

Kael hugged his teeth, trying to get up.

Elia added gently:

- "And ... that's not all. Zethar has a power that no one can face alone. alone. The power of the heavens ... Absolute control over the storm and the thunder. "

Kael felt a new flame burn in his chest.

Nyra, the legend, her father, the secrets buried of tebai ... Everything seemed to be binding.

The war for his soul was just beginning.
