Chapter 7 - dream world: priest and dragon

The story of Nova's past left Markus with more questions than answers. the moon was another realm? How many other realms were there? Were the other monsters that served nova, still alive? How did he end up as an Arcana?

Markus asked, "Okay, so that explains the rave and where you come from, but not how you became my Arcana."

Nova looked at Markus, bowing his head, his golden halo looming over markus. "I was killed by the Calamity. It followed me to this Earth and hunted me down before I could fully pass on. I used a skill called Arcana Revolution, which embedded a copy of my power and consciousness into a boy named Balrock Silva. My powers lay dormant in his bloodline until they passed on to three of your ancestors and then you."

Markus was shocked to hear that the Calamity had followed Nova to Earth. He knew that something as powerful as that could cause mass destruction, but it seemed to have been here for years without any reports or legends of the Calamity.

Markus thought to himself, "Something about this doesn't add up. If the Calamity is here, then where is it? Shouldn't it be hunting the other monsters or at least causing chaos? Why haven't I heard anything about it?"

Before Markus could continue questioning Nova, the seal on his hand began to glow, and the head priest's voice echoed through the dream world. "Mark! I just got your message. Are you okay?"

Markus looked up and around; the voice seemed to come from all directions in the dream world. He replied, "Yes, I'm good. Nova handled everything."

The head priest was relieved to hear that Markus was okay and was intrigued by the information about the lunar dragon. He asked, "I'm glad to hear that you're all right. Are you still able to talk to the dragon?"

Markus was about to answer him when Nova stretched out his hand. As it disappeared into the air, ripples formed where his hand had cut off pulling the head priest into the dream world through the ripples.

"Wait! Where am I? What is this place?" the head priest asked, looking around in confusion. When he looked forward and saw Nova, he fell back in shock, landing on his butt. He thought, What is that thing? Nova's large and majestic figure struck fear into his heart.

He quivered as he continued to look around, then saw Markus waving towards him, urging him to come closer. "Head priest, don't worry! It's just Nova; he won't hurt you or anything."

The head priest sighed at Markus's words, feeling aggravated by the fact that he was dragged here against his will. But at least he wasn't in danger.

He walked closer to Markus, still a bit cautious of Nova. The priest asked, "So this is Nova? You know, Markus, you could have warned me before dragging me here, wherever this is."

Nova spoke up, answering for Markus. "It was I who summoned you, not the child. I used the connection from your seal to reach you; this will make explaining far simpler."

Nova began explaining everything they had just discussed with Markus, including his backstory and the fact that the Calamity was on Earth. The priest looked confused; he didn't believe he had ever heard of the Calamity being spotted before. "The monster you're talking about, it must have returned to the moon after your battle."

Nova growled, his anger evident in his body language. He stomped and blew smoke from his nostrils. "Trust me, that thing is still here. I can feel its presence constantly looming over me; it must be hiding away, planning something."

The head priest didn't believed that the creature was still on Earth, but he knew that if it were to return, it would be one of the worst disasters in history. He asked, "Can you show me where the portal is?"

Nova responded, "Why do you need to know? If you're planning to invade my realm, you won't have much luck. The monsters there are much stronger than anything you've faced here."

The head priest replied, "I'll send guards to watch over it; there won't be much need for an invasion."

Nova glanced at him and knew he was lying. The priest was planning to invade the moon upon learning the location, likely to gain beasts for contracts with his soldiers.

"You're lying. That's not very priestly of you," Nova said.

"The temple isn't a religious organization. I'm not that kind of priest. I'm dedicated to the growth and protection of the nation. Now tell me where the gate is or else," the head priest answered.

Nova was angered by his tone. While he didn't care if the priest invaded the moon since it was no longer his domain, he disapproved of the sudden arrogance.

"WATCH YOUR TONE WITH ME, BOY! I've been alive longer than your great-grandfather. Show some respect, or I'll have to teach you some," Nova shouted. He roared, causing the dream world to shake as his voice echoed.

The head priest gracefully stepped aside, revealing a magnificent lion that stood a towering 10 feet tall. This imposing creature was formed from a golden flame that flickered and shimmered with life, bursting forth from the priest's body. Its majestic coat gleamed in a striking blend of white and gold, capturing the light in a way that made it appear almost ethereal. Atop its regal head sat a crown crafted from seven lustrous stars, each one twinkling as if holding ancient secrets within. The lion's mane, a glorious cascade of golden flames, danced wildly in the crisp air, creating an impression of both beauty and power. Its body was encased in intricate platinum armor, finely detailed with ornate engravings that reflected a deep reverence and craftsmanship. Meanwhile, its formidable claws, sharp and glistening in gold, hinted at the creature's strength and majesty, embodying the spirit of a guardian in this sacred space.

Markus immediately jumped in between them shouting at them to stop they both looked at Markus telling him to stay out of this but Markus stood his ground then responded " both of you guys please just stop I've seen enough for today Nova there no need to fight please just give him the location".

Nova realized that if he attacked the head priest, it would put Markus in a difficult position, which would ultimately disadvantage him as well.

So, he backed off and revealed the portal's location to the head priest. He then said, "Next time, speak to me with respect. Remember, I'm the one you need; without me, you're sitting ducks."

The priest hissed before leaving the dream world, acknowledging that Nova was right. The portal led to the moon, and there was a chance he would need information from Nova if they were attacked or if they planned an invasion began.
