Tranquilizers.
I took them each time my mate was engaged in an affair with another woman. As a werewolf with a chosen mate, I could feel each time my mate cheated on me.
This had been going on for a while and sadly, if I wanted to be wed to an Alpha, I had to keep quiet and endure the cheating.
My father said a wolfless wolf like me ought to be happy that a powerful pack's heir was even willing to make a wedding alliance with us.
For each stroke, each time he buried his member into her core, I felt the pain searing through my soul.
The pain was sharp—piercing and tormenting.
I had been so tense, stressed and my eye bags looked so obvious.
I swallowed my spit, feeling it move heavily down my throat as I waited for the bell to ring. I couldn't wait for school to be over and done with so that I could bury my face in my pillow and cry.
My mate was hurting me. I thought whatever he was doing with the other woman was a fling, but their relationship seemed to grow serious by the day.
Sexual intercourse was banned in school but these people still found a way to go about it. I knew this because the sharp intense pain I felt came to torment me everyday.
I felt it in the morning, I felt it during classes and I felt it before we went back home. Those shits!! So Blake was missing classes for a slut?! How convenient!!
I never thought a single discovery could unravel everything I believed about my life, my future, and the man I thought I loved. But here I am, standing on the edge of a storm I never saw coming.
I schooled at Exotikkal, the most powerful school in the whole wide world.
Exotikkal was supposed to be my sanctuary, the place where I would finally find my wolf, my true self.
A school unlike any other, where students from all corners of the world wielded powers that defied imagination—teleportation, invisibility, super strength.
And yet, despite all the magic around me, I felt like the odd one out.
Because I was still waiting. Waiting for my wolf to come to me.
Exotikkal was founded when there was a pre-alien attack on our world.
The alien king had given humanity five years to prepare for his arrival.
Shifters and humans from different parts of the world had to put their differences together and build a school where youths and children could train and prepare for the apocalypse.
Shifters got to enhance their powers in this academy and humans who were not super, had to buy ability books to learn and master abilities.
Some stubborn shifters still insisted that their students were better off without the reining of the academy. They swore that if there was an apocalypse, their children would survive.
I was not interested in all of these. I wanted the whole shenanigans to end so that I could wed the love of my life in a lavish ceremony, bear kids for him and call it a day.
My father, the alpha of our pack, had sent me here– to Exxotikal, with high hopes.
He wanted me to grow strong, to claim my place as his heir.
He thought that the rigorous training given to students here would shape me into a powerful Alpha Heir. He also expected me to have extra abilities and harness them.
He even went as far as buying me an ability book! A book I have never opened.
My father kept raving about how the ability book could help me become the most powerful wolf of all time because he scraped all his reserves and savings in buying me the book.
But without my wolf, I felt like a failure. Like a shadow of what I was meant to be.
And then there was Blake. My boyfriend, my mate, the one I thought would stand by me no matter what.
Our marriage was supposed to be the bond that would seal our destinies together. But lately, something felt off. A gnawing doubt I couldn't shake.
This morning, I found the girl he was cheating on me with. When I found the letters they exchanged within themselves, my world shattered.
I was snooping through Blake's locker, trying to find some evidence when I saw a little drawer.
It was slightly ajar, and curiosity got the better of me. Inside, folded neatly, were love letters. Not for me. For Sonya.
I knew it! Blake was messing with Sonya, the queen bee of our academy. I knew he would be messing with someone hot, confident and powerful.
No wonder he had the nerves to bleep her every single hour. Blake was a respectful kid. He attended classes, got good grades and honored his parents.
Since he started messing with Sonya, everything changed.
Sonya—the daughter of a billionaire businessman and a Valkyrie princess, a Trybrid with powers that made her untouchable. The girl everyone envied and feared. And she was Blake's secret.
Sex was not allowed on campus but somehow these fuckers had found a way to please themselves!! Fools.
My hands trembled as I read the contents of the letters they exchanged. They wrote poems to themselves and even had their signature love signs.
They spoke so highly and beautifully of themselves. I wad kinda jealous. Blake had never written me any letter like this. How long had this been going on? How could he?
I felt sick, betrayed, but also furious. I had to confront her. I needed answers.
Ding!!! Ding!!!
The bell rang and broke me from my reverie.
"Sonya girl…you're in for a rude awakening!!" I mused as I gathered my books in my tote bag and stormed out of the class.
Because of the alien threat, students were not allowed to leave the academy except with verified escorts. Students, except rich kids of course. And the rich kids had to bribe the school security officials in order to leave.
Tags were put on everyone's wrists to monitor their movements.
Sonya could leave school as she pleased because her father was a Valkyrie warrior and she was also undergoing training.
Sonya trained to protect the town and most of their training was off-camp.
Valkyrie's were strong, resilient and durable. They possessed powers like stealth, teleportation. They also had the ability to activate wings and shift into beasts.
They could also turn their bodies into metal, become large like titans and grow up to twelve feet in the face of danger.
My best friend caught up with me hurrying to the back of the school and secretly followed me.
I removed my wristband and yanked it on the floor to avoid being tracked. Just as I was about to jump, someone cautioned me.
"Not so fast!!"
I shrieked, thinking a security official had caught up with me.
"What do you think you are doing?" Lola asked with an appalled face.
"Girl….If I'm not back in twelve hours, I want you to take this band and alert the chief security officer, okay?" My best friend, Lola, arched a brow and looked at me with suspicion as I handed her my wristband.
"I don't think you should be…"
"Shhhh!! I'll be back!" I assured her and jumped off the fence.
I stopped a taxi and asked for it to drop me off at Storm Security Headquarters.
I got a lot of stares..I mean, people were wondering what a student from my school was doing off campus.
"Good afternoon miss, How may I help you?" The receptionist asked.
"I'm Sonya's friend from school. I'd love to see her. It's very urgent," I lied.
"Alright, miss. Fourth floor. The door on the left."
I was surprised that the receptionist let me upstairs without questioning me. Something did not sit right with me.
Storm Security headquarters was known for scrutinizing it's guests. They believed that the aliens had dropped off humans as spies so anyone coming into their office had to be questioned and well checked. This was not the case with me.
I reached the fourth floor and pushed the door open. The office was phenomenal. I had to commend Blake's dad for the work done on the interior.
Inside the office looked like it was something pulled from a sci-fi movie. The walls were alien themed, the rugs, the furniture--he even had dummy alien heads that sat as decoration on the table.
My heart was pounding, rehearsing what I would say. Sonya sat on a plush couch, her eyes fixated on a document.
It seemed she was brainstorming and she paid me no mind. The atmosphere was tense and I was beginning to regret coming here.
When Sonya looked up, her eyes narrowed, but she didn't back down.
"So, you're Blair," she said, her voice was smooth, almost mocking. "I've heard a lot about you."
I swallowed my fear. "Why are you with him? Blake is my mate and we are getting married soon." My heart was pulsating as I summoned the courage to confront Sonya.
I knew Valkyrie's could be dangerous, so I was alert. I clutched my personal alarm, ready to use it if I noticed Sonya moving funny.
Sonya let out a light laugh. "I've been waiting for you. Welcome, honey."
