Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Eagle Tribe of Gaoman Mountain

The World of Felander.

The Era of Titans and Dragons.

At the border of grasslands and forests, Gaoman Mountain stood tall.

The sun blazed overhead, scorching the earth!

"Gaoman Mountain Tribe, by order of the Royal Court! Fifty eagle warriors are to be conscripted! You have three days to report to the Vast Sea Forest and heed the command of the God of Thunder!"

High above the cliff.

An eagle warrior with gray-black wings hovered in the air, clutching a bone spear. His voice boomed toward the eagle tribe gathered below.

On the cliff, amidst the crowd.

Jarius raised his head in confusion, scanning his surroundings and the sky above.

"Where… am I?!"

It didn't take long for him to notice something extraordinary.

All around him were eagle-like beings—human faces with sharp beaks, clawed feet, and wings covered in gray-black feathers. They wore crude beast hides, their bodies gaunt and faces pale, clear signs of chronic malnutrition.

And he himself? He was a young eagle, standing beside a female eagle.

Soon, fragmented memories of this young eagle flooded his mind.

"Envoy! Our tribe numbers barely two hundred. If all our able-bodied warriors leave, how will we survive in this wilderness? Please, show us some leniency!"

At the forefront of the crowd, a tall, robust eagle warrior pleaded with the envoy hovering above.

But the envoy was unmoved by their plight, replying coldly.

"Hmph, I care not for your excuses. Arrive on time, and you live. Fail, and your tribe will be eradicated!"

With that, he spread his wings and soared away, leaving the eagle tribe in despair.

That Night.

A bonfire crackled on the cliff.

Above it roasted the tribe's meager supply of meat.

The tribe's young warriors ate in silence, their families gathered close.

Jarius stood with his mother beside a towering male eagle—the tribe's chieftain, the same one who had begged the envoy earlier.

After finishing his meal, the chieftain turned to Jarius, sighing softly. He ruffled the young eagle's head with a bittersweet smile.

"My son, you must grow up strong and healthy!"

Though Jarius was no longer the original soul, the young eagle's memories stirred a pang of emotion within him.

Then, the chieftain turned to the female eagle, his tone grave.

"Azhi, the war between the Titan Gods and the Ancient Dragons has raged for a thousand years. Ten years ago, our fathers left and never returned. This time, we march to the same uncertain fate. After I'm gone, Jarius will depend on you to raise him."

Tears welled in the female eagle's eyes.

"Wing, can't we refuse? We could flee Gaoman Mountain, hide far away!"

"It's impossible," the chieftain replied, shaking his head. "The entire world is divided and ruled by Titans and Dragons. Here, we can at least cling to survival. Elsewhere, we'd face only annihilation."

"Wing, you must return safely!"

"I will."

The Next Morning.

At dawn, the tribe's warriors, led by the chieftain, took flight westward toward the Vast Sea Forest.

On the cliff, the remaining elders, women, and children watched the warriors' shrinking figures, clutching their loved ones tightly.

Three Years Later.

In a forest near Gaoman Mountain, Jarius perched on a treetop, gripping a short stone spear. His cold, vertical pupils locked onto the scene below.

Two thick-skinned boars—one large, one small—were being attacked by three forest wolves.

The smaller boar was already dead, its head half-torn by the wolves' jaws.

Enraged by the loss of its young, the larger boar charged recklessly, ignoring its wounds. It gored one wolf to death with its tusks and disemboweled another.

Leaving it writhing on the ground.

The final wolf delivered a fatal blow to the boar.

At that moment, a piercing eagle cry split the air.

Jarius dove from the treetop, wings flaring.

And drove his stone spear into the remaining wolf's eye with deadly precision.

[You have slain a forest wolf. EXP +10]

Ignoring the notification, Jarius swooped toward the wounded wolf on the ground and hurled his spear, striking its throat.

[You have slain a forest wolf. EXP +10]

The entire skirmish was over in moments—swift and ruthless.

Only then did three young eagle warriors descend to the ground.

"Jarius, you're incredible!"

"We barely got off the trees, and you'd already killed them all!"

Jarius smiled and nodded.

"Soren, Lirien, Lai, take some of the prey back to the tribe. I'll stay here and keep watch."

"Alright, Jarius, be careful!"

The three young eagles worked together to haul the two boars away.

Once they were gone, Jarius cleaned the blood from the wolves to mask the scent, then returned to the treetop.

Perched on a branch, he gazed at the setting sun in the distance, flicking the blood from his spear.

Seeing the [Game Activation Countdown], Jarius's lips twitched in frustration.

Transmigrated into an eagle with a doomed start, and the game system was still unusable.

"Am I an NPC or a player?"

He muttered, sighing deeply.

"The system's useless for now, so I'll have to rely on myself. At least I can view my attributes and skills—not completely worthless."

The sunset's golden rays filtered through the leaves, casting a warm glow.

Jarius snapped a twig and twirled it in the air, muttering to himself.

"Nothing else to do. Let's go over it again."

"It's been three years since I arrived in this world. I'm certain now—this is the ancient era of the Felander World game, the chapter of Titans and Dragons."

"Back when I played the game, it was the Fifth Chapter, the rise of the Human Empire."

"By then, the era of Titans and Dragons was long gone. After the Great War, the Titans vanished, and the dragons retreated to Dragon Island."

"There's little record of this period in my memory, but one event stands out: three years before the final war between Titans and Dragons, the God of Thunder, Yatri, slew the Ancient Dragon Emperor's beloved youngest son, the Blue Dragon King Alileitos, in a territorial dispute."

"That was the ancestor of the later blue dragons."

"That event was the spark."

"The Dragon Emperor, in his fury, rallied his entire race to wage war against the Titans, leading to mutual destruction. Meanwhile, the goblins seized the chance to rise!"

"I didn't pay much attention to the eagle tribe's history in the lore."

"At this time, the eagle race is still ruled by a Royal Court, governing hundreds of thousands of eagles across the ancient world, considered one of the intelligent races."

He glanced at his feathered body and sighed.

"In the Fifth Chapter, eagles are just weak fodder monsters, no longer counted among the intelligent races. Players don't even get the option to start as an eagle."

"Honestly, the eagle race's potential is pitifully low. This young eagle body—I've tried countless methods from later eras, but I can't awaken any extraordinary power."

"No talent means no talent!"

"If I can't even awaken the extraordinary, what hope is there for the future?"

His brow furrowed in thought.

"But I recall a legend from the Fifth Chapter."

"A common turtle in the ancient era bathed in Titan blood and became a demigod, surviving until the players' arrival."

"I originally planned to awaken my own extraordinary power that way."

"But in these three years, I've heard that bathing in Titan blood doesn't make you stronger—it burns you to death, without exception!"

"So why could that old turtle bathe in Titan blood, not only surviving but mastering the extraordinary?"

Jarius fell into deep contemplation.

"I completed that turtle's questline. If I think it through carefully, there might be a clue!"
