Wizbell's Diary
After a few days, it became easy to adapt to my new routine of waking up early and going to school. Classes have had their ups and downs depending on what the teacher is covering. Since there are many foals, the class tries to follow a general pace to guide everyone... but honestly, that just annoys me. The topics that are complex for an average foal aren't really challenging for me.

Where someone might hit a wall due to their limited understanding, my knowledge from my past life and my thirst for learning fill in the blanks, allowing me to grasp concepts that would normally be difficult for a foal. But it's not all peachy: that same advantage has also become a drawback, as it has led me to form preconceptions about certain topics, which sometimes causes me to misunderstand them—especially when it comes to magic and some of the physical laws of this world, which are very different from my previous, magic-less universe.
In this world, the Sun and Moon actually orbit around the Earth... how is that even possible? DISCORD made it possible... damn, his very existence is like saying, "A wizard did it."
If something doesn't make sense, it's probably Discord's fault—he played with reality itself and altered many things during the years he was free to do as he pleased.
Another thing I discovered has to do with runes. The real problem with understanding them is that my knowledge of language isn't exactly normal... What do I mean?
I mean that when I woke up in this colorful—if not-so-childish—world, I could already communicate fluently with its inhabitants and somehow understand their language. That made me lose a certain connection to the native tongue, since I mastered it in a way that bypassed the usual learning process.
Everyone is supposed to learn the meaning and history of words and letters... but I only know what I learned from my world, and that difference changes everything.
The Runes book I had abandoned didn't cover that topic, because the author assumes the reader learned to read and write using Equestria's standard method... but I learned through a completely different system.
That meant I lacked the fundamental base needed to study runes. I never learned it, never developed that foundation—I skipped it entirely. And that made me incapable of understanding runes, even though it's not a difficult subject for ponies with magical talent.
To solve that problem, I had to buy a Calligraphy book—the kind used to teach foals from noble families. It teaches how to trace letters properly and explains the origins of certain words and symbols, some of which are the foundations of primitive runes.
The book helped me a lot. What didn't make sense before suddenly clicked once I started reading it. Everything started to flow more smoothly. I wouldn't become a runes master anytime soon, but I could now roughly interpret a rune's meaning or function. A strange awareness began to awaken—the more I studied runes, the better I became at deciphering the basic ones.
A strange magical phenomenon was occurring as I learned. It just didn't make sense how easily the knowledge was coming to me. And there's a name for it: a magical phenomenon where foreign knowledge is planted in the mind of the rune learner. It's like my mind was a blank notebook, and someone else was writing runes and their meanings into it—but I could only recall fragments.
[Astral Inheritance.] That's what the phenomenon is called. Maybe, at some point, a pony interfered with pony magic in a way that allowed certain knowledge to be inherited when specific conditions were met. That's why there are cases of ponies doing amazing things without any prior experience—like the songs of harmony. How is it possible that everypony knows the lyrics, the rhythm, the choreography, and everything else?
The key to unlocking that inheritance lies in the Cutie Marks. They're like a key that grants access to certain knowledge... or they make it easier to assimilate it. There's no clear answer, but it's fascinating how it works, because you don't even notice it unless you're really introspective about your own identity.
Now, back to the most interesting part of the day: today we'll be using a magic scroll in class.
Not just any scroll—but one capable of revealing a hidden nature within our magic. A very important trait when learning spells, and one that helps determine our future path if we choose to become imperial court mages.

Not just any scroll—but one capable of revealing a hidden nature within our magic. A very important trait when learning spells, and one that helps determine our future path if we choose to become imperial court mages.

Wizbell's POV
"Alright, class, the moment you've all been waiting for these past two weeks has finally arrived. As you can see, these are the scrolls we'll be using for today's activity—all provided by Princess Celestia herself. Without the royal treasury's support, getting so many would've been impossible. They're not cheap to make... Now, let's begin. When I call your name, please come up to the podium," Miss Maple announced, pointing to the pyramid-shaped stack of scrolls on her desk—eighteen in total. She began calling names according to the attendance list, which meant I would be last.
...
Lyra was the first to go. She stood nervously in front of the teacher, her hoof slightly trembling as she picked up the scroll and infused it with magic, activating it. A complex magical circle appeared over her horn. From my distance, I couldn't make out the details, but I could tell it was intricate.
It didn't take long for the magical elements she was compatible with to begin manifesting. The magic took on cartoonish forms: a musical note, a swirling gust of wind, and a ball of water were the elements that appeared.
From the moment the musical note emerged as her primary element, Lyra's face lit up with a huge smile. She completely ignored the other elements that followed. Musical magic would be a big plus if she chose to pursue a career in music—which, clearly, she would, given how much she loved playing her favorite instrument.
"Did you see that?! You had to see it! My primary element is music! I'm destined to be a great artist!" Lyra shouted with excitement as she bounced back to her seat, barely able to stay still from all the joy.
"Congrats! I... don't really know what element I'd want, but I think gravity magic could be a good option. I remember Wizbell once told me I seemed to have a knack for it... but I don't know. I feel like it won't be my main one," Twilight said, more calmly, in contrast to the still-babbling Lyra, who was dreaming out loud about all the ways she could use her newfound magic to improve her music.
"Well, we'll find out in a few minutes," I said—and it really was just a few, because soon enough, Twilight's name was called.
She stood and walked to the podium stiffly, silent the whole way until she activated the scroll.
"Huh?!" she gasped as a glowing orb with a rainbow-colored star formed first, followed by a cluster of magic stars matching the color of Twilight's aura. Then came a small apple, representing gravity, and finally, an orb filled with light.
Twilight looked confused—just like everyone else. Well, only those who actually understood the oddity of her first element. It was magical, yes, but the rainbow colors made it impossible to classify or understand what it was tied to.
"This is new," Miss Maple remarked, clearly astonished as well.
"Well, we can only guess at its meaning for now. You've got an interesting future ahead of you. Go ahead and return to your seat," she said gently, nudging Twilight, who remained distracted and deep in thought, trying to figure out what that mysterious, rainbow-colored magical element could mean. She walked back with her head down, still puzzled.
With the same stiffness she had when walking up to the podium, Twilight returned to her seat and sat down silently.
"Do you think she's upset about her magical nature?" Lyra whispered, a bit worried. Twilight's reaction had been the dullest of the day. Lyra glanced at her several times, but Twilight remained lost in her thoughts.
"No, she's just contemplating, trying to guess the meaning of her magical nature," I said while solving the demonic cube on level 1. I had learned how to select the difficulty level. If I used it on level 2, it would draw too much attention. The cube no longer let me touch it with my hooves—it forced me to use telekinesis, which wasn't great for the low profile I was trying to keep.
"Hm... okay." Lyra didn't look entirely convinced about leaving Twilight alone, but she decided to follow my advice anyway, though her worried gaze never left Twilight.
"Wizbell, you're the last one. Come up here," Miss Maple called once the final filly had finished.
'Let's see what fate has in store for me.' I took the scroll and waited a moment before activating it, so I could feel the latent magic inside.
I took a deep breath and channeled my magic into the scroll, which absorbed it like a sponge—but only a tiny amount, just enough to activate the magical circuit within and perform its function.
A warm energy surged through my body, gathering in my horn. That was the moment I opened my eyes to witness the nature of my magic.
The first orb formed, revealing my dominant magical trait: a radiant star that lit up the room… "Light Magic."
It wasn't just an affinity for the light element—it was something more. It had become a trait of my magic. Normally, magical nature indicates how easily one can convert their magic into an element. But in front of me, the orb showed pure magical energy, with properties like light—but different.
The same phenomenon as Twilight's, except my magical trait was easier to interpret. My magic already carried a light, or sacred, property. It was easy to feel through the sensation it gave—something beyond simple light, with a deeper sense of mastery and mystery.
I was so amazed by my magical trait that I nearly missed the other natures that followed: Space-Time, Earth, and Life Magic—the branch necessary to become a White Mage like Mom. All good and diverse talents.
"Today brought us two surprises. With that, we conclude the activity," Miss Maple announced.
"Now, for this week's homework, I want you to write half a paragraph about the properties or potential of your magical natures. In Twilight and Wizbell's special case, you'll write about what you felt or what you think your magical trait is. You'll need to do some deeper research, so ask an adult for help."
I barely paid attention to the teacher's instructions as I walked back to my seat.
Lyra and Twilight were already busy writing down the assignment and listing their discovered elements. I started writing too, but my mind was still focused on that feeling I had when the orb appeared before me. The sensation it gave wasn't ordinary, and neither was the serenity it radiated.
'It's not just light—it's something more. Almost like divine or sacred energy,' I thought, comparing the feeling I got from my magical trait to the light nature Twilight displayed.
I consider it sacred energy... Something inside me feels it that way. It's just a hunch, nothing logical—but in this world, that's not surprising at all.
The most curious thing about all of this is that I'm not a believer in any divine entity, so my magical trait shouldn't be something "bestowed" upon me, as I've read in some novels. It's a trait of my soul or my current body... whatever the case, it's my magical trait.
I try to recall anything related to divine magic, but there's nothing like that in this world. The closest thing was the old religion of the Sun and Moon, which Princess Celestia abolished as soon as it emerged, because she doesn't consider herself a goddess—something she's tried to make clear for centuries. Still, it's hard not to think of her that way when she's been alive for thousands of years.
The other entity is Harmony, something close to a goddess or god. Ponies refer to her as a feminine entity that exists above everything, alongside destiny. But she's not seen as an all-powerful being—she's more of a symbolic figure that shows up in everyday pony speech, kind of like how the word "pony" is used as a gender-neutral subject for everything.
I leaned back in my seat, trying to think about what properties my magical trait might have, compared to what fantasy stories from my past life would suggest.
