She froze, her heart drumming against her rib cage.
"Oh no, no," she covered her hands with her mouth.
These zombies standing right in front of her were neither flesh walkers nor shamblers. These were different.
"Oh damn it, what are these?" She took a step backwards.
[Beep! Level 3 zombies - flesh binders detected!]
Curse this system!
"Oh no," a cold sweat broke out on her forehead
Their tattered clothing hung from their bodies in ragged strips, stained dark with old blood and fresh wounds that oozed sluggishly from torn flesh. Unlike the bloated shamblers she was used to, these zombies were lean, almost wiry, their muscles pulled tight beneath pallid, sinewy skin.
A loud draggy groan pierced through the tense air. Her eyes shifted to that of the man lying on the ground. His eyes rolled back into his sockets that were almost bulging out, with his eyes burning a sickly yellow, with terrifying focus.
His body twisted and oversized, with sinewy muscles ripping through torn, rotting flesh. Its limbs were growing unnaturally longer, fingers ending in jagged claws, and his jaw hung open in a permanent snarl, dripping blackened saliva. His Bones jutted out at strange angles, and patches of exposed skin pulsed like something alive underneath.
Soo Min-ji gawked at the man slowly mutating into a Zombie in front of her. Before her very eyes!
"What the hell is going on?" Her eyes almost popped out of their sockets as she watched him growl horrified.
A loud roar got her attention as a flesh binder charged at her with full force.
She took to her heels, running as fast as she can.
"Aegenesis! How come I'm only experiencing the zombies on higher levels?" She gasped.
[Beep! It's not depending on you, it depends on the area they are clouted together, and you happen to be there.]
She cursed under her breath, "Why can't you just warn me on the areas I should, and should not go to?" She rolled her eyes angrily.
She heard a screeching sound behind her. Her heart almost dropped when she turned around to see it was a flesh binder catching up to her.
"These are faster too?" She panicked, quickly swerving right, "Oh my gosh! No!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, whipping her dagger out.
"Pretty human!" She heard a familiar voice behind her.
Her eyes widened, but she couldn't turn around for the fear of the zombie attacking her too soon."
"Find a place to hide! As long as any of these haven't touched you yet, they can not sense you!" He yelled.
Her eyes darted around, sweat dripping down her forehead.
"Roar!" She heard its disturbing voice behind her, "What the hell?" She quickly acted to defend herself, driving the dagger straight into its shoulder blade on instinct.
It stopped chasing after her, weakened by the blade that was now stuck in its shoulder blade.
"Son of a bitch!" Heuk Jin swerved up right behind it, taking of its head with one clean arc of his katana. Its head rolled off in the sand, while its body dropped to the ground.
Soo Min-ji dropped to the ground, shaking.
"Pretty human!" He ran to hold her shoulders, "See? I told you not to bother!" He frowned deeply at her.
She whipped her head to look at him, "How was I supposed to know he was going to mutate?" She almost choked on her saliva.
"Well at least listen to someone who came here months before you did!" He rolled his eyes helping her get to her feet.
"You do not have a weapon with you, so stay behind me, and be at alert."
Soo Min-ji groaned as more sweat trickled down her forehead, "Do I have a choice?"
The flesh binders noticed where they were standing, then charged at them at full speed.
"This is going to be a long day," he flipped his katana up in the air, snapping his neck to the side, then back to the zombies"Now watch me save you princess," a corner of his lips curled up in a smirk before grabbing itjr katana before it landed to the ground, then ran towards the zombies.
Before they could react, he had swept off some of their head with an arc of his katana. Black blood spilled, and smeared his sword.
The other closed in on him, but he kicked two of them at once, thrusting his katana in one of the zombie's head, right through its eyes. The katana stuck out the other side of its head but he was swift to pull the katana back out.
"Damn you," he cursed, swinging it again, swiping off a row of fleshbinders' heads all at once sending heads flying all around, rolling in the dust. Black blood, spilled and spewed everywhere but he didn't mind.
"Wow," Min-ji's jaws dropped, "How did he do that?" Her eyes widened in shock.
The fleshbinders came pouring in on him, but he did a double spun kick sending them flying around, so he had time to catch his breath.
"Oh well," he looked at the numbers of bodies and heads all rolling around in the dust.
Raising his palm to his chest level, he closed his eyes, focusing all his energy on his palm. A small black fire popped up, before it grew to the size of a flame sword.
Turning his hand to the right, the flamy sword stabbed about two dozen of the fleshbinders, the sword stabbing one, then goings through it to stab another in the head.
Soo Min-ji just dropped to her knees awed. This zombie was actually killing his kind to save her?!
"Aegenesis was right," she mumbled, "he really is of great help."
Cold, rugged palms gripped her hair hard from behind. She let out a piercing scream.
Before she could react, she was spun around. Her breath hitched as she looked at the mutated Zombie in the eye. Its yellow pupils had gone jet black.
With an unreal, cold grin, he immediately gripped her neck, choking her.
She pursed her lips, her face going blue as she tried to yell, "Help!"
