Chapter 7 - Chapter 6

Author's POV

Arjun was doing some work when the familiar buzz of his phone caught his attention.

He absentmindedly picked up his phone, but when he saw the screen, he froze.

The caller ID read:

My little cloud ☁️❤️

He stilled for a moment but then picked up the phone and asked, "Hello! Who is this?"

Megha replied from the other side, "It's me, Megha. I got your number from Shreya, and I want to talk to you."

"Yeah, I already know what you want to talk about. Knowing our grandfathers, we should have expected this—they think alike. So, I'm guessing your grandfather convinced you too," Arjun said, his tone laced with frustration.

Megha paused for a moment before replying, "Yeah, I guess you're right. And since we've both been reluctantly convinced, why don't we talk it out together?"

Arjun exhaled, rubbing his temple. "Fine. Meet me in 30 minutes. I'll be waiting outside your mansion. We can go to a restaurant or a café and talk peacefully."

Megha hesitated for a second before responding, "Okay."

As the call ended, Arjun leaned back in his chair, staring at his phone screen. His gaze lingered on the contact name—My little cloud ☁️❤️—before he finally locked his phone and stood up. He had no idea how this conversation would go, but one thing was certain—this meeting was inevitable.

Megha quickly got up to get ready.

Today she felt like wearing traditional so she chose one and quickly got ready, but as she glanced at herself in the mirror, she realized she was wearing a blue dress—Arjun's favorite color.

She groaned, slapping her forehead. "God, Megha, what are you doing? You're going to talk to him, not going on a date."

But there was no time to change now. Besides, it wasn't like things were the same as before—it's not like he'd care.

So she quickly wore matching bangles and a simple a pair of anklets, she loves jwellery.amd quickly wore a simple jutti.

Sighing, she grabbed her purse and carefully slipped out of the house, making sure her grandfather wouldn't notice.

Once outside, she walked a short distance and spotted Arjun's car parked at the end of the driveway. He was leaning against it, waiting.

He was dressed in a maroon shirt and black pants. Megha's steps faltered for a second. Oh... my favorite color.

She quickly shook the thought away and continued toward him.

Arjun noticed her approaching and straightened up, his expression unreadable, for a moment he just kept looking at her.

As she got closer, he stepped forward and silently opened the passenger door for her. Megha hesitated for a fraction of a second before getting in.

Without a word, Arjun shut the door, walked around, and slid into the driver's seat.

The car filled with a tense silence as he started the engine and drove toward the restaurant.

As they arrived at the restaurant, they took a seat in the corner.

A waiter approached them and asked, "What can I get for you, sir, ma'am?"

Arjun replied, "One cappuccino for me and one strawberry milkshake for her."

But soon, he realized his mistake and said, "Oh, sorry, I forgot to ask you before ordering for myself. Do you want anything else?"

Megha simply said, "No, I'm good. I'll just have the strawberry milkshake."

She fell silent after that—because it was her favorite, and he had remembered.

After some time, the waiter brought their drinks. They took a sip, letting the silence stretch between them.

After a while, Arjun finally spoke. "What do you want to talk about, Megha?"

Megha paused for a moment before saying, "You already know, Arjun. Our grandfathers want us to get married, and at the pace they're going, I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly dragged us to a random hall tomorrow and announced our engagement on the spot."

Arjun sighed. "Come to the point, Megha."

Megha met his gaze and said, "If it's come to the point where we have no choice but to get married, then why don't we sign a contract?"

Arjun let out a sarcastic laugh. "Of course. The legendary contract. I was wondering when this would come up—just like in your dramas and novels."

He leaned back and smirked. "So tell me, Miss Raisinghania, what conditions do you have? Let me guess—no sharing a room, marriage only on paper, a one- or two-year deal, no physical relationship, and absolutely no interfering in each other's lives. Did I miss anything?"

Megha raised an eyebrow. "Looks like you've watched dramas and read novels a bit too much, Mr. Oberoi."

Arjun said, "Okay then, what new conditions do you want to introduce?"

Megha met his gaze and said, "My first condition—we will give full respect to this marriage. For me, marriage is a sacred bond, not a joke to play around with. And no, it won't be a time-bound arrangement. It's a lifetime commitment."

Arjun was taken aback by her words. He hadn't expected this. Raising an eyebrow, he gestured for her to continue.

Megha said:

2: We will respect each other and our families.

3: No matter if we fight, feel sad, or face any issue, we will not let a third person get involved. Whatever happens, it will be ours to handle—no one else should have a say in our matters.

4: If we ever decide to be physical, it will be with mutual consent.

5: We will discuss with each other before making any big decisions in our lives. If we face any problems, we will solve them maturely instead of trying to walk out of this marriage.

6: Our bank accounts will be directly linked to each other, and all our passwords should be known by the other party.

"For now, these are the conditions I have. If I remember anything else, I'll let you know," Megha said.

Arjun shook his head and smirked. "It's not like you left anything for me to add, but still, I'd like to include one thing. Since we're starting a new chapter in our lives, we should leave the past behind. We both have our own versions of it. Also, we will not lie to each other or hide anything that could cause misunderstandings."

Megha nodded. "Very well. I'll have my lawyer draft the contract soon and send it to you."

Arjun leaned back and said, "Alright. Now, let's have lunch before heading home."

Megha gave a small nod. "Okay."

The waiter arrived with their food, placing the dishes in front of them. Megha absentmindedly stirred her milkshake, her mind still processing the conversation. Arjun, on the other hand, casually picked up his fork and started eating.

The silence between them wasn't uncomfortable, but it carried an unspoken weight. They had just laid down the rules of their marriage—one that neither of them had wanted, yet both were now willingly stepping into.

After a few minutes, Arjun broke the silence. "You seem lost in thought."

Megha glanced up, meeting his gaze. "Just thinking about everything. It still feels... unreal."

Arjun smirked. "Unreal that we're actually discussing marriage like a business deal?"

She let out a dry chuckle. "Something like that."

He leaned back in his chair. "Well, it's happening. And knowing our families, they won't waste time. We should prepare for the engagement soon."

Megha sighed. "Yeah. I just hope they don't surprise us with it overnight."

Arjun raised an eyebrow. "With your grandfather? I wouldn't put it past him."

She groaned. "Exactly my point."

Arjun took a sip of his coffee, watching her. "Anyway, since you came with me, I'll drop you home after this."

Megha simply nodded. "Alright."

With that, they focused on their food, each lost in their own thoughts about the life they were about to step into.

After lunch, Arjun dropped Megha home.

As she walked inside, she saw her grandfather sitting in the living room, watching TV. He glanced at her and raised a brow. "Where are you coming from, Meghu?"

Megha didn't reply. Instead, she walked over, sat beside him, and leaned into him.

Dadu smiled, wrapping an arm around her in a warm embrace.

She quietly snuggled against him for a few moments before softly saying, "Dadu..."

He hummed in response, still focused on the TV.

"I'm ready," she said.

"Ready for what, baccha?" he asked absentmindedly, his eyes still on the screen.

"To get engaged to Arjun," she murmured.

There was a brief pause.

"Okay, that's grea—wait, WHAT?!" He turned to her so fast that he nearly dropped the remote. "Did I hear that right? You're ready to get engaged?"

Megha nodded. "Yes."

Dadu chuckled in delight and pulled her into a tight hug. "I knew it! I knew you'd agree! Thank God—now I don't have to book a hospital ward anymore!"

Megha pulled back slightly, frowning. "Hospital? What are you talking about? Wait... don't tell me you were actually planning to fake a heart attack!"

Dadu gave her a sheepish grin. "Well... desperate times call for desperate measures."

Megha stared at him, half-shocked, half-amused. "Unbelievable."

Dadu patted Megha's head and said, "Okay, now go to your room and rest. I'll quickly call Harsh."

Megha's eyes widened. "Wait, Dadu! Don't call him now—at least wait until Arjun gets home and tells his grandfather first."

Dadu gave her a knowing look. "Gets home, huh? So, you went out with him? Not bad... a little date and all, hmm?" He smirked.

Megha rolled her eyes. "No, it wasn't like that! We were just talking—discussing whether we should say yes or not."

Dadu chuckled. "Oh, Meghu, you don't need to make excuses. It's good—go on dates, get to know each other. Now, go and rest."

Megha sighed, knowing there was no point arguing. Shaking her head, she got up and went to her room to rest.

Arjun reached home, humming a tune as he walked in.

His grandfather looked up and raised a brow. "What happened? Won a lottery or something? You look unusually happy."

Arjun quickly composed himself, schooling his expression. "No, there's nothing like that."

His grandfather wasn't convinced. "Where are you coming from?"

"Just had lunch with an important client," Arjun replied casually.

His grandfather nodded. "Alright, go now."

Arjun turned toward his room but suddenly halted. After a brief pause, he walked back to his grandfather and said, "Dadu, I think you should start the preparations now."

His grandfather frowned. "Preparations for what?"

Arjun shrugged. "For my engagement—what else?" Then, without waiting for a reaction, he turned and walked to his room, leaving his grandfather completely stunned.

Harsh sat frozen for a few seconds, replaying Arjun's words in his head. Then, as realization sank in, he shot up from his seat.

"Wait, WHAT?!" he exclaimed, but Arjun had already disappeared into his room.

Still in shock, he grabbed his phone and immediately dialed Vikram. The call barely rang twice before Vikram picked up.

"You won't believe what just happened!" Harsh said excitedly.

On the other end, Vikram smirked. "Oh, let me guess—you just found out your grandson finally agreed to the engagement?"

There was a pause. "Wait... YOU ALREADY KNEW?!"

Vikram let out a chuckle. "Of course. My Meghu told me first."

Harsh scoffed. "That girl! Why does she always win over my Arjun?!"

Vikram laughed. "Face it, my granddaughter is just smarter."

Harsh huffed. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. The important thing is—they both agreed! We should start planning immediately."

"Exactly what I was thinking," Vikram said. "I say we surprise them. Announce the engagement date tomorrow."

A slow grin spread across Harsh's face. "Now that... is a fantastic idea."

---

Meanwhile, in his room, Arjun leaned against the door, shaking his head with a small smirk. He knew his grandfather well enough to predict what would happen next.

"This is going to be a disaster," he muttered to himself.

At the same time, Megha lay on her bed, eyes closed, completely unaware of the storm their grandfathers were about to unleash.
