"Hah!" Felicia scoffed. "I didn't send Spider-Man to do my dirty work."
"I saw Ben Urich get shot by Jameson in his own home. After that, I grabbed my gun, went to Jameson's office, and shot him myself."
"I was pretty sure I didn't miss." She turned to look at Jameson. "So... why is he still alive?"
"That was a pathetic impostor!" Jameson shouted from inside the cage, struggling to his feet.
"Impostor?" Felicia blinked in shock.
"Yes," the Green Goblin's voice came from behind her. "Unfortunately, he was one of mine."
Kraven the Hunter, standing to the side, glared at Felicia, seething. "My idiot brother... killed by a woman!"
The Goblin grabbed Felicia by the hair. "It's a shame, darling. I actually valued our relationship. But Chameleon was one of us. I can't just let this slide—how would I explain it to the others?"
"Don't touch me!" Felicia shoved him away and slapped him hard across the face.
For a woman, she packed a hell of a punch—years of training paid off.
But the next moment, Kraven lunged and grabbed her by the hair, slamming her to the ground.
"You killed my brother! How do you want to die?"
The Goblin's skin cracked like dry earth as he covered the splitting flesh on his face, glaring down at Felicia. "You pissed me off. I wanted this to end quickly and cleanly, but you just had to keep pushing. You know what happens when I get angry."
"Kraven—bring her over here!"
Kraven yanked her up and dragged her to a large glass container. Inside, grotesque, venomous spiders crawled over each other in a writhing mass.
The Goblin slammed her face against the glass. "You like spiders, don't you? Avenging Urich's little spider?"
"Then open your eyes and watch closely. Once Vulture brings Parker here, I'll make sure he watches you fall into their embrace."
A voice rang out behind them.
"Vulture sends his regards."
THWIP! THWIP!
Shadow Spider-Man dropped from the ceiling, launching twin webs at two of the Goblin's henchmen, yanking them off their feet and pinning them to the wall.
Peter noticed this version of Spider-Man didn't use synthetic web-shooters—his webs came straight from his wrists.
That meant his webs responded to thought, not presets.
Interesting. Maybe when he got back, he could rework his web-shooters to function like that.
Below, the Goblin and Kraven recoiled in surprise. Kraven quickly drew his gun and fired.
ZING!
Peter's spider-sense flared. He twisted mid-air, dodging the bullet, landed in a crouch—and reached for his revolver.
But he hesitated.
This wasn't the version of Peter ruled by rage. The high school kid inside still had a say.
And he remembered Aunt May's words.
"Wow, Spider-Man showing mercy? Now that's new!" Kraven sneered.
"You idiot!" Jameson shouted from the cage. "Why aren't you shooting him?!"
The Goblin cackled. "What's the matter? Don't tell me you're another impostor!"
"Hmph." Peter suddenly shot a web, yanked Kraven toward him, and punched him hard in the face.
THUD!
Blood sprayed from Kraven's mouth. His teeth were practically gone, and his nose snapped sideways.
Peter didn't stop—two more punches crushed Kraven's shoulder blades.
With medicine being what it was in this world, even if they patched him up, he'd never regain full strength.
For a beastmaster like Kraven, that was worse than death.
Peter let go, dropping him to the ground like trash.
Kraven passed out from the pain.
CLANG CLANG CLANG!
Suddenly, the cage next to them opened—chains hit the floor.
The Goblin had used the chaos to open another cage—the one holding a massive albino tiger, nearly four meters long, lean and ravenous.
And the cage door?
It opened into Jameson's cell.
"Feeding time!" the Goblin sneered.
"AAAHHH!" Jameson screamed, scrambling backward. But his feet were chained, the space was cramped.
The starved beast locked eyes with him—and pounced.
At the last second, Peter fired twin webs—THWIP! THWIP!—snaring the tiger mid-air, one web around its front legs, the other around its hind.
With a mighty heave, he yanked the 400-kilo predator back—suspending it upside-down by the cage's edge.
He passed the webs to one hand and pulled out his revolver.
BANG! BANG!
Two bullets straight into its ear canal.
Even with a skull that thick, the rounds tore through brain tissue like a blender.
ROOAAARR—
The tiger let out a dying howl and went limp.
"Thanks," Jameson gasped, "but forget about me—go save your girlfriend!"
Peter gave him a look.
Felicia wasn't his girlfriend, but he didn't argue.
He turned just in time to see the Goblin pulling her toward a trapdoor. One hand gripped her arm, the other held a gun to her head.
"If you follow, I'll blow her brains out!" the Goblin barked before leaping into the underground passage, vanishing with her.
"WIDOW-WAHL-MRRRR-MIAH!"
Just as Peter was about to give chase, his spider-sense flared again—someone was lunging at him from behind.
