CHAPTER 5 - Goodbye, Village
(POV - Daniel)
So, now I can see ghosts. Having magic surprises me more and more.
Being in this world turned out to be more interesting than I thought. I wonder if there are evil or demonic ghosts, like monsters or something. It'd be interesting to fight one.
I'm a pacifist, but I need to gain experience to be able to fight more dangerous and powerful demons. I have to become much stronger than I already am.
Putting aside my future problems, right now I feel so happy and satisfied with my life. I got my grandma back, I have new friends, a new home, I said goodbye to our financial struggles, and I'm powerful. My life is improving a lot, and I hope it keeps getting better.
"By the way, do you have a girlfriend?"
"No, but I'll warn you now: I'm not interested in having a girlfriend. Don't try anything weird, because I might end up giving you money to start a new life far away from me."
"Ouch, you're so dramatic."
"Just a warning."
I need to make it clear I'm not interested in romance, so they'll treat me as a friend and won't try to flirt with me.
I just want friends, that's all I want.
•
•
Several minutes have passed since my grandma and the girls went into the river, but for the last one or two minutes, I haven't heard anything from them. There's no noise at all… and that's weird. Is something wrong?
If something bad were happening, the girls would've called for help. Are they changing clothes?
I'd look to check if they're safe, but I don't want to see my grandma bathing, and I don't want to see my companions bathing either—that'd be sexual harassment.
But the silence is too much, and it's really worrying me.
"Have they finished bathing? Miss, can you check if they're done? I'd appreciate it."
She's a woman, so asking her to check would be best.
"Who?"
"My companions are bathing in the river. Please check if they're done."
"Bathing?"
The girl turns to look at the river. I'd look too, but I don't want to disturb myself by seeing my young grandma bathing… It's already weird that she's young.
Young… My young grandma is very beautiful… Beautiful… If I, a man, get sexually harassed every day, a woman as beautiful as my grandma will surely be harassed even worse, like what happened with Sandro.
… My blood boils with rage just imagining my grandma being sexually harassed by some bastard.
I'll protect her all the time, and if some idiot tries to harass her, I'll personally break their face.
I'm a pacifist, but not an idiot.
"Hey, handsome."
"My name's Daniel."
"Hey, Daniel, there's no one bathing."
"I guess they're changing clothes."
"There's no one in the river or nearby. It's just the two of us here."
W-what did she say?
I quickly turn to where they were, and there's no one… N-no one, and their clothes are still on the riverbank… Shit!
"Damn it!"
I only let my guard down a bit because I thought Sara and Alex could protect my grandma! Are they in danger?! Arghhh! I'm the worst grandson!
I stand up and look around, hoping to find a clue, but there's no one and nothing. N-nothing… Arghhh! Something definitely happened to them! Why didn't they call for help?! Did a demon kidnap them?! No, grandma!
"Where could they have gone?! Miss, are there monsters around here?!"
"Orcs are very common in this area; they probably took them."
"Orcs?! What's an Orc?!"
"They're like giant pigs; they kidnap women to… procreate… You get what I mean."
A-an Orc, l-like the Orcs from fantasy stories. They have those Orcs here too. Did an Orc kidnap my grandma?! Noooo!
I won't let my grandma be defiled! I'll protect her with my life! No one will touch my grandma!
"Shit!"
No one's going to defile my grandma; they'll have to kill me first!
They'll regret making an enemy of me! No one hurts my grandma and gets away with it!
I clasp my hands together to use the same spell Sara used. I focus on picturing my grandma and companions so the spell knows exactly what I want to find.
"Búsqueda!"
I feel my vision pierce through the trees until I see four Orcs with my grandma and companions, their legs and arms tied. Three Orcs are carrying my companions, and one is leading the front with a sword. The Orcs are pig-men wearing green pants… Pigs with pants… Damn weird world.
They dared to kidnap my grandma… Their minutes are numbered!
But are they powerful? They managed to kidnap my grandma without me noticing. Were Alex and Sara really unable to defeat them? Did they beat them so easily that I didn't even hear the fight because it was so short?
I'm starting to regret having them as companions. I can't entrust my grandma to two girls who can't protect her.
"They're very powerful, but were they caught so easily that I didn't notice?"
"They can hold their breath underwater for a long time. When women come to bathe, they come out of the water and grab them. They use a spell that takes away their voice for a minute so they can't call for help."
"I have to go get them! Those Orcs will pay!"
"Take me with you; when I was alive, I was a great adventurer!"
The more help, the better. I don't know anything about Orcs, so I shouldn't underestimate them.
"I guess I could use your help. Muslar asio!"
I pick up the girl in my arms. I'd feel nervous or embarrassed since she's hugging me tightly and I can feel her breasts against my chest, but I don't have time to get nervous—my grandma's in danger!
"By the way, what's your name?"
"Rem, master."
I blush a bit; it's embarrassing when she calls me "master." Arghhh! No, Daniel, put the nonsense aside; your grandma needs your help!
"I'm not your master!"
I prepare to fly. Grandma, hold on just a bit longer, please.
"Arches Nexus!"
I fly off.
I'm flying over the area, looking for them. Damn it, I knew I should've bathed alone!
I hope they haven't touched her inappropriately… Because if they did, they'll suffer a fate worse than death… I'll make sure of it.
"The Orcs should be… right here."
Yes, I see them. I see some Orcs who don't know they're about to die.
I land in front of the Orcs and set Rem down.
The Orcs stop, and I take a deep breath to calm myself, because if I don't calm down first, I might end up disturbing my grandma with what I might do to the Orcs.
I'd rather give them a quick death, because if I take my time torturing them, my grandma will get scared. I don't want her to be traumatized.
They're lucky my grandma's a good person, damn it.
"Dani!" my grandma says, with a big smile on her face.
"Daniel!" Alex and Sara say, crying.
"Fufu. I told you my Dani would save us!" my grandma says, puffing out her chest with pride.
… Grandma, you should be more scared. I love your optimistic side, but you were almost raped! Worry a bit more…! Ugh, but that's how my grandma is, always so optimistic and cheerful.
I'm very disappointed in them, Alex and Sara.
I thought they were powerful enough to defeat an Orc… I want strong companions, not useless filler companions.
I know it's harsh to think that, but my mission needs strong people, not weak ones.
I don't want to carry useless companions; they'd only slow down my goal: becoming powerful enough to protect my grandma.
Ugh, Daniel, take a deep breath. You need them, at least while you get used to this world.
"Let me get this straight. You're supposed to be very powerful, but you got caught so easily? My grandma has powerful magic, but she's not a warrior, unlike you two."
"They're very strong and resilient. We tried to call for help, but we couldn't speak," Sara says.
Strong and resilient? So strong that neither Sara nor Alex could defeat them? I need to find out.
One of the Orcs approaches us, the leader, ready to fight me.
"We've got another one; it's our lucky day."
Rem hides behind me, trembling with fear… Another disappointment.
"Were you really a great adventurer?"
The Orc runs toward me, clearly not taking me seriously. The Black Demon underestimated me too, so I know I need to take advantage of that.
"Espada Dex!"
The sword appears in my hands, but the Orc keeps coming without fear, holding a sword.
I don't know how powerful you are, but I don't care. You dared to kidnap my grandma, and that's something I'll never forgive.
Anyone who dares to make my grandma suffer will never have my mercy.
"Die!"
No, you die.
The Orc tries to hit me with his sword, but I easily dodge it thanks to the Muslar asio spell, which lets me see attacks in slow motion.
Is that really all? Yeah, I'm definitely ultra mega powerful. Ugh, the final boss will be way stronger than me… Hell awaits me in the future.
"No one hurts my grandma!" I say, gripping my sword tighter.
I gain momentum and charge at him, slicing the Orc in half with my sword.
… That was easy… My sword cut through him like butter… Ugh, the problem isn't my companions; the problem is me, being too powerful. It's unfair, but necessary.
Girls, sorry for thinking you're useless. It's not your fault I'm a freak blessed by a God.
Ugh… I'm being too rude. I need to calm down.
"A demon!!" the three remaining Orcs scream, terrified.
Hey, don't call me something so mean. Think about my feelings; that hurt.
The three Orcs drop my companions and try to escape. Luckily, I catch my grandma in my arms, preventing her from hitting the ground. Sorry, girls, but my grandma's my priority.
"Ouch! That hurt!" Alex says, face-planting on the ground.
"My pride hurts more," Sara says, also face-planting.
"You okay, grandma?"
"Don't worry about me; I knew you'd come save us, so I wasn't scared."
Thanks for the trust, grandma.
I look at the Orcs trying to escape and set my grandma down on the ground.
Unfortunately for you, I won't have mercy. You tried to assault my grandma, and I'll never forgive that.
You'll die for all the crimes you've committed.
"Vels!"
I run toward them, catching up in less than a second thanks to the speed-boosting spell, and slice all three in half with quick, merciless sword strikes.
God told me not to have mercy, and I'll obey.
Besides, you've probably raped many women; you don't deserve any mercy.
Their severed bodies fall to the ground as my sword disappears.
"Well done."
Huh? A man's voice?
I look around… I don't see anyone else… Did I imagine it?
"Amazing, you're so powerful, master!" Rem says, her eyes sparkling.
I-I appreciate the words, but don't call me master!
"I'm not your master!"
Ugh, whatever.
I look at the Orcs' lifeless bodies… I killed them without hesitation… I killed them… Am I changing? No… I'm doing the right thing; what I did was right, but… Did I really kill them without hesitating? I don't know what to think about this.
I untie my grandma and companions, who are in their underwear.
Completely ignoring my grandma for the sake of my mental health, Sara and Alex are in their underwear! Arghhh! My heart's racing too fast! I'm not used to this!
"T-this is awkward," I say, blushing.
I cover my eyes with my right hand, only peeking a little through my fingers to see just their faces.
"You don't want to look at us? Don't you like women?" Sara says.
"I do like women, but I don't want to see my grandma in her underwear!"
What kind of sicko would want to see their grandma in her underwear?! I'm not a psychotic freak!
Besides, just because I like women doesn't mean I'll take advantage of the situation to ogle them in their underwear. That's sexual harassment! And I don't want to make them uncomfortable.
I calm down and sigh… Come on, Daniel… Ugh… It's over. You saved your grandma; everything's fine now.
"I'm too strong, or you're too weak. Were you really caught that easily? They looked unharmed. You couldn't even hurt them?"
"They don't seem like it, but they're very strong. They caught us by surprise and tied our feet and hands; we didn't have time to react," Alex says.
Ugh, they let their guard down. That makes sense… Wow.
Sara looks at Rem curiously, as Rem's staring at her.
"Who's she?"
"She's a ghost I revived. She'll live with us for a while until she finds a place to stay. I want her to get used to being alive again, and then I'll help her find a job. I hope you get along with her."
I don't plan to keep her around for long. I said it before, but I only want useful and strong companions; I don't want to endanger people who can't protect themselves.
"A ghost?!" the three say, shocked, staring at Rem with excitement and disbelief.
"I was surprised too, but for some reason, I can see ghosts."
"You can see ghosts, Dani?!"
"Yeah, grandma. Arghhh! Can I still consider myself human?!"
T-those Orcs called me a demon. What if people start fearing me?! I don't want them to fear me!
"You're amazing, master!"
Rem hugs me tightly, p-putting my head against her breasts. Arghhh! It's so awkward!
"You're the coolest person I've ever met, master!"
"I'm not your master!"
"Master?!" the three say, confused.
Arghhh! I don't want my grandma to think badly of me! I'd never force a girl to call me master!
"I-it's not what it looks like, grandma. She proclaimed herself my slave and won't stop calling me master. It's not my fault! B-by the way, are you done bathing? I think I need a good rest. Today was an emotional day."
"We were just starting when they caught us," my grandma says.
I guess she wants to finish bathing. But this time, I won't let my guard down.
"Alright, Rem will keep an eye on you for me. Let's go."
I place my left hand on Rem's right shoulder since I can't see well.
"Can you guide me? I don't want to see my grandma in her underwear."
"Of course, master!"
Ugh… I want companions who can protect themselves… My grandma's new to this, so she's excused, but Sara and Alex are experienced adventurers.
… Sandro's strong, and I defeated him…
God, the adventurers in this world are useless, aren't they?
If the Black Demon was as powerful as Sandro, and that demon was one of the weakest, it means the stronger demons can destroy cities in minutes… I need to be ready for anything.
•
•
After walking a few minutes, we reach the river. I hope there aren't more Orcs; I don't want my grandma's first day in this world to be ruined further.
"There's our stuff," Sara says.
"Finish bathing. I'll wait here."
I sit under a tree.
"Rem, sit with me to keep an eye on them."
"Of course, master!"
"Don't call me master; call me Dani or Daniel."
I'd rather be called Dani than master.
"Alright, Dani!"
Rem sits next to me, and I pull out my phone to keep studying the place.
"That thing you have is really weird," Rem says, looking at my phone.
"It's called a phone; it stores spells, takes photos, videos, and works as a map."
"It does all that? Amazing! Though I don't know what photos and videos are. The world's changed a lot since I died."
I'd explain, but maybe later. For now, I just want to keep studying this country.
"Keep watch; I don't want to have to save them again."
I won't always be lucky enough for my enemies to underestimate me. The more famous I get, the harder it'll be to defeat my enemies.
"Trust me!"
… Hmm… Orcs… Fantasy creatures… Magic… Adventurers… Chicken men… Right, where are the demi-humans and Elves? It's all humans… And I haven't seen dwarves either… Weird… I was expecting to meet beautiful Elves and cute catgirls.
Well, the world's huge, and if there are chicken men, there must be catgirls or something similar.
Back to studying.
•
•
"They're done!"
Finally, they're out. My turn.
About 10 minutes pass, and Rem shakes my right arm.
"Dani, they're out of the water!"
"Alright, thanks."
After they change clothes, I join them.
"Alright, your turn, Dani," my grandma says.
"Yeah, I know."
I take off my vest and shirt.
…
…
…
W-why are they staring at me?
…
…
…
Ugh… Those looks are uncomfortable!
"Wait… I'm not bathing in front of you!"
"We won't spy on you, I promise," Alex says.
"Rem, keep watch; make sure they don't look!"
"I'll do my best, Dani!" Rem says.
I move as far away from them as possible. I didn't sexually harass them; they should do the same!
"This should be fine."
Yeah, far from everyone, but not so far that I can't see them. The perfect spot.
I take off all my clothes and get in the water. Ugh, it's cold, but I'll get used to it.
"It's freezing…"
I clean my body with my hands. I don't have soap, but it's fine; I'll get some later.
Ugh, so relaxing; it's been days since I bathed… And I haven't used the bathroom lately either because my stomach's been empty.
"Now that I think about it, I haven't gone to the bathroom in two days… Shit, I bet the bathrooms are just holes in the ground."
Ugh, this world may have magic, but it's so underdeveloped. I definitely prefer technology over magic.
•
•
(POV - ?)
Daniel… Why does that boy remind me so much of Kei Molfer? I don't know… I need to keep investigating.
"Oh, Daniel. You're so similar, yet so different from that boy… Kei rejected me, but I'm sure you'll accept me… You're much better than that idiot."
It'll take some time, but you'll fall for me. I, Desmolfer, will be your future wife.
"Uwaaah! Gross, a fish!" he says, startled.
So innocent. How cute.
Watching him bathe feels… weird… Ugh… I want to masturbate… But I promised myself I'd be a good girl… He likes good girls… He won't fall for me if I'm a stalker.
I look a bit more, and the magic mirror disappears.
Alright… Yeah, remembering that still turns me on. I'm going to masturbate.
•
•
(POV - Daniel)
I felt a chill… Why do I feel like I'm being watched?
Ugh…
"Whatever."
From this distance, they can't see me well, so I'm safe.
After a few minutes, I get out of the water and dry off with the towel. Ugh, this was exactly what I needed, a good bath, though I'd have preferred hot water over freezing water.
I'm not complaining; I'm used to cold showers since we didn't have hot water at home in my original world, but this water was way too cold! I-I hope my grandma doesn't get sick.
"Done."
I put on the clothes I took off.
"I'll change into new clothes when we get home."
Luckily, I bought plenty of clothes.
I head to the girls.
I reach them, and Rem immediately approaches me with a big smile.
"Any problems?"
"This girl tried to look, but don't worry, I tied her up!"
Alex is on the ground, tied with a rope… Where'd she get the rope? Well, doesn't matter.
"I only looked a little!"
I'm used to sexual harassment, so it doesn't bother me too much.
I untie her… I don't mind that she looked; I'm used to harassment.
"Alright, let's go. Muslar asio!"
Alex climbs onto my back, and I pick up my grandma in my arms.
I'd summon the unicorn, but we've bothered him enough today; he'll get mad. He's probably resting right now.
"I don't want to bother the unicorn again; I'll come back for you."
I've called him several times today. He'll get mad at me.
"Alright, Dani!" Rem says.
I fly off. It's risky leaving them alone, but I won't take long.
It took me one minute to get to the village and back.
I return to Sara and Rem and land in front of them.
"Alright, get on."
"I want to go in Dani's arms!" Rem says.
"Fine, I'll go on his back," Sara says.
I pick up Rem in my arms, and Sara climbs onto my back. Sara's not flat; she has large breasts, and feeling them on my back makes me super nervous and embarrassed.
"R-ready?"
"Yes!" Rem says.
"I'm… ready," Sara says, scared, as I feel her body trembling.
Don't worry, Sara; I'm used to this flight spell now.
"Arches Nexus!"
I fly off and don't take long to reach our destination.
I arrive at the village, set Rem down, and Sara gets off my back, trembling.
"I really can't get used to flying," Sara says, nauseous.
Did she really get motion sickness? I think I'm used to flying; it doesn't feel weird to me.
"That was awesome!" Rem says.
… Oh…
Rem stares at the people and houses around us.
I guess her ghost self never imagined she'd be alive again. She's probably in shock right now or something. She's fully realized she's actually alive again.
"For years, I was condemned to wander the river; I couldn't leave, it was so boring… Now that I'm alive again, I can do whatever I want, go wherever I want… I can do anything…"
Her eyes fill with tears, and she hugs me tightly.
"Thank you so much, Dani!"
She probably has a sad past. Considering her age and the river's location, she drowned… Or was murdered.
… Maybe she was raped and then killed… I don't want to ask her anything right now; I should wait.
With time, she'll forget her past and enjoy her new life.
… But that new life will be away from me. When the time's right, I'll give her money to buy a house and find her a job.
But I'll wait a few months; I need to figure out if reviving a ghost has any negative effects on her body. Maybe she needs my magic power to stay alive or something.
"Don't worry, it's okay."
I pat her head and smile.
"Enjoy your new life."
Rem looks into my eyes and blushes. I messed up. Arghhh! Why do I keep smiling?!
"Cute…"
My face turns red from embarrassment, and I look away.
"T-thanks."
I-I need to stop smiling at women.
We enter the house, and I show it to Rem since she'll live here for months.
"We just bought it, so it's empty; when we get money, we'll buy furniture."
… Ugh, no wonder my arm feels heavy. Rem's still hugging me. Arghhh! Why did I smile?!
"As long as I'm with Dani, I wouldn't mind sleeping on the floor!"
She's fallen for me… I saved her life… Ugh… Cliché. I'll make it clear I want to be alone… And if she wants to date me, I'll reject her immediately, even if it breaks her heart.
"Dani."
"Yes, grandma?"
My grandma approaches me.
"Dani, where can we… do our business?"
Ugh, one of the most basic human needs.
"I don't know."
I lean toward her and whisper.
"I've been holding it for a while."
My grandma turns to Sara.
"Miss, where can we… do our business?"
"The bathroom area is in the center of the village."
"A-area?" I say, confused.
"H-how are the bathrooms here?" my grandma says, confused and nervous.
"Well… They're like small huts where you can go and do your business."
Like the bathrooms at construction sites.
I sigh… We're in such a backward world… I was hoping for a slightly more modern world.
I lower my gaze… I don't want to use a bathroom like that, and I don't want my grandma to do her business in such unhygienic and uncomfortable bathrooms.
I think for a moment and come up with a great idea in seconds.
"I know what I'll do!"
I pull out my phone and open the spell app.
"There has to be a spell to make trash disappear or something."
I check the earth spells… Hmm… Oh, here's one.
"Retiers: Used to remove large amounts of earth and rocks. Can be used for rescues. Just focus on how you want to move the earth and say the spell."
Pretty simple to do.
I keep looking until I find a really interesting one.
"Tier: Allows you to transform objects into earth… Perfect."
"What are you planning?" my grandma says.
"I'm not doing my business outside. We're not savages."
I head to a corner of the house and extend my right hand.
"Retiers!"
A large amount of rocks and earth comes out, and I can control it with my mind. Perfect.
"Excuse me, I'll take it out."
I leave the house with the earth and dump it outside the village.
"Alright."
I return to the house.
"You're making a bathroom? A bathroom in a house? That's weird," Sara says.
… D-did I hear that right? "That's weird," you said?!
We're really in another world! This world is gross.
A square hole is in the corner of the house. Perfect.
"Good."
I keep checking the spells… Hmm… Oh, here's an even better one.
"Crea: Used to transform things into something else. Just imagine what you want to transform the object into and say the spell. Doesn't work for making gold or other expensive objects… Damn."
Now I need to get the earth back since I need it as a base material.
I leave the house and return with the earth.
Alright, let's hope this works. I'll think of… wooden planks!
"Crea!"
I transform the earth into wooden planks. It worked! Thank you, God!
"It's gonna be a long night."
I'm not an expert, but I know a bit about carpentry. I worked for a carpenter for a while, but I got fired because his wife kissed me. I didn't kiss her; she stole a kiss from me…! And his middle-school daughter stole a kiss too… Ugh, I don't blame him; he was furious.
•
•
I spent the whole night building a bathroom. The girls went to sleep at Sara's. Rem was the only one who stayed to help me. I had to leave the village for some things I needed. Several adventurers knocked on my door to complain about the noise, but they apologized when they saw it was me.
In short, it was a long night of work.
And I finished what I was doing at 5:23 in the morning.
"We're done!"
"Amazing, Dani! I've never seen anything like this!"
"It's called a bathroom; it'll be more comfortable to have one here."
We built wooden walls around the bathroom. I turned the stone floor into a wooden one. We made a bathtub; I'll figure out how to bring water for bathing later. I made a toilet, but without a bottom, so our waste falls to the ground. I'll clean it at the end of the day by transforming the waste into earth. It's a nice, basic bathroom. Simple, but nice.
It'll be gross to clean at the end of the day, but it's way better than going to that disgusting bathroom area.
"I still have a lot to do, but I'm exhausted."
I'll finish it later.
I extend my right hand, pointing at a pile of earth.
"Crea!"
I transform a large amount of earth into a mattress. Ugh, it looks so comfy. I'll sleep like a baby.
"This spell really doesn't respect the laws of alchemy… I think that's what they're called… Whatever."
Hmm… I see I'm out of earth. I wanted to make a mattress for Rem, but I ran out.
"I'll go get more…"
I yawn… I'm dying of sleep.
"… earth to make your bed."
"Don't worry, it's a big mattress; we can both sleep on it!"
"I shouldn't, but…"
I yawn.
"… I'm really exhausted."
I'd normally refuse, but I'm so sleepy. Sharing a bed can't be that bad. I don't think she'll assault me while I sleep; I brought her back to life. I highly doubt she's ungrateful.
I take off my vest and shirt since that's how I usually sleep.
"Good night."
I lie on the mattress and fall asleep immediately.
