Once Amelia completed her awakening, she walked back to her seat with a proud little bounce in her step. Without warning, she leaned in and hugged Lucas tightly, grinning from ear to ear.
"Well? Aren't I amazing?" she said, clearly fishing for praise. "Not just anyone awakens a black-grade talent with dual affinities, you know."
"Whoa! You're a genius among geniuses, Your Highness," Moses gushed, eyes wide with admiration.
"No kidding," Lucas added, chuckling as he gently patted her head. "You're seriously awesome, Amelia."
Amelia giggled, clearly pleased. "Hehe… thanks. Oh, looks like you're up next!"
Lucas's name had just been called by one of the priests, his voice sounding across the temple.
Lucas rose slowly to his feet, a strange mix of nerves and calm swirling inside him. "Well, here goes nothing," he said, trying to sound confident, though his heart pounded like a war drum in his chest.
He walked up the stairs to the elevated platform, where the large Talent Crystal stood—pulsing faintly with a soft, ethereal glow. The crowd watched in silence.
"Place your hand on the crystal and close your eyes," the priest instructed gently.
Lucas obeyed, pressing his palm to the surface of the crystal. It was cold—almost icy. He closed his eyes and waited. Seconds ticked by. Nothing happened.
He opened one eye hesitantly. Still nothing.
A terrible sinking feeling began to form in his stomach.
No way… am I a non-Awakened?
Disappointment washed over him like a tidal wave. His heart ached as he looked at the priest, eyes already bracing for the blow of confirmation.
"I'm sorry, child…" the priest began, his voice low with regret. "It seems you don't have the aptitude for magi—"
But he stopped mid-sentence.
A blinding light suddenly burst from the crystal, cutting him off. It wasn't just a glow—it was a pure, radiant white, so intense it washed over the entire temple, momentarily blinding everyone.
Gasps and cries of shock echoed around the room.
Lucas flinched instinctively, shielding his eyes. "Wha—what's happening?"
The light pulsed for a few seconds longer before dimming slightly—then, to everyone's astonishment, the pure white slowly began to darken. The crystal shifted... from white to jet black, its surface swirling with flickers of cosmic energy like stars trapped in obsidian.
The entire temple fell into stunned silence.
No one moved. No one spoke.
It was as if time itself had stopped.
The priest suddenly dropped to his knees, voice booming with disbelief and reverence: "Pay your respects to the Saint of the Dragons!"
A collective gasp rang out.
The crowd—nobles, priests, even the guards—immediately fell to their knees, bowing their heads toward Lucas. The reverence in the air was so thick it was almost suffocating.
Lucas stood frozen.
He didn't expect this level of reverence... but this? This was something else entirely. But when he thought about it, it all kinda made sense Saints hadn't appeared in centuries. Even in the anime, there was never a Dragon Saint—only Human or Elf saints had ever been mentioned.
This was… uncharted territory.
Before he could fully process the moment, the priest gestured toward the second crystal. "Please, Saint… if you would check your elemental affinity."
Lucas stepped forward, still dazed. He placed his hand on the Affinity Crystal, unsure what to expect. At first, it glowed a little bit… then, suddenly, it shifted.
A brilliant purple glow radiated from the crystal, and streaks of lightning crackled along its surface.
The crowd gasped.
Then the purple faded, replaced by a deep, vibrant red. Flames danced across the crystal like living creatures, licking at the air.
And then, impossibly, the red gave way to a bright white colour. Not just ordinary white—it was..... Majestic, crystalline, and serene. and a golden hue formed on the edges of the crystal.
Three elemental affinities.
Lightning. Fire. and Light.
The silence that followed was even heavier than before.
Even Lucas, standing right in front of it, was speechless. Did I… just awaken three elements? That's not even supposed to be possible.
A priest behind him collapsed to his knees again. "A Saint… with three affinities…"
Pandemonium erupted.
People were screaming in disbelief, whispering frantically, shouting for clarity. Some had their mouths wide open. Others looked like they were witnessing the end of an era—or perhaps the start of a new one.
All the priests rushed to the platform, surrounding Lucas. They bowed low, robes fluttering around them.
"We greet the Saint with reverence!" they said in unison.
The High Priest stepped forward, his face a mixture of awe and humility. "Saint Lucas… please remain behind after the ceremony.
Lucas just nodded dumbly, still trying to wrap his head around what had just happened. He slowly walked back to his seat.
Moses and Amelia were waiting, their mouths agape.
"Y-Yo… you're a Saint, Lucas!" Moses blurted out, half laughing in disbelief. "This is insane! You just turned the whole world upside down!"
"Honestly, I'm shocked," Amelia admitted, brushing a strand of hair from her face. "People had hopes I'd be the next Saintess. After all, the last one was my ancestor. But now…"
She looked at Lucas, not with jealousy, but with awe.
"And to think… three affinities? That's unheard of. No one in recorded history has awakened more than two!"
Lucas gave a sheepish shrug. "I guess… I got lucky?"
"Lucky?" Moses looked like he might faint. "Bro, you're literally like the main character of this world now!"
Lucas chuckled awkwardly. He appreciated their support, but deep down, a shadow of unease was growing.
Why did i awaken three elements??, i was already expecting a white grade talent so i'm not so suprised by that, and what does all these mean?.
Meanwhile, across Aldoria. News of the Dragon Saint's awakening spread like wildfire.
The internet was bussing with Lucas awaking video
And in that same hour, news broke from the other continents.
Saints were awakening everywhere.
In the Elven continent,
The Human continent,
The Beastmen continent,
The Merfolks continent,
And even the demon continent.
The Age of Saints had begun.
But no one knew why. Not yet.
And Lucas?
He didn't really give a fuck about the events that was happening even if it wasn't part of the script in the anime. As long as it didn't affect him or his family.
