Chapter 90 - Whispers from Home

(Opening Scene: Headmaster Theron sits at the head of a long, mahogany table in the academy's council chamber. Around him are the senior instructors and several of the academy's most knowledgeable scholars, their expressions grave as they discuss the catastrophic event in the hidden training grounds.)

"The sheer scale of the energy release is unprecedented," Headmaster Theron stated, his voice resonating with concern. "The complete annihilation of matter… it defies conventional magical understanding. We must ascertain the nature of this combined power and how to prevent its recurrence."

Master Eldrin, looking weary after days of intensive research, shook his head. "Headmaster, my team and I have scoured the academy's archives, consulted ancient texts, and even delved into forbidden knowledge. We have found no reference, no historical precedent, for void energy exhibiting such… absolute negation. It's as if the power doesn't exist within our recorded magical history."

A murmur of unease rippled through the council. The idea that a fundamental aspect of Zane's magic was entirely unknown was deeply unsettling. It suggested a connection to forces beyond their current comprehension.

Mistress Elara echoed his findings regarding the fusion with Astrid's elemental power. "The resulting energy signature was equally anomalous. The unstable electrifying force… it was a chaotic blend that shouldn't theoretically occur. It was as if their very magical essences intertwined in a way we cannot explain."

The discussion continued, filled with theories and speculation, but concrete answers remained elusive. The power Zane and Astrid had inadvertently unleashed was an enigma, a force that defied the established laws of magic as they understood them.

Just as the meeting reached a frustrating impasse, a senior administrative assistant rushed into the council chamber, his face pale and slightly flustered.

"Headmaster," he stammered, "there are… visitors. Representatives from House Montaigne. They have received news of the incident involving Lady Astrid and a student named Zane. They have arrived unexpectedly and request an immediate audience."

A hush fell over the council. The unexpected arrival of representatives from one of the most powerful and influential noble houses in the realm added another layer of complexity to the already delicate situation. The news of Astrid's involvement, and the potentially dangerous power she had displayed alongside Zane, had clearly reached her family. Their sudden appearance could signify concern, anger, or a desire to intervene in the academy's handling of the situation.

Headmaster Theron sighed, the weight of the academy's responsibilities pressing down on him. "Show them in," he instructed, his mind already racing to prepare for this unexpected and potentially volatile encounter.
