Chapter 12 - SS1 EP 12 fight with the monster

It has begun.

The horde of monsters surged towards the students.

They were relentless.

Garret's golden eyes reflected the green light of the spiders as they crawled closer.

"Check!"

A message box appeared beside him, displaying information:

Type: Monster

Species: Spider

Planet Affiliation:

Greensvelle

HP: 10

ATK: 5

DEF: 2

Authority Rank: Authority Novice>

"Come on then!"

Garret challenged them, a thought flashing through his head:

In Authority Caster class, I secretly read ahead a lot.

It has to work, even if Cubie isn't here!

Soon, the spiders were within close range.

Area Scope!

Garret finished casting ,the spiders became trapped in a designated area.

No chance to escape.

From Techno class, they taught us how to use handguns and had everyone build one.

"Perfect! Now's the time to use it!"

In a swift motion.

Garret pulled a handgun from his jacket pocket.

FIRE!

The Rapid gunfire reverberated, and the spiders recoiled.

Unconscious on the ground.

Seeing this, Garret took out a cloth and spread it over them.

"Stay here. Don't go anywhere."

Finished speaking, Garret's sharp eyes turned towards Leon.

His close friend.

Leon, now running away from the spiders chasing after him.

'Don't get me!!'

he yelled out, running with all his might.

But it seemed to only amuse the spiders even more.

They crawled over and bit Leon's leg.

'Owww, that hurts!'

Leon exclaimed.

Even worse, Leon ran into a slime that was inching towards Asami.

Now they were in trouble.

Leon and Asami had to face enemies from two sides.

Slimes and spiders surrounded them.

Leon's breath grew heavier as he gripped his lance.

That lance, Garret crafted for him in Techno class.

Its features included a 10 cm long handle, and a neon yellow head.

It had two sharp points, with a glowing channel in the center between the two.

The left and right corners, had three blonde stripes.

Too slow.

The slime used its slippery goo, stick to Leon's hand."

"'Hey! Get off my hand!'"

Leon tried to shake his hand repeatedly.

But it was useless, even more stuck.

The spiders, seeing Leon's helpless state, lunged to attack.

The bite sank deep.

The scream escaped Leon's lips.

"'Aaaaargh! It hurrrrrts!'"

Same with Asami, the slimes and spiders also attacked her.

Ew, slimes! You're disgusting!

The voice in her head, a stark contrast to her seemingly calm expression."

As the monsters approached, she recoiled back, dodging the attack.

Inevitable, the slime crept and snagged her.

The slimy goo stuck to her hand, but she could still turn her gaze.

And then, to her left, a strange event unfolded.

The wind near Leon, intensified. His blue eyes gleamed, gazing at the swarm of monsters clinging to him.

His grip on the lance tightening.

Then, Thrust!

He swung the lance at the monsters in the blink of an eye.

The monsters all collapsed onto the ground.

Seeing his friend defend himself, Garret let out a proud smiled.

But it's not over yet.

Professor Murphy's announcement echoed.

"Alright everyone, the Level 1 monster battle is now over. Now is Level 2 monsters!"

Hearing this, all the students gaped.

"Oh, for our benefit! Asami, I think we should stick close to Garret,"

Leon suggested.

After she nodded, Leon and Asami walked over to stand near Garret.

They were Looking drenched in sweat.

After a short breath, the new wave of monsters moved in.

A horde of goblins, baring their fangs and glaring with hungry eyes, advanced.

Similarly, a group of orcs marched ahead of the goblins. Their tall figures moved with grim expressions.

Seeing this, Asami used her system's scan function.

<'Yes, Miss Asami.

Faction: Nine Monarchs

Type: Monster

Species: Orcs

Planet Affiliation: Greensvelle

HP: 200

ATK: 3

DEF: 10

Authority Rank: Authority Novice

They are so disgusting.>

Seeing Asami do it, Leon followed suit.

<'Oh wow, you're going to fight your own kind without telling me?

Faction: Nine Monarchs

Type: Monster

Species: Goblin, just like you

Planet Affiliation: Greensvelle

HP: 100 but you can't even kill them

ATK: 10 but they hit you once, you're dead

DEF: 5 you can't even penetrate this defense

They're as dumb as you were when you were a kid, you white goblin!>

"Hey! I may have goblin ancestry, but I'm civilized, okay?"

Leon grumbled.

"No time for this, Leon, Asami. Let's take these guys down!"

Garret yelled out, his voice firm.

"You got it, Garret! Whatever you say, bro!"

Leon agreed, while Asami gave a small nod.

Before long, the orcs and goblins began their assault.

Several students were attacked until their HP depleted.

They didn't die but were transported to a safe area.

Meanwhile, the orcs closed in on the three of them.

Leon's face went pale, and his hands trembled uncontrollably. Asami tried to maintain a calm expression, resist the silent screams in her mind.

Seeing the orcish horde approaching, Garret drew his Try-angle.

But this time, it seemed to possess a unique quality unlike before.

The giant orc approached and swung its spiked club at the three of them.

Seeing this, Garret cast his Authority.

ENERGY SHIELD!

The orc's club struck, but it was stopped by the blue dome.

Seeing this, Asami drew a vibrant red ribbon sword and slashed at the orcs.

Even though, she didn't knowing how to cast Authority.

Slash!

The orcs were struck, receiving small wounds.

But they continued to fight.

They turned their attention to deal with Leon. A massive figure appeared before him.

"Whoa!"

Startled, Leon thrust his spear forward.

Due to the force of the swing, the orcs fell in a pile on the ground.

"Should we send them to die?" Asami asked with a flat voice.

"Doesn't seem like a good idea,"

Garret said, walking closer to the pile of orc bodies on the ground.

He had to hurry because the goblin horde, though smaller, still had their eyes on him.

After a moment of inspection, he noticed a chip embedded in the back of one of the orcs.

He picked it up and turned to his two friends.

"Looks like this orc was just a simulation program," he announced.

Hearing this, Leon gasped, while Asami smoothed her dark brunette hair.

"So that means..."

Leon started to say, but Professor Murphy's voice cut in.

'"That's right. These monsters were programmed to be part of your training exercise,"'

Professor Murphy said, appearing as he snapped his fingers.

Amazingly, the entire room transformed back into an empty space.

Leaving only the three students and Professor Murphy.

"Then why didn't you tell us from the beginning...?"

Asami asked, before Leon chimed in.

"Yeah! I was scared to death!"

Garret's two friends were agitated, but he simply smiled.

"Because I wanted to truly draw out your potential,"

Professor Murphy said, taking a sip of water before continuing.

"In the real world, no one will warn you about what lies ahead. You need to be prepared at all times."

Leon let out a deep sigh before Murphy spoke again.

"By the way, Garret, how did you figure things out?"

"Oh, that's because my older sister, Lylia, told me about the training rooms in the academy. She said everything is programmed,"

Garret replied with a small smile.

"Ah, I see," Professor Murphy nodded before adding,

"Alright, you can all go home now. This class is over."

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone bowed in thanks and quickly dispersed to go home.

Meanwhile, Murphy remained seated.

Deep in thought.

Garret Spencer, you must pass the Cosmic Ranger cadet selection exam. I believe in you.
