Chapter 31 - The Plan Backfires

Hiding at the back and enjoying the chaos, Sun Peng sneered and raised his voice, trying to rally the crowd:

"Don't be afraid of her! No matter how powerful that chainsaw is, can it possibly cut through all of us at once?"

With that, he shoved forcefully ahead.

The crowd was already packed tightly together, and his push caused many to lose their balance and stumble forward.

One man, standing in the second row, seemed inspired by Sun Peng. His face twisted with malice as he shoved the person in front of him toward Annan and her chainsaw.

"Aaaaahhh!" came a heart-wrenching scream.

With a rush of momentum, he pushed another person forward and, using the two bodies in front of him to shield him from the chainsaw, swung his axe at Annan with all his strength.

Annan raised an eyebrow: *This guy's ruthless!*

But she was prepared. With a swift motion, she drew the nail gun from her waistband and shot him in the wrist.

"Aaaah!!"

The man screamed in agony, his grip loosening as his axe dropped to the ground.

Annan showed no mercy. She quickly raised her hand and fired two more shots, both striking vital points on his head.

The man's eyes bulged, filled with disbelief as he fell lifeless to the ground.

At this point, five bodies had already fallen on the 14th-floor landing, four of them utterly disfigured.

The remaining members of the crowd dared not advance. Those at the front turned and began to desperately shove their way back, trying to escape.

Annan wasn't concerned with them. She raised the nail gun and began indiscriminate fire:

"Tsk, where there are people, there's always conflict! Today, I'll graciously help you thin the herd."

They thought a chainsaw couldn't fight against so many? Well, they hadn't reckoned on her having a nail gun as well.

With a rapid series of *thwip-thwip-thwip*, chaos erupted in the crowd.

The first few were instantly struck down, and even those who had been hiding at the back, like Sun Peng and Qian Ying'er, were injured.

The combination of physical and psychological trauma drained their will to fight. They fled in panic.

Annan watched as the corridor quickly emptied out, a cold smile spreading across her face.

A bunch of bullies, easily crushed underfoot!

She kicked the bodies of the dead out of her way, sending them tumbling down the stairs without a second thought. She had no patience to chase them further. She wasn't going door-to-door, prying locks. They were starving and reckless, but she lacked for nothing.

Let them try to hide from her for the rest of their lives. If anyone dared to show their face again, she'd personally send them to the gates of hell.

Wei Wenbin, Qian Ying'er, Sun Peng… let them enjoy this gnawing, agonizing apocalypse.

---

Sun Peng's home was directly below Annan's, so he was the first to escape.

Leaning against the sofa, Wang Xiaoyu rushed over, her eyes widening in shock as she saw the blood on his arm. "What happened? How did you get hurt? Where are the supplies?"

As his lover, she never contributed to acquiring resources. She just waited for him to bring them back so she could enjoy the spoils.

She hadn't participated in the raid this time.

"What happened? So many people attacking a single woman, and you still got hurt? Didn't I tell you to stay behind?" she asked, her voice full of concern.

Sun Peng frowned deeply, holding up his injured arm. "Quick, find something to get the nail out!"

Wang Xiaoyu hesitated, looking at the bloody wound, but she gritted her teeth and, using pliers, removed the nail. She then poured alcohol on it to disinfect the wound.

Sun Peng grimaced, his eyes filling with tears from the pain.

Using the few remaining medical supplies at home, he rested for a while, before grinding his teeth and recounting the events of the day.

Wang Xiaoyu listened with disbelief.

*Such a fierce woman?!*

Her eyes darted around as an idea formed. She tugged at his sleeve and pouted, "What are we going to do now? There's no food left!"

Impatiently, Sun Peng shook her off and remained silent, his expression darkening.

They had lost three people on the top floor yesterday and another eight today on the 14th floor to Annan.

Now, only a handful of people remained in the unit, most of them injured. Not only had they come back empty-handed, but their wounded couldn't even go out to gather more supplies.

He couldn't keep going like this. He needed another plan.

He rubbed his forehead and sighed deeply.

---

Meanwhile, the other residents were similarly gloomy, especially the siblings in apartment 801.

"Ahhh! How is Annan so hard to kill?!"

Having locked themselves inside, Qian Ying'er's fear faded, replaced by seething rage.

*Why?!*

It was bad enough that Annan had come from a good background and was beautiful, but now, while everyone else was starving, she was still living so well!

So many people couldn't harm her!

Why?! *Why* was she so special?!

Qian Ying'er felt a surge of anger swelling inside her, unbearable and unrelenting.

"Kill her! I must kill her!" she screamed.

Wei Wenbin glanced at her, seeing the deranged expression in her eyes, and frowned.

"This isn't the time for that! We need to figure out how to get food first."

Qian Ying'er turned on him, demanding, "What do you want to do then?"

Wei Wenbin lowered his gaze. "Cousin, we need to stay alive first. After that, we'll figure out the rest…"

---

On the 15th floor, Zhao Ping'an and Hu Cuilan exchanged nervous glances.

After the attack from the neighbors yesterday, they had grown extra cautious. When the crowd charged upstairs this morning, they were immediately jolted awake.

Thinking it was yet another attack, they were surprised to open the door and find everyone gathered at the 14th floor.

Annan's savage killing spree had left them both stunned.

Awe-struck, Auntie Gan muttered, "Wow, this little girl is terrifying!"

Zhao Ping'an's eyes gleamed. "This girl is amazing!"

Hu Cuilan looked at her son in disbelief. "Aren't you afraid? There were limbs and arms scattered everywhere downstairs."

"Afraid of what?" Zhao Ping'an grinned, full of admiration. "You forget, my idol is the god of war Bai Qi. From today on, I'm a fan of this girl too!"

She had taken on nearly twenty people, and yet not a single hair was harmed!

"Mom, only the strong can survive in this world."

Hu Cuilan sighed deeply. "Ah, the world really has fallen apart."

---

Back in her apartment, Annan cleaned her weapons and changed out of her bloodstained clothes.

After two thorough washes, she still felt the lingering scent of blood on her skin.

Fugu, who had finished its heat cycle, was full of energy, running excitedly by her side.

*Unstoppable me, Annan! Always victorious!*

Annan smiled at the dog's antics, shaking her head.

"Flattery won't work. Your master is tired today, so I don't have the energy to make you anything special."

With a sigh, she filled Fugu's bowl with dog food. "Here, eat up, kid."

Fugu sniffed the food for a while but didn't touch it. Annan had to add a bone to entice the dog.

She, on the other hand, pulled out a homemade meal from her space: spicy shredded meat, soy-braised eggplant, stir-fried cabbage, and two portions of rice.

The steam rising from the dishes made her stomach growl in anticipation.

Just as she was about to dig in, a knock sounded at the door.
