Chapter 6 - The promotion day Massacre

From the outside, the organization appeared to be nothing more than an abandoned industrial complex, surrounded by a tall metal fence topped with barbed wire. It was located in a remote area, far from populated cities, hidden in the midst of a dense forest or desolate wasteland that attracted no attention.

The main gate was made of heavy steel and could only be opened using advanced security systems that relied on fingerprint and retina scans.

The outer walls of the surrounding buildings looked weathered and neglected, as if they hadn't been maintained for years, but in reality, they were fortified and connected to a highly secure defense system.

Surveillance cameras were carefully placed at every angle, cleverly hidden to avoid drawing attention.

The buildings themselves were plain and unremarkable, offering no hints about the activities happening inside, only deepening the mystery.

The surrounding area was completely deserted, save for the occasional bird or the silent whisper of the wind.

Upon entering the building, the scene changed entirely.

The corridors were narrow and cold, lit by harsh fluorescent lights that gave the place an air of cruelty and detachment.

The walls were painted a dull, faded gray, and digital screens and thermal scanners were positioned everywhere, giving the impression that you were constantly being watched.

The staff moving around the facility wore simple black uniforms and seemed well-accustomed to silence and strict discipline.

The hallways led to isolated operating rooms, some sealed with large steel doors secured by electronic locks.

The atmosphere radiated fear and danger; everything felt unnaturally precise and organized.

Sounds were rare, and only the hum of electronic devices or the soft footsteps could be heard.

After entering the organization, Kyo headed toward the Brain Retrieval Room.

The Brain Retrieval Room was located in the basement of the complex, a highly advanced technological space.

The walls were lined with soundproofing material, ensuring that no sounds from the ongoing operations leaked out.

The lighting was dim, with intermittent LED lights casting a mysterious tone over the room.

At the center stood a large oval table surrounded by display screens showing the vital data of the retrieved brains.

The walls were lined with storage units containing the retrieved brains, each sealed inside airtight glass containers.

Each container was faintly lit, highlighting its contents.

Advanced devices used for memory extraction and information transfer were meticulously arranged, creating an overwhelming sense of precision and order.

Kyo handed over the two memory drives and moved to leave the organization.

However, unknown to Kyo, at the center of that room was a hidden place — a secret chamber for extracting information from the brains.

This hidden room was concealed behind a movable wall that required a secret code to unlock.

Its design was imposing, with dark wood-paneled walls and shelves filled with confidential documents and files.

At the center stood a round table surrounded by leather chairs, serving as a venue for clandestine meetings.

On one wall, there was a map displaying current projects and secret communications, with markers indicating important sites.

The lighting was warm, creating an atmosphere of comfort while maintaining an air of secrecy.

In the corner, a steel vault safeguarded the most sensitive secrets, and a small window overlooked a dark corridor, allowing those inside to observe without being seen.

Kyo moved outside, got into his car, and headed home.

"Alright, Eva, the kill has been confirmed," Kyo reported.

Eva responded:

"Good work, Agent Kyo. You may rest until your next assignment arrives."

By midnight, the organization's internal system announced the beginning of chaos.

A mechanical voice echoed throughout the compound, declaring the start of Promotion Day.

Whispers circulated among the agents about who would rise and who would fall.

Some armed themselves, others hid in tight corners, awaiting the perfect moment to strike.

For Kyo, it was just another day.

Death wasn't a threat — it was merely part of the job.

As he ate his meal, he felt bored by the commotion, ignoring all the talk of promotions.

He knew the fighting would begin soon but decided he would handle the attackers differently this time — he wouldn't kill them.

He would simply toy with them, like a game of cards.

"Promotion Day is quite amusing," Kyo thought to himself as he sipped his drink coolly, eyes still fixed on the TV screen.

"The future? I don't need a promotion to get difficult missions. I already get what I want... this promotion means nothing to me."

Kyo remained completely uninterested, as always.

Eva let out a soft sigh, expressing her confusion:

"I don't understand how you feel no excitement about this day."

Kyo replied indifferently:

"Because it's simply another day. I beat them up, they're done, and I go back to my meal."

To him, it was all a meaningless routine — just another opportunity to showcase his combat skills.

After a few moments, movements stirred around the house.

Seven agents entered the building, their eyes locked onto their target: Kyo.

Their plan was to kill him to earn a promotion, but they didn't realize that this man didn't fear death — and for him, battle was just a game.

"Eva, where are they now?" Kyo asked, gripping two daggers, ready for action.

Eva quickly responded:

"Five have breached the ground floor. Two are still outside trying to hack the systems."

Kyo stood calmly, tightening his grip around the daggers.

"Let's play, then."

He didn't plan to kill them this time; he just wanted to paralyze them, keep them alive for a while.

A simple beating was all it would take.

He moved quietly toward the living room, where he spotted the first attacker sneaking behind the furniture.

"Oh, this'll be fun," Kyo muttered before swiftly throwing a dagger into the attacker's leg.

The man collapsed immediately, screaming in pain.

Kyo moved in, muffling the man's mouth tightly before striking his neck with a quick motion, paralyzing him temporarily.

"One down... where are the others?" Kyo whispered as he retrieved his dagger.

Eva monitored the cameras:

"One is in the kitchen. The others are scattering throughout the house."

Kyo chuckled quietly:

"Such amateurs..."

He rushed toward the kitchen, where he saw the second attacker reaching for a knife.

Kyo grabbed a kitchen knife before the man could, slashing his arm to disable him instantly.

He then slammed him to the ground and knocked him out with a blow to the head.

Upstairs, another attacker had made it into the bedroom.

Kyo ascended the stairs silently.

When he entered the room, he found the man hiding behind the curtains.

"How pathetic," Kyo scoffed with a mocking smile.

He stabbed the attacker's shoulder, paralyzing him as well.

Eva continued to guide him:

"Two are trying to break into the basement."

Kyo headed toward the basement, where he found two attackers trying to break down the door.

It didn't take much effort; he threw a dagger into one of them and delivered a powerful punch to the other's chest, causing him to collapse.

After paralyzing all seven, Kyo sat down on the floor, catching his breath as he looked around.

All of them were immobilized, temporarily unable to move.

"Well, that's done," Kyo said with a cold smile.

"I didn't kill them, but at least I'll get to play with them later."

He moved toward one of the basement walls, shifting a loose brick that triggered the entire wall to slide open, revealing his secret room.

This was the place where weapons and supplies for disposing of bodies — like hydrofluoric acid — were stored.

He grabbed a rope and dragged one of the paralyzed agents upstairs.

After some time, all seven woke up tied up, facing Kyo, who stood tall before them, a cold smirk playing across his lips...

"Alright... it's over," Kyo said, a frigid, detached smile on his face. "I didn't kill you... . But now, I'll have my fun."

Without a flicker of hesitation, Kyo walked to one side of the basement. With a precise movement, he pressed a loose brick.

The wall creaked open, revealing a hidden chamber — his sanctuary of death.

Acids, ropes, weapons, every tool needed to erase life and existence was waiting in perfect order, untouched and ready.

He picked up a thick rope, his fingers cold and mechanical, and dragged one of the unconscious bodies toward the center of the room.

Time blurred.

The seven woke up bound and helpless, blinking up at a figure that seemed almost inhuman — Kyo, standing tall, his dagger glinting hungrily in his hand.

The smile he wore now was no longer a smile. It was a snarl carved into his flesh.

"Now," he whispered, voice dripping venom, "who's first? Don't waste your breath begging... I'm going to carve regret into your bones. You dared to raise your hands against me... like you were worth something? Worthless rats."

Eva's voice hissed in his ear, hesitant:

"Kyo... some of them might be useful. Talents... the Organization could—"

But she never finished.

Kyo interrupted, his tone laced with venom:

"Talent? I've seen talented trash rot all the same. I don't care. I'll cleanse this room of every last stain."

One of the prisoners, voice cracking, sobbed:

"We were wrong! Please—show mercy! We'll never hurt you again!"

And then it happened.

A memory, sharp as a dagger, sliced into Kyo's mind.

A child, beaten and broken, staggering home with blood and dirt crusted on his skin. His mother's voice, tender but naive, reaching him:

"Kyo, no one deserves harm. You must forgive. True strength is found in mercy."

Mercy.

The word echoed inside him like a curse.

Kyo's eyes darkened, his features twisting into something monstrous. His vision blurred with rage.

This was no longer about punishment.

This was no longer about the Organization.

This was personal.

He moved — fast, merciless — stabbing the pleading captive straight through the shoulder.

The dagger tore through him brutally, splitting muscle and bone, leaving a jagged ruin of flesh behind.

"There is no mercy!" Kyo roared, his voice shaking the very air. "Mercy is a fairy tale told to weaklings before they're crushed by reality! Kindness is a lie!"

The camera in Kyo's eye captured it all:

Blood exploded across the floor as Kyo unleashed hell, slashing, stabbing, tearing through the seven like a beast unchained.

Each thrust of his blade was fueled by more than violence — it was fueled by years of betrayal, abandonment, and a hatred so old it had roots in his soul.

When it was done, when the world was still again, Kyo stood amid the carnage, blood dripping from his blade.

He walked back to the couch — a king returning from war — and picked up his food, as if nothing had happened.

His gaze was empty, distant.

"Funny," he murmured, voice hollow, "I thought I had buried that memory.

I should have made that bastard scream longer."

He stared ahead, but he wasn't seeing the present.

He was drowning in the past, and every heartbeat whispered one truth louder and louder:

No one deserves forgiveness.
