Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Learning in the Dark

The Trouble snarled, baring its sharp teeth, and lunged at me again. This time, I didn't hesitate. Although the fear was still present, a new feeling was beginning to grow inside me: determination. I wasn't going to let that thing hurt anyone else.

I concentrated with all my might, trying to manipulate the pieces of metal still scattered on the floor. I tried to lift them, shape them, turn them into projectiles. It was incredibly difficult. My mind struggled to control the energy, to give it a tangible form. The metal fragments trembled, rising a few inches, but I couldn't manage to direct them precisely.

The Trouble was approaching rapidly. I narrowly dodged one of its swipes, feeling the air move around me. It was much faster than it looked. I needed something bigger, something with more impact.

My gaze fell on a toppled traffic sign lying a few feet away. It was a thick, heavy metal pole. I focused on it, imagining its weight, its solidity. With intense mental effort, I tried to lift it. This time, the vibration in my hands was stronger, more defined. The pole trembled, then slowly rose from the ground, floating in the air as if it weighed nothing.

The creature seemed surprised by this new development. It paused for a moment, its glowing eyes fixed on the pole floating in front of me. I took advantage of that moment of hesitation. With a stifled scream, I threw the metal pole at the Trouble.

The impact was much more forceful than the one with the dumpster. The pole struck the creature in the chest with a dull thud, sending it staggering back several feet. The Trouble let out an agonized shriek, a mixture of pain and fury.

I looked at the people on the ground. Some were staring at me with their mouths open, others were still too scared to move. They didn't seem to understand what was happening. To them, an ordinary boy was suddenly moving metal objects with his mind.

Trouble slowly rose to his feet, his body writhing in rage. He looked hurt, but not defeated. He lunged at me once more, with renewed ferocity. This time, I was the one who backed away, trying to maintain my distance while trying to control the heavy metal pole.

The fight turned into a chaotic dance in the darkness of the street. Me, a boy with no combat training, trying to use my newfound power to defend myself against a monstrous creature. Trouble, driven by his killer instinct, attacking with supernatural agility and strength.

At one point, the creature managed to get close enough and swiped at me with a claw, which I narrowly dodged. I felt its sharp claws graze my cheek, leaving a shallow cut that began to bleed. The pain made me stagger, giving Trouble a chance to strike again.

Just as the creature lunged at me, a shadow moved swiftly from a nearby alley. An invisible gust of wind hit the Trouble hard, knocking it off course and sending it slamming into a wall. The creature grunted in surprise and turned toward the dark alley, but there was no one there.

I looked around, confused. What had that been? Was someone else here?

Taking advantage of Trouble's confusion, I swung the metal pole at him again, striking him hard on the head. This time, the creature fell to the ground with a thud, motionless. After a few seconds of tense waiting, its body began to fade, as if it were turning into smoke. In a matter of moments, only a trail of dust remained on the pavement.

I stood there, gasping for air, my heart pounding, adrenaline coursing through my veins. I'd done it. I'd defeated Trouble. But I wasn't alone. Someone else had helped me, even if I didn't know who.

I looked down the dark alley, feeling a pang of curiosity and a new sense of danger. I knew my life had changed forever. I was no longer just Ryu Hyuk, the invisible boy. Now I was someone... marked. And I wasn't alone in this new and dangerous world.
