Ian and Adrian quickly left the building where the altar was located and continued towards the huge building at the center of the ruins. Along the way, they traversed smaller areas, and from time to time, they found a few scattered resource points.
During one of their explorations, they found a few worn out storage chests that held some low-level weaponry and a few energy crystals. Although Adrian felt that these resources weren't much, he didn't mind them and put them into his storage ring one by one.
"Although they are all low-grade goods, it's better than nothing." Adrian muttered softly.
Ian smiled faintly and continued forward, "Don't be too greedy, good things aren't that easy to find."
"You are standing on your feet, do you know how much resources my Free Chamber spent on this defense, if I couldn't find more good stuff in the relics, I would have lost a lot of money, but the good thing is that I've already paid back my money now."
The two continued to move forward while talking, and after some distance, they suddenly heard a faint moan coming from the front. Ian and Adrian looked at each other and quickly raised their guard, cautiously approaching the source of the sound.
Soon, they found a bruised and battered member of the Enlightenment Alliance next to a collapsed stone pillar. This person's face was pale, his chest was stained red with blood, and he was lying on the ground in pain.
Ian immediately went forward to check the injuries and asked with a frown, "Are you okay? What happened?"
That Enlightenment Alliance member struggled to open his eyes, and when he saw Ian and Adrian, he instantly revealed a faint look of joy, "Lord Ian, Lord Adrian, great, I finally met you guys."
Adrian frowned, "Hurry up, what happened?"
The man gasped, "I met up with President Alexander and a few others and explored together, we originally found some treasures in an area, but just as we were taking them away, a large group of mutated beasts suddenly appeared, including several Luminary level monsters. We desperately resisted, but the disparity in strength was too great to fight against."
Ian's expression was grave as he eagerly pursued, "What about Alexander and the others?"
The Enlightenment Alliance member responded with difficulty, "Lord Alexander fled towards the eastern area with his remaining men, but the mutant beasts were in hot pursuit, and I was wounded while breaking the back, so I could only hide here."
Ian quickly stood up and looked at Adrian with a serious expression, "We must go save them!"
Adrian, however, hesitated, "Ian, are you sure? There may be more dangers ahead, and besides, Alexander and the others won't necessarily last until we get there. If we continue to the center building, we might still be able to make something of it."
Ian shook his head firmly and said, "We can't just abandon them. Right now our companions are in danger, and no matter how rich our harvest is, it is not as important as their lives. Moreover, have you forgotten what I told you guys? There is still a huge threat in the ruins, we can't just lose a Luminary class combatant like this, are you confident that you can walk away from the ruins in one piece by yourself? "
After a moment of silence, Adrian sighed helplessly, "You're right, after all, our three forces are now on the same boat, if the Enlightenment Alliance really falls, I'm afraid it will be hard for us to support it as well."
Ian patted Adrian's shoulder gratefully, "Believe me, we will definitely succeed this time. As long as we are united, there is no difficulty we can't overcome."
Adrian shrugged his shoulders and smiled bitterly, "Since you've said so, then I can only accompany you on your adventure, and if I save Alexander, I can also ask him for a little payment."
After the two decided, Ian quickly and briefly treated the seriously injured Enlightenment Alliance member for his injuries, and after placing him in a relatively safe location, he immediately rushed towards the eastern region.
Along the way, the two of them clearly saw obvious traces of battle, with broken weapons and mutant beasts' corpses scattered everywhere, and blood staining the ground in a shocking manner.
Soon, Ian keenly captured the fluctuation of the intense battle in the distance with his insect senses enhancement, "Adrian, it's just ahead, hurry up!" Adrian quickened his pace and quickly followed Ian's rhythm, running towards the direction of the battle.
They finally arrived at the scene of the battle, only to see that Alexander was leading the few remaining members of the Enlightenment Alliance, barely forming a defensive formation, struggling to fend off the attacks of the mutant beasts, with Alexander facing five Luminary-class mutant beasts alone.
Just as Alexander and the others were about to be unable to support themselves, a dazzling shadow storm suddenly came out of nowhere and swept through, instantly sending a mutant beast that was about to launch a fatal attack flying. The crowd looked up, only to see Adrian standing in front of them, clad in magnificent armor and holding the long spear that emanated great power.
"Looks like we came at the right time." Adrian said confidently, the lance in his hand exuded terrifying energy fluctuations, and instantly swung it again, the lance pierced through the air like lightning, repelling several other Luminary-class mutant beasts.
Ian also followed closely behind, his lightning longsword suddenly lit up with a blinding light, quickly joining the battle and decapitating the approaching Flare-class mutant beasts. Seeing the support from the two, Alexander was instantly boosted in morale and quickly adjusted his formation, cooperating with Ian and Adrian to stabilize the temporary situation.
On the battlefield, the people quickly converged and cooperated with each other silently, Adrian showed amazing combat power with his newly acquired powerful weapons and armor, and after losing two Luminary-class mutant beasts, the beasts gradually retreated.
After the battle was over, Alexander said weakly, "Ian, Adrian, thanks to you guys this time, or else I'm afraid we really can't hold on."
Adrian raised his lance in triumph, "Don't mention it, these guys are really unbeatable. Looks like my new equipment is still useful! Also, Alexander, you owe me a favor, you'll have to pay me when you get out."
"Okay no problem, you guy, you can't get away from money in three sentences." Alexander said helplessly. Ian suddenly asked, "Alexander, what treasure did you get that can make these mutant beasts chase after you so hard?"
