Chapter 18 - Chapter 17: Dagon Vs Madara [1]

Madara felt a flicker of something almost like excitement. It wasn't the thrill of blood pumping through his veins this reanimated body felt nothing like that. It was the novelty.

Discovering a world so different from the Shinobi Nations, with its strange creatures and unique power system called 'Cursed Energy,' was… stimulating.

Of course, his main goals remained clear: find out how he got here, learn everything possible about this world, and understand this 'Cursed Energy.'

The cursed spirits he'd fought so far were mostly weak, except perhaps for the volcano-headed one, Jogo.

The one with stitches on his face, Mahito, wasn't overwhelmingly strong in combat, but his words when he touched Madara 'Let's see what I should turn you into' revealed much.

'His technique involves reshaping bodies,' Madara deduced easily. 'What a fool, revealing his power so carelessly.' Countering him would be simple.

A Wood Clone could easily probe Mahito's ability, forcing him to show his hand without risking the main body.

Now, facing this octopus-headed curse, Dagon… his technique was interesting.

A pocket dimension, a Domain, that trapped others inside and seemingly boosted his own power while granting guaranteed hits.

Outside, the three sorcerers had pushed Dagon back easily. Inside, the situation had clearly reversed before Madara's arrival.

'Still weak, though,' Madara thought dismissively, remembering he wasn't even in his original, living body, which possessed the full, devastating power of the complete Susanoo a force capable of reshaping landscapes.

This current form was merely a shadow of that, yet still more than enough for this.

As Dagon's massive swarm of shikigami surged across the water towards him, Madara pushed strength into his legs.

The sand beneath his feet shifted as he launched himself forward like a missile, meeting the wave of monsters head-on.

He held the broken blade Maki had thrown him, gripping it firmly. Reaching the front lines of the swarm, he became a whirlwind of motion.

Fish-like creatures lunged from all directions, snapping sharp teeth, but in Madara's Mangekyo Sharingan-enhanced vision, their frantic attacks were laughably slow.

His body reacted instantly to what his eyes saw, dodging, weaving, and slashing with the borrowed blade.

Shikigami after shikigami fell apart as he cut through their ranks, a crimson-eyed blur amidst the chaos. Not a single creature managed to even touch him.

Their bodies dissolved into dark smoke before they could even register being hit. However, the sheer number of them was immense, an endless tide.

Using just the blade and taijutsu was inefficient, a waste of effort on mere summons. Why bother swatting flies one by one when you could simply eliminate the source?

With a thought, blue energy flared around him again. The skeletal form of his Susanoo materialized, one giant hand wielding an ethereal blue sword.

With a single, sweeping slash, the massive blade cut through hundreds of shikigami at once, clearing a huge swathe through the swarm.

A few faster or luckier ones managed to evade the main slash, but they simply slammed harmlessly against the impenetrable blue ribs of the Susanoo, unable to reach Madara within.

Having cleared the immediate threat, Madara let the Susanoo fade. He landed lightly back onto the surface of the sea, standing calmly as the water rippled around his feet.

He looked across the distance at Dagon, his crimson eyes, now blazing with the Mangekyo pattern, fixed intently on the curse.

The blue energy around Madara intensified. His skeletal Susanoo expanded further, flesh and armor forming over the bones, growing into a more complete, imposing half-humanoid form.

Simultaneously, two more spectral arms erupted from its back, bringing the total to four. Each of the four giant hands now wielded a shimmering blue energy sword.

With renewed speed and ferocity, the four swords began to move, a whirlwind of blue light that mercilessly carved through the endless tide of shikigami approaching Madara.

Cocooned safely within the chest of this empowered Susanoo, Madara looked up, his Mangekyo Sharingan locking onto Dagon hovering above the chaotic sea.

His voice, amplified slightly by the Susanoo's presence, cut through the sounds of battle, reaching everyone clearly.

"Using the same attack over and over again becomes predictable," Madara called out, his tone laced with a mixture of amusement and cold disdain.

"And frankly, it's getting boring. Let's make things a little more interesting, shall we?"

He paused, letting the challenge hang in the air. "Sixty seconds. One full minute. That's all the time I'll give you. Try anything and everything you have, your summons, your special techniques, attack me yourself. For that one minute, I will only defend. I won't attack you directly."

He folded his arms within the Susanoo's core. "But once that minute is up…" A predatory smile touched his lips. "To show a little respect for providing some entertainment, I won't finish you in one second. No... I'll give you five seconds before I end this."

"So," Madara declared, his eyes fixed on Dagon,

"Let the dance begin." As he finished speaking, the Susanoo's four swords moved even faster, becoming a near-impenetrable wall of flashing blue blades, effortlessly destroying every shikigami that dared approach.

Veins bulged prominently on Dagon's forehead, his entire body trembling with incandescent rage.

Being toyed with, provoked, and humiliated by this human… this human with no cursed energy was unbearable. Being told he'd be finished off in five seconds? It was the ultimate insult.

Consumed by fury, Dagon cast aside any complex strategy. He poured all his energy into his summons, directing the endless swarm and his larger shikigami with a single, primal command:

Kill him!

He completely forgot about the three sorcerers on the beach, his entire focus narrowed down to obliterating the arrogant man standing on the water.

Just as Madara had declared, Dagon attacked relentlessly, and Madara, true to his word, only defended.

55 seconds left.

The massive fish shikigami lunged, the endless swarm surged forward. Madara, still encased in the defensive shell of his half-humanoid Susanoo, met the onslaught.

The four swords danced, parrying, slicing, destroying every creature that came within range. His movements were fluid, precise, almost casual despite the overwhelming numbers attacking him.

50 seconds left.

Not a single shikigami managed to touch Madara's body. The Susanoo acted as an absolute shield, while its swords were instruments of effortless destruction against the summons.

Watching from the beach, the three sorcerers could barely track the movement of the Susanoo's blades; the speed was simply too great for their eyes to follow properly.

45 seconds left.

Madara remained perfectly still within the Susanoo, arms folded, crimson eyes watching Dagon with cold amusement.

He made no move to advance or attack Dagon himself, merely allowing his Susanoo's automatic defenses and swordplay to handle the endless tide of summons.

He welcomed every attack, effortlessly repelling them, just as he'd promised.

40 seconds left.

The sheer intensity of the battle on the water was staggering. An unending storm of monstrous creatures crashed against an immovable blue wall of energy and blades.

Any ordinary sorcerer, even a skilled Jonin shinobi from Madara's world, would have been overwhelmed and exhausted long ago by such a relentless assault.

But Dagon's opponent wasn't ordinary. He was facing someone who had defied fate, who had stared death in the face and spat back. He was facing Madara Uchiha.

35 seconds left.

….
