Chapter 4 - The End Is Near

"Dad, Mom… A great flood is coming!"

"_"

Help…

Park Fairbang wanted to kill this boy even more. Sadly, he was out of breath.

15 minutes later, they still had a hard time processing whatever it was Gort Fairbang was spewing.

Heh-heh… Heh-heh-heh… BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA~

Park Fairbang laughed and smacked his large hand on his face with an expression that looked worse than crying.

Alright.

He knew this day would come.

He knew there would be a day when his son completely lost it!

Hee-ho-hoho-heeh~

Park Fairbang laughed and almost looked like he was the one growing insane.

Shaking his head bitterly, he looked at his son pitifully.

As expected, geniuses must be monitored and observed so they don't reach a day when their brain cells overpower them, turning them stupid.

Clare Rei was also worried, reaching out to her son and gently soothing his forehead, as if that would make his brain recover from its silliness.

"Son, don't worry. But matter what happens to you, we will always be there for you…. Even if your brain has finally defeated you."

"_" [Gort Fairbang]

This time, it was Gort Fairbang's turn to be dumbfounded.

He felt warmth, but didn't know whether to laugh or cry at their conclusions.

And just when he was open to speak, a strange electronic voice echoed in his head.

[Congratulations Host, for being the only one in your world to figure out the truth!] The strange robotic voice explained.

Host? Him?

Gort was confused.

Since when did he accept to be its Host? It seemed the strange entity didn't care about consent.

[In 6 months, 1 day, 14 hours… your world will plummet into the deep depths of the seas.]

[It will take 2,973 years for the waters to completely reside, returning the world back to its original state.

[That being said, this system has automatically bonded with the host, so no need for the host to say thank you.]

'_'

Gort was momentarily speechless.

What a narcissistic system.

'6 months, huh?' Gort Fairbang didn't doubt the system. 'It seems I still miscalculated. I originally thought we had 8 months to prepare.'

Gort Fairbang frowned the more he thought of things.

No doubt the system's information changes the entire plan he previously laid out.

Although Geldhan village wasn't a coastal village, it was still 3 hours away from the sea via vehicle.

So understand that being someone who lives close to the sea, Gort Fairbang had always hopped on fishing boats and swam into the waters to observe the surroundings.

He didn't know why, but from young till now he has always been curious about everything around him.

He would experiment, build, and even create simple tools to distribute around the village.

He had an eye for technology, and could find the pattern in physics, biology and mathematical numbers, making him see solutions faster than most people.

Perhaps this was why they called him a genius.

He has never found learning tasking. It came as natural to him as breathing.

4 years ago when doing an experiment out on a fishing boat, he swam deep under the seas with goggles and soon discovered various changes that were slight and very hard to notice.

Every month, he would go down, see those changes, do his measurements, record and deduce.

This continued for a while during the times he was on holidays. And every step of the way, his sworn brothers and sisters were always there with him doing the heavy lifting.

He also spent his time doing rigorous calculations too while on school premises.

It was only 3 weeks ago that he had an emergency meeting with them, breaking the bitter truth of his findings.

No matter how many times he calculated, the results were always the same.

—A Great Flood was coming!

Don't think that because he was young, he couldn't build his own seismic measuring devices and other technologies to accurately take measurements both on land and under the seas.

During these 4 years, he has been working tirelessly to seek the truth. It was only until 4 weeks ago, that he finalized everything and was shocked by the conclusion that stared him right in the face.

A great flood was coming, one they would also leave the waters poisonous for many years to come.

The dying plant lives under the water is proof of this hypothesis.

It's just that he didn't didn't know exactly why the flood coming was a poisonous one.

He originally thought humanity had 8 months to go… but the system's information stated it was just 6!

Well… 6 months, 4 days, 11 hours, 54 minutes, and 7 seconds.

Sure enough, the FLOOD was coming. But why? This was something he could never truly understand.

[Host, the reason is quite simple.] The system continued. [If you humans are able to withstand the molten temperatures of the inner crust, then you might be able to find your answer.]

Gort's eyes narrowed thoughtfully. 'So it has to do with the unstableness of the planet's crust?'

[More or less, Host… But may I ask… what is the greatest catastrophe to hit the planet, Host?]

The greatest catastrophe? Gort Fairbang's eyes twinkled with an unprecedented light.

'You mean the Chicxulub Impactor?'

[Bingo, Host! The Chicxulub asteroid that came 67 million years ago and wiped out 3/4th of the world population, including the dinosaurs… is the main culprit responsible for this matter]

During that time of the asteroid-meteor shower, fine silicate dust fell across the world for 15 long years.

The silicate dust looked and felt like Snow, allowing temperatures all around the world to fall dramatically.

'Could it be that the incident since then has something to do with the flood?'

[Correct, Host. For millions of years, your world has been slowly cracking and breaking down from deep within to prepare for this day.]

Gort frowned. 'This can't be right. Scientifically, they should have been healing, instead of breaking apart.'

[Indeed Host, the world's many crusts and layers should have been healing bit by bit since then. However—]

The system's mechanized voice paused: [What you frail humans fail to understand, was that the enormous meteor that crashed into the world, wasn't all 'rock'.]

Really?

Gort Fairbang's eyes narrowed in deep thought.

According to the system, the fierce force surrounding the meteorite during its fall created a super powerful force field around it that protected the true contents it carried.

Gort smiled wryly. Why did it feel like the rock was carrying some superhuman from the planet Krypton? Or could it be the birth of a Saiyan?

Gort almost trolled his eyes heavenwards.

All in all, the force field surrounding the falling rock protected its true contents.

And when the meteorite hit the world, a series of chemical reactions sent the strange alien contents deeper and deeper into their world of Blue Star.

Think of the world as a massive pot that has kept the alien substance in it, stirring and stirring for millions of years, cooking for so long it was now ready to burst out.

In addition to this, the substance that was enclosed in that meteorite was quite poisonous.

It has been building an immense level of gas and toxicity all this time, but didn't break out because as one would have it, Mother Nature had long sensed the turmoil and tried hardest to contain and keep everything in.

It's been 67 million years since then, and mother nature sure did try her best.

Sadly, it will all come to an end in a few months.

The grounds will erupt and break apart and the waters will rise far higher than one can imagine.

HENCE THE COMING OF THE FLOOD.
