For some reason, the conversation seemed to be heading in a rather strange direction. Needless to say, half the things my clones were saying sounded completely unfamiliar—concepts and terms I had no clue how to interpret.
While I could somewhat grasp ideas like "system" and "universal races" that didn't mean I actually understood what those terms meant in practice.
"First things first, try saying "system" Or just think it, if that's easier" my female clone said. Her voice carried an oddly familiar tone, like something I'd heard before.
Honestly, I had no idea what was going on. Still, it didn't feel like they were trying to deceive me—it just didn't make sense. Why on earth would anyone go to all this trouble just to mess with some random college student you could bump into anywhere?.
In the end, I decided to follow my female self's instructions. I closed my eyes for a moment, focused, and mentally spoke the word. A second later, a sort of translucent screen materialized in front of me, as if it had always been there—just waiting to be revealed.

(So... this is the system?) I thought, narrowing my eyes as I examined the translucent screen that had suddenly appeared before me.
Even though this whole thing still felt like a lucid dream, the vividness of the details made it feel eerily real. In the end, resisting wouldn't change anything, and the best choice I had was to just move forward and deal with whatever came next.
First, I decided to look at my stats. To my surprise, my level was listed as zero. Why? I had no idea—but that's what it said. Right below that were my attributes: strength, agility, perception, physical constitution, and willpower, listed in that order.
Above that were my name, race, something called a unique skill, my health, and also my mana—which, for some reason, was full. But one thing really stood out: another name was listed beside mine, and my race was different. Was I not human anymore?.
Honestly, I didn't feel any different, aside from the fact that I now had two bodies. Maybe I'd stared too long at the word "race" on the screen or something, because suddenly a new window popped up above the previous one.
Dyadren – A race long thought to be extinct. These beings are born with two bodies—one male, one female—naturally linked by a single consciousness. This rare trait was essential for their survival and growth over the ages, allowing them to thrive on their home planet, an extremely hostile and unforgiving environment for most life forms. When the female body is fertilized, two new beings are born simultaneously, forming a single individual with two separate bodies that share thoughts, sensations, and a unified identity.
Both my male and female selves froze as we read the description. For a moment, we exchanged a silent glance, like we'd both reached the same unsettling conclusion at the same time.
Our eyes locked onto a particular part of the text glowing on the screen: "When the female body is fertilized, two completely independent beings are born" A chill ran down my spine. I wasn't sure why, but something deep inside whispered that I knew exactly what that meant. Still, I was nothing like the original version of this race.
Just the idea of something like that made me uneasy. I mean, no matter how you looked at it, I'd basically be doing that... to myself. How the hell was that even supposed to work? Honestly, it was more than my human mind could handle.
In the end, I chose to ignore that part. I knew doing so might help me stay calm—freaking out wasn't going to help anything. So, trying to keep my focus, I shifted my attention back to what was left of the screen, eyes settling on what seemed to be my Unique Skill.
Unique Skill – An exclusive ability inherently possessed by all races across the universe. Each skill is completely unique, reflecting the traits and potential of its owner. No two are ever the same.
That was all it showed when I focused on it. Apparently, everyone started with something like this. Setting that aside, my eyes landed on the skill listed under it—Alter Ego. As with the previous times, a new screen popped up, casting a faint light around me.
Alter Ego – Two bodies, two hearts, one mind. Control both simultaneously and gain a strategic advantage in a wide range of situations. A unique skill exclusive to the Dyadren race.
The reason behind my strange racial transformation had just made itself clear. Honestly, I wasn't sure whether to complain or not—especially since, after a closer look, it seemed like a genuinely powerful Unique Skill.
At the same time, having something this unexpected felt a bit... unsettling. But still, I couldn't deny its potential. There were so many tactical possibilities I could explore, now that I had two bodies that, while acting as one, still raised plenty of questions—especially about how injuries would work.
Even so, it didn't change the fact that I had a serious advantage in a lot of situations—assuming, of course, that I could actually control both bodies efficiently and in sync.
In the end, I let out a quiet sigh and moved on to the rest of my stats. I already had a general sense of what strength, agility, and perception meant, but the last two were still kind of vague. The terms felt strangely nonspecific.
I wanted to know, for example, whether "physical constitution" was tied to health or if it was something totally separate. I tried to focus on that section, but no matter how hard I tried, nothing new came up. Maybe that was a sign that "strength" was just strength—and everything else followed that same plain logic without extra explanation.
