Chapter 12 - What the Future Holds

The eyes that looked back at Percival were not his. They belonged to someone else. It was as if he was looking at someone else.

The someone else from the dream he had dreamt not long ago.

Is this the future that I had seen? Although as it stands, I've only shattered one person, and i had no idea about it beforehand. I'm not going to purposefully shatter humans. That's not who I am.

The glow in the reflections eyes started to fade, as if affected by his mentality.

"That's it.."

My image of myself is who I appear to be physically. I've been so wrapped in my head, thinking of myself as an evil person for what I did to Larlock. That must be a physical representation of who I feel like I am.

The eyes, the face, the cracks. All of them showing me who I think I am. Whereas, when I started to believe that what I did was not my fault... the eyes faded.

You are not evil..

You have good intentions.

You save lives!

The more and more than Percival repeated these things to himself, the more he started to truly believe himself. As he peered into his reflection, he could see the cracks slowly dwindle, the red in his eyes almost completely gone. The smoke that eminated from his trench coat had started to slow.

He smiled, finally feeling as if he had overcome the dread that was caused by the last visit to Finns.

Actually that's what i meant to ask Alastair. Why is the bar named Finns, i haven't met a Finn yet. Although it could truly be possible that the reasoning is a secret. No, I doubt that.

Making up his mind he left the bathrooms, making his way out onto the street that seemed to open itself up to him. He looked around, the light from the morning sun beamed in every direction, lighting up the street in his view.

He knew he was going to the bar today, and it was only 7:30am so he had time to kill before he had to be there.

Percival headed upwards into the streets for the middle class area. He lived on the outskirts of the lower class area, so he had no trouble getting to the middle class streets.

As he walked through Lowe Street, he came across a divination centre. It had never once crossed his mind to get his future seen, nor had he ever needed it. However after the last couple days, and the impending sense of doom he held within him, he decided to walk in.

The door opened, it was silent, as if the hinges were brand new; although they were rusted and very old.

He saw a desk infront of him, to the left was a seating area, 2 couches lined a small coffee table. The couches were empty however. To Percivals right, was a hallway which led into a large room at the end, and had multiple rooms lining the walls.

He walked up to the desk. Behind it, an older lady, with long grey hair and a serious expression plastered across her face.

"Would you like to request a divination?". Her voice croaky, like a toad who'd learned to talk.

"Yes, that's why I entered a divination centre". He replied, seemingly a bit rude, although he didn't mean it to come off that way.

The lady at the desk grabbed out a folder from her drawer, opening it up she listed off many diviners, all who were available today. However, one name spoke to him.

Finn Mayston.

Perhaps it was the word Finn, but something about the name makes me feel comfortable. As if i know that this is who will give me the answers I seek.

Percival pointed to Finn Mayston, his voice resounding with confidence. "This is who I would like to divine for me".

She stood up from the desk and walked over to the large hall at the end of the corridor, a short man walked out, his hair long and his eyes, a deep purple which permeated itself into Percivals very being.

He held out his hand towards one of the rooms lining the corridor. "This way please sir". His voice arose a little high pitched but still deep in its own right.

As Percival entered through the door, he saw before him a large table and 2 chairs facing each other, sat at other ends of the table. Finn guided Percival to sit at the one closest to the door, while he made his way to the one at the end of the room.

"What would you like for me to divine for you today". A look in his eyes told Percival that this man had somehow known what Percival was about to say; however he let Percival say it.

"I would like for you to divine the danger I may face within the next few days. As clearly as possible if you might". Percival seemed sure of his wording.

"You came to the right place sir, I'm the most gifted one here as a matter of fact. His eyes glowed with a shimmering violet, as if looking deeper into Percivals soul. "I have no need for cruddy cards or orbs, I see everything how it is...truly".

Could this man be an Awakener..? His eyes, his speech, this pressure. Even the way he seems to divine without the use of physical or spiritual tools.

Even if he is an awakener, is it really my place to ask? I haven't been awakened long enough to be able to say that I truly am an awakener yet.

Before Percivals very eyes, he saw the man's hair start levitating as if he was truly looking into something serious. His eyes lowered, and his smile faded. Before Percival could say anything, the violet that shone from his eyes faded and he seemed to stare directly at Percival. Finns pupils Piercing the very soul of the young boy sat opposite him.

"You will not be safe. There will be many attempts on your life, whether out of revenge or because you possess a power that should not be in the hands of anyone". He looked at percival as if a meal for him to devour.

"You will lose control. Nobody will be able to stop you, not even Alastair. He will be killed, so will your dear parents. The world as we know it... will cease to exist.

"A power like that should not belong to someone like you. You are young, naive, you don't know your own strength. It might even be wiser to kill you where you stand".

As if on cue, rhe man who had been eyeing down Percival lunged at him from over the table. Pushing off the little trinkets that sat on it moments ago. He grabbed a hold of Percivals shirt, with a tight and powerful grip.

"Hey, I'm not here to hurt you, I purely wanted my future divined!!

"Get off me before I get you off myself".

Finn started to lift his arm behind his head, clenching his fist.

Is he going to try and kill me? I just wanted to divine my fortune.. God do I have to fight again, I haven't even gotten a grip on my ability..

Without hesitation, Finn threw his punch, connecting directly with the jaw of Percival, who now lay back in his chair, blood dripping slowly from his mouth.

He lifted his head. Bright red eyes glared at the man in front of him, who had just given him a strong fist to the jaw. Percival smiled, spitting the blood onto the carpet in the room.

"If you're truly as good at seeing the future as you make yourself out to be, then you know you shouldn't have done that. If you'd stayed quiet, I wouldn't have blamed you. If i lose control however.. I'll blame you for that".

Before Finn could react, Percival lunged at him and kicked his side, sending him flying through the wall, into the room to their left. Fortunately, the room was unoccupied at that moment.

Percival walked slowly towards Finn, who lay in a mess on the ground in the room over. The steam that emanated from his trench coat seemed to fill the room, thickening the air around them.

Percival held out his palm towards the ground, as a weapon materialised from within his grasp. He twisted the weapon between his hand like a propellor. The sharp point seemed to reflect the low light from both rooms.

Finns eyes widened. He had foreseen this, however he hadn't realised it was the moments right after that divination. He had thought it was the future, much further than that.

As he stared up at the man standing in between the two rooms, he let out a sigh, almost accepting his fate

Percival leant down towards the man now squirming in the floor, the fear within his eyes making itself obvious. With one hand he held the man in the air by his shirt, bringing him back to the chair that opposed the door in the first room. He sat Finn down and sat back in his chair. Percivals eyes narrowed.

"You aren't a bad person for wanting to take my life, I'm smart enough to understand that. What i don't understand is why you're so afraid? What have you seen? As a customer I have the right to know, and as it's my ability, i need to know what to look out for".

Finn thought for more than 2 minutes, the room, silent. Both kept their eyes narrowly fixed on the other, watching, waiting for one to move.

"I saw you hovering over hundreds of dead bodies. Your red eyes scanned every body. You were walking through as if looking at what you had done. The buildings around you were destroyed, there was not a single living person in sight. Then i saw you kick me through the wall, walking towards me, looking as if you were about to kill me. I had thought that these visions were in order, however it may not be the case.

"I apologise for jumping into a fight with you like that, however you are too dangerous to let live. I stand by that, no, i stand by my decision. Alastair has no idea what kind of monter he's creating.

"He never has known what he was doing. It's always too late when it comes to him. If only he could also see what was coming" Finn paused; the time seemingly paused with him. Percival lifted his eyebrows.

"You know Alastair..?".

"I don't just know him. I'm his brother, however most times I wish we weren't. He's a loaded gun, you never know what crazy idea will fill his damn head next.

"Do me a favour and passed on a message. Tell him I said that he needs to think it through carefully, he'll know what I mean. Even if you dont tell him im sure hell see this".

Does he mean to say to Alastair to rethink keeping me with the team?.. no, it's most likely something else, an insider piece of knowledge.

Percival stood up from his chair, he had enough of the constant back and forth with the short man infront of him. He walked out of the door after paying Finn his 2 Shillings.

Walking onto the street he realised it was 9, he figured he would head towards Finns bar, even if he was a bit early.
