Chapter 3 - Insights sale

In this world, one own insights can be sold, and this is the basis of typical star skills transactions.

Anyone who had mastered a Star skills could imprint their understanding into a Star skill Stone, and then sell it to others for profit.

Of course, there was a catch.

Once sold, that piece of insights would be lost. The sellers understanding of the skills would weaken significantly. Because of this, only those who had cultivated a skill to great mastery would even consider selling. That way, the drop in proficiency wouldn't cripple them—and with a bit more practice, they could recover what they'd lost.

His plan was simple: master the skills, sell it, and use the money to obtain better resources. He believed that if he kept practicing for a few more days, he could reach that level with Instant Step.

Moreover, after selling, his insights with Instant Step would only decrease, not be completely forgotten. With additional practice, he could still regain his mastery.

That was the theory, at least.

He still needed to test it.

Just then, his phone buzzed.

Gu Zhenglanced at the screen—it was a notification from the academy.

"One week from now, all classes will participate in the semester's first combat assessment. The top ten students in each class will receive rewards. We hope all students will train diligently to achieve a good ranking."

"Rules: 1. No use of Star Weapons...]

Gu Zhen put the phone down, his eyes lighting up with interest.

A combat competition—with prizes?

To him, this was a golden opportunity.

In this world, a Star Warriors strength was built on three pillars:

The first is the four attributes:

One main and three secondary.

The main attribute is the most important, as it determines the total amount of star power and the strength of ones superpowers. The more star power one has, the stronger the star skills they can use, and the more powerful their superpowers becomes.

The three secondary attributes play a supporting role, helping star warriors better utilize the effects of their superpowers.

Second, were superpowers and Star skills.

Superpowers were innate. Some were so powerful they allowed one to fight enemies far above their realm with ease.

Star skills, on the other hand, were learned. They could refine and extend an superpowers effectiveness—or cover up its shortcomings entirely.

Third, were Star Weapons

Star Weapons came in six grades and directly correlated with the rank of a Star Warrior. A powerful Star Weapon could drastically elevate a warriors strength. In the Great War three centuries ago, Star Weapons played a decisive role.

For star warriors who have just awakened their superpowers, their strength largely depends on how powerful their superpower is.

Before awakening an superpower, the star power within a star warriors body remains dormant, making it impossible to improve their primary or secondary attributes or to learn star skills.

So unless one had a truly heaven-defying superpowers, most new warriors wouldn't be too strong.

Among all the people in Sunmoon City of the same generation as Gu Zhen, the strongest superpower belongs to the young princess of the Gu family, Gu Lingling, who possesses a B-rank superpowers"

Though Gu Zhen adoptive parents were technically members of the Gu family, they were from a Side branch—a world apart from the mainline.

Even a genius like Gu Lingling, who awakened a B-rank superpowers, wouldn't be able to become overwhelmingly strong in just a few days.

Besides, the academy competition forbade Star Weapons, making it a true test of personal skill.

In his previous life, Gu Zhen had studied boxing for some time, and now, having nearly mastered Instant Step in a short period, found himself with a clear advantage.

He estimated his chances of placing top five in the class at fifty percent.

Over the next few days, he quietly trained his star power and Instant Step within the academy.

He had originally planned to fully master Instant Step before the competition began, but things progressed beyond his expectations. In just three days, Gu Zhen had completely mastered Instant Step. He now believed he could likely sell his insights.

With four days left until the competition, that was more than enough time for him to practice Instant Step again from scratch. However, continuing to practice Instant Step wouldn't lead to any significant breakthroughs in such a short time.

After a moment of thought, Gu Zhen made his decision- Time to sell my insights and trade it for better resources. Having made up his mind, he quickly prepared and left the school.

Selling star skills naturally couldn't be done within the academy, as the academy didn't allow the collection of star skills stones. All the star skills stones in the academy were directly issued by the Twelve States Alliance. The most suitable way to sell star skills stones was to go to a large chamber of commerce.

Large chambers of commerce had dedicated departments for buying and selling star skills, equipped with complete facilities and testing organizations, making the process of selling insights very convenient.

Most importantly, large chambers of commerce wouldn't bother scheming against an ordinary commoner like Gu Zhen. After a half-hour ride, he soon arrived at the entrance of the largest chamber of commerce in Sunmoon City.

The Sunmoon City branch of the Yunfan Chamber of Commerce.

The Yunfan Chamber of Commerce was the largest chamber of commerce in the entire Twelve States, one of the six most powerful forces aside from the Twelve States families, with branches spread across all Twelve States.

After entering the Yunfan Chamber of Commerce, he quickly found the area for selling star skills and explained his purpose to the staff.

"Hello, I'd like to sell a Star skills"

The receptionist gave him a polite nod and said "Please state the category and grade."

"Physical-type. E-rank, Gu Zhen answered promptly.

The staff member, a middle-aged man with the surname Li, retrieved a fist-sized Star skill Stone from the shelf behind him.

"Please infuse your insights into this stone. I'll perform an inspection afterward. If everything checks out, we'll offer a price."

He made a gesture for Gu zhen to proceed.

He placed his hand on the star skill stone and slowly transferred his insights into it.

The star skill stone emitted a faint blue glow as his insights were stored within it.

In just a few breaths, Gu Zhen completed the process. At the same time, he noticed that his proficiency with Instant Step had been completely reset. He now felt extremely unfamiliar with the skill, and performing it would be sluggish.

Master Li, seeing that Gu Zhen had finished so quickly, was somewhat surprised. Normally, it would take several minutes to complete, and this was the first time he had seen someone as fast as this client. Snapping out of his surprise, Master Li immediately picked up the star skill stone and began inspecting it.

Hmm, indeed, there's no issue. After a thorough inspection, Master Li put down the star skill stone. Based on my examination, there are no problems. The price for an E-rank star skill is generally 100,000 star coins. Physical-skill-type star skill are slightly more expensive, so we can offer a purchase price of 130,000.

'Deal, Gu Zhen replied without hesitation, agreeing decisively. He didn't bother haggling, mainly because he disliked negotiating with others. His past life had made him that way.

Seeing Gu zhen agree so readily, Master Li didn't say another word and handed him an appraisal ticket, instructing him to go to the second floor to complete the transaction.

Gu Zhen didn't have any doubts and quickly went to the second floor, where he successfully exchanged the ticket. A massive chamber of commerce like this wouldn't bother scamming an ordinary, penniless commoner like him.
