Chapter 1 - Chapter One: The Awakening

Zoey had been left at her foster parents' doorstep as a baby, wrapped in a soft blanket and clutching a mysterious pendant three symbols entwined: a wolf, a vampire fang, and a witch's rune. It was the only clue to her past. Her foster parents, kind and loving, named her Zoey and raised her as their own.

Now sixteen, Zoey had made a name for herself. She was captain of the basketball team and had three close friends—Alina, the quiet and brilliant one; Jada, the bold cheer captain; and Mya, the sweet and spirited track star. Despite their differences, they were inseparable.

One day at school, Alina rushed down the hallway. "Zoey, wait up!" she called.

Zoey turned, backpack slung over her shoulder. "You're the first person I've seen all day," she said. "What's up?"

"Have you seen Jada?"

"Nope."

"Oh. Okay. You busy this afternoon?"

"Yeah, I've got some family thing tonight," Zoey replied. "Why?"

Alina hesitated. "No reason."

"Alright. Gotta go. Love you."

"Love you too."

Zoey walked home, letting the afternoon sun warm her face. "Mom, Dad, I'm home!" she called as she entered the house.

"In here, honey!" her mother replied from the living room.

"How was school?" her mom asked.

"It was okay."

"Anything happen?" her dad asked.

"Same old," Zoey shrugged. "Where's Alex?"

"In his room," her dad answered.

Zoey went upstairs and knocked on her foster brother's door. "Can I come in?"

"Yeah," Alex said.

"You okay? Those kids still messing with you?"

"No," he muttered.

"Alex, I know when you're lying," she said gently. "Just remember, bullies always get caught. And you're the best little brother ever."

She kissed his forehead. He smiled. "Thanks, sis."

"Now go do your homework and get ready for bed."

Zoey retreated to her room, flopped onto her desk chair, and started on her homework. Somewhere between equations and grammar drills, she drifted off.

Her sleep turned restless. Her body twitched. Her eyes glowed.

Then—screams.

"Zoey, wake up!" her parents shouted. Alex's frightened voice echoed in the chaos.

But it was too late.

Unknowingly, Zoey lashed out. Her claws slashed across Alex's arm, drawing blood. Her senses overloaded, instincts took control. She turned feral—bloodthirsty. She attacked without mercy, draining the life from her parents and brother.

When the haze cleared, she stood over their lifeless bodies, her hands trembling.

"No... no..." she whispered. "What have I done?"

Shaking, she reached for her phone and called her best friends.

Alina, Mya, and Jada arrived at the house, shaken but not surprised by what they saw.

"I lost control," Zoey sobbed. "I don't know what happened!"

Mya wrapped her in a hug. "It's okay."

"What am I? What the hell is going on?"

Alina stepped forward. "We know what you are."

Zoey stared at her. "What?"

"I'm a witch," Alina said.

"I'm a werewolf," said Jada.

"And I'm a vampire," Mya added. "You're all three. A hybrid. And... we know your biological parents. They sent us to protect you."

Zoey's mouth dropped. "So our friendship was fake?"

"No," Alina said firmly. "We had no choice. Bad people are after you. Your birth parents asked our families to keep you safe. Yes, we were sent to find you—but we grew up with you. You're our best friend."

"We need to get you to my parents' house," Alina added. "It's time you knew everything."

Zoey nodded, still dazed. "Okay."

Mya and Jada made calls to their families to help clean up the scene. Alina helped Zoey pack.

"Can I bring my motorcycle?" Zoey asked. "It's all I have left of them."

"Of course."

Once loaded, they hit the road. They stopped by each girl's house for their things, then headed north—far from California—to a place Zoey had never heard of: Whispering Hollows.

They arrived late at night. Waiting outside a large, secluded estate stood a man with blond hair and blue eyes and a woman with long black hair and green eyes.

"Zoey?" the woman asked, running to her. "Oh my god… it's really you."

"I'm Sarah, your mother," she said tearfully. "And I'm Sebastian, your father."

Zoey hesitated, but the warmth in their eyes broke through her fear. She hugged them both tightly. Despite everything, it felt like home.

Then a small girl with green eyes and blonde hair ran up and hugged Zoey.

"Are you my sister?" the girl asked.

Zoey looked at her. "Yeah... I guess I am."

Inside the house, there were dozens of rooms and unfamiliar faces. But one boy caught her eye—red hair, striking blue eyes.

"He's hot, right?" Alina teased.

"Shut up," Zoey whispered, blushing.

The boy approached. "This is your room," he said.

"Couldn't tell," Zoey said, smiling.

"I'm Jace. I help around here. Your parents never let anyone in this room until now."

"Really?" she asked.

He nodded. "If you ever need a friend besides the girls, I'm here."

"Thanks," Zoey said. Their eyes locked. Slowly, they leaned in and kissed.

"I'm sorry," she said, pulling back. "That was dumb I just met you ."

"No," he said. "I hope it happens again."

Zoey smiled "maybe it will ",Zoey whispered

"You should get some rest," Jace said. "There's school in the morning."

"School? Already?"

"Welcome to Whispering Hollows.

Bloodline Awakening

Chapter One: The Awakening

Zoey had been just a baby when she was left on her foster parents' doorstep. Her biological parents had left behind only a pendant—engraved with a wolf, a vampire fang, and a witch's sigil. They hoped, one day, it would guide her back to them.

Years passed, and Zoey grew into a confident sixteen-year-old. She captained her high school basketball team and had three close friends—Alina, the brilliant nerd; Jada, the fierce cheer captain; and Mya, the sweet and popular track star. Each had their own struggles, but together, they were unbreakable.

"Zoey, wait up!" Alina called out, chasing her down the hallway.

Zoey turned, her black hair with red highlights swaying as she walked. "You're the first person I've seen today. What's up?"

"Have you seen Jada?"

"Nope. You're the first."

"That's weird…" Alina hesitated. "Are you busy this afternoon?"

"Yeah, I've got a family thing tonight. Why?"

"Oh, nothing," Alina said quickly. "Okay, well, I gotta go. Love you!"

"Love you too," Zoey replied, waving as she headed home.

"Mom, Dad, I'm home!" Zoey called.

"Hey, honey, we're in here," her mom responded warmly.

"How was school?" her dad asked.

"It was okay—same as always."

"Anything happen?"

"Nope. Just the usual."

Zoey checked in on her younger foster brother, Alex, knocking gently on his door. "Can I come in?"

"Yeah," came his quiet reply.

She stepped in, noticing his nervous posture. "Are those kids still bothering you?"

He shook his head. "No."

"You're lying, but that's okay. Just remember—bullies always get what's coming to them. You're the best little brother." She kissed his forehead, earning a small smile.

"Thanks, sis."

"Now do your homework and get ready for bed, okay?"

That night, Zoey collapsed onto her bed, exhausted. Her dreams twisted into nightmares. She thrashed in her sleep, eyes glowing an unnatural hue. Her body trembled. Then… chaos.

Her parents rushed in. Her little brother stood in the doorway, eyes wide with fear.

"Zoey, wake up!" they shouted.

But it was too late.

She lunged—scratching Alex across the arm before turning on her parents. Her scream became a snarl as something ancient and terrifying took over. Blood. Fangs. Claws.

When Zoey came to, the house was soaked in crimson. Her family… gone. She stumbled back in horror, hands trembling.

"No… no… what have I done?" she whispered.

Shaking, she called her friends. Within minutes, Alina, Mya, and Jada burst through the door. They looked terrified—but not surprised.

"I lost control," Zoey sobbed. "I didn't mean to—what am I? What the hell is happening to me?!"

Alina stepped forward. "Zoey… we know. We've always known. I'm a witch."

"I'm a werewolf," Jada added.

"I'm a vampire," said Mya softly. "And you're all three. You're a hybrid."

Zoey's breath caught. "So… our friendship… it was fake?"

"No!" Alina insisted. "Yes, we were sent to protect you, but it's real. You're our best friend."

"There are dangerous people out there," Mya explained. "Your biological parents asked our families to keep you safe."

Zoey took a long breath. "Okay… what now?"

"We need to get you to safety," Alina said. "My parents can help. But we have to leave—tonight."

Zoey packed quickly, throwing clothes into bags, and loading them into Alina's truck.

"Wait. Can I bring my motorcycle? It's the only thing I have left of my foster family."

"Of course," Alina said gently, helping her secure it in the truck bed.

Mya and Jada called their parents. "They'll take care of… the scene," Mya said quietly. "They'll meet us at Whispering Hollows."

"Whispering Hollows?" Zoey asked. "That's not in California."

"No," Jada said. "That's where your real parents are."

The girls drove through the night, stopping at each other's houses to gather what they needed. Zoey sat in the backseat, quietly crying. Alina reached back to squeeze her hand.

"We need you to be strong," she said. "Now that your powers have awakened, others will come looking for you."

By the time they arrived at Whispering Hollows, the sun had begun to rise. A man with blond hair and blue eyes stood outside a massive estate. Beside him, a woman with long black hair and piercing green eyes gasped and ran forward.

"Zoey?" the woman breathed. "It's really you!"

Zoey froze.

"I'm Sarah," the woman said. "Your mother. And this is Sebastian—your father."

Zoey collapsed into her arms, sobbing. She didn't know them… but she needed them.

Then, a little girl ran toward her, eyes wide and bright green, her blond curls bouncing.

"Are you my sister?" she asked.

Zoey smiled tearfully. "Yeah… I guess I am."

Inside, the house buzzed with energy—supernaturals of every kind. But one person caught Zoey's eye: a handsome boy with red hair and crystal-blue eyes.

"He's hot, right?" Alina whispered.

"Shut up," Zoey murmured, smiling despite herself.

The boy approached. "This is your room," he said, nodding toward a door with her name on it.

"Oh really? I couldn't tell," Zoey joked.

"I'm Jace," he said, grinning. "I help out around here. Your parents never let anyone into that room until now."

Zoey wandered the room in awe. Jace sat beside her on the bed.

"If you ever need another friend… I'm here."

"Thanks. That means a lot."

Their eyes met—and before she could stop herself, she leaned in. They kissed. A long, soft kiss.

"I'm sorry," she said quickly, pulling away. "I just met you—"

"I don't mind," Jace said. "I hope it happens again."

"Maybe it will," Zoey whispered.

The next morning came far too soon.

"ZOOEEEYYYYY!" Jada, Mya, and Alina shouted. "Wake up! We've got school!"

"Nooo…" Zoey groaned, dragging herself out of bed.

Downstairs, she overheard her parents and friends talking.

"How is she?" Sarah asked.

"I tried to read her mind," Alina admitted. "But it was just nightmares."

"I don't think we should snoop in her mind," Jace said.

"I agree," Sebastian added. "She needs space."

Zoey stepped into the room. "If you want to know how I'm doing… just ask me."

Everyone turned, stunned.

"You're right," Sarah said. "We're sorry."

Mya pulled up to the front of the house. "We're here!"

Zoey hesitated. "Go on without me."

Jace stayed behind. "I'm not leaving you."

She looked up at him, her heart racing. "You really don't have to"

But Jace kissed her again. Deeply. Softly.

"We have to go," he said, breathless.

Together, they walked into school, hand in hand.

Zoey stepped into her first class. "Hi, I'm Mr. France," her teacher said. "You must be Zoey. Care to introduce yourself?"

"Sure," Zoey said, standing tall. "I'm Zoey. I'm from California. I play basketball. I'm sweet… so don't think I'm mean."

The class chuckled.

"You can sit right there," Mr. France said.

Zoey smiled. Her world had changed forever. But maybe… just maybe… she could still find her place in it.
