I thought I will just take a taxi home.
Just as I was about to open the door on my side, and tell Mang Joshua my decision.
Ayana returned with her friends, and HE was one of them. Suddenly, I got anxiously nervous.
unfortunately, Ayana saw me just as I was about to open the door on my side.
"Oh sis, where are you going?" she immediately asked me.
I froze and stammered, "Uh,uhm I.I'm just appreciating the door handle." I panicked and wasn't thinking straight.
They all laughed. "What?!" Ayana asked in disbelief while still laughing. She turned to her friends and said, "Just ignore my sister. She's just hitting puberty now, that's why she's a bit out of it sometimes!," she chuckled.
Her friends laughed even more, and it only stopped when Liam cleared his throat.
He's Ayana's crush. "So, are we leaving then?" Liam said. "Oh, alright. Come on in. The others can sit in the back. You'll fit there,"she replied.
Ayana sat next to me, and Liam sat beside her, placing Ayana between us. The others went to the back.
there were four of Ayana's friends with her when she returned.
The person I don't want to name,Mila and a guy haven't meet yet.
They sat at the back. I didn't have the courage to look at those behind me because I felt like I would get sick from the anxiety I was feeling, simply because i know we were together inside the car.
"Let's go, Mang Joshua, just drop us off at the mall," Ayana said once everyone was seated properly.
I just turn my attention to the book i was holding and started reading again, ignore them so you won't embarrassed yourself, i thought to myself.
Even though I was nervous, I forced myself to disregard them all.
Ayana and Liam were chatting beside me and Mila and the other guy at the back were talking very loudly which is very distracting. They were discussing the upcoming game.
Since they got into the vehicle, I hadn't heard him speak. So I was grateful.
My attention was focused on the open book I was holding when someone suddenly spoke from behind me.
His mouth was so close to my ear, I felt his breath, I was startled and trembled slightly.
"What are you reading? I can't understand it!" He chuckled slightly. "Your reading style is unique."
It felt like my heart stopped suddenly. My God, whu is it hard to breath. I thought it wasn't true but now that I've experienced it, it really is.
"Uh... eh... um...i.its an e.encyclopedia," I stammered.
I'm really unlucky, isn't it? Why is he sitting right behind me? He could have sat on the other side instead of seating there...
And why is he trying to read my book? And the worse thing is I didn't even understand what I'm reading since the time i open the book because I'm nervous, and he really had to ask...
" Hahahaha!" Helaugh.. His mouth is still near my ear, so I moved my head a bit towards the car window to get away from him. It's really ticklish, doesn't he know? Doesn't he realise it?
I ask" W-why are you laughing?"
" Hahahahaha, it's just that, you're reading the book upside down."He said with a teasing tone" Is that one of your skill?"
"What?T.That's not true!" I firmly denied and closed the book.
" Really?Then look at its cover? It's definitely upsidedown."
And When I looked closely, I almost died of embarrassment, he was right. It was indeed upside down...
Why did I only notice now? No wonder I wasn't understanding anything...
" Jake! Don't talk to her!". Mila snapped at him, pulling him away since he was still staring at me "Why are you even talking to her?"
" Do you like her, mate?" A friend of theirs, whom I didn't know yet, teased Jake.
"So what if that's the case, Dean? What's it to you?"Jake replied, which made me turn to their direction.
And I wish I hadn't because as I turned, I could clearly see how he was staring at me intently.
He was also gazing at me?our eyes met.
I suddenly looked away and hurriedly fixed my sitting position.
" Hey! all of you, if you don't want to walk to the mall, don't mess with my sister. Do we understand each other?" Ayana said angrily, pointing at the three sitting behind.
"Oh, it's Jake. He says he likes your sister Aya!" Dean said again. That man I don't know, but now I know his name because Jake called him Dean earlier.
"What? Hey Jake. Don't mess my sister!". Ayana is really angry now." I know my sister is innocent when it comes to that sort of thing, so don't you dare do something that i won't like. " After she said that she reveal a very annoying smirk. As if she remember something "And besides, she has a crush now. So you have no hope!" Oh thats why.
I felt someone staring intently at my back again and I knew it was him. I suddenly felt thirsty because of what Ayana said and also because of his gaze, even though it was only from behind I could really feel it and it makes me feel uncomfortable.
So I grabbed a bottled water from my bag and drank...
"Who knows, I might actually be the one she has a crush on."That sounds profound, I thought, which is why I almost choked on what I was drinking.
I coughed...
What did he just say?
"Jake! What do you even like about that girl? Just look at her! she dresses so poorly!" Mila said bluntly.
Why is she so angry? Is Jake her boyfriend? I almost felt like sulking at the thought that he could be her boyfriend...
"Why are you even interfering? You know I don't like free samples. I like sweet, untouch and wrap up food, like lollipop." Jake replied, still looking at me.
Ayana's eyes widened. "What!?"confused.
Mila exclaimed, questioning Jake. "What do you even mean by that?"
"Can't you understand? I don't like free samples" he even look at her from heat to toe "No matter how attractive it is. I prefer sweet and wrap up delicacy like lollipops because I want to unwrap them myself—no one else can taste them, only me," he explained while looking at me like I'm that delicious delicacy.
"And what does that lollipop delicacy have to do with my sister? huh! Jake!?" Aya asked in confusion.
"Isn't it obvious? She's my delicacy, she's the lollipop I've been craving for so long," Jake said casually, looking at me intently.
"JAKE..."
"Ma'am Aya, we've arrived at the mall," he said, cutting off what Aya was about to say as the car stopped in front of the mall.
Without saying a word, Jake exited the car and walked over to me, tapping on the window. When I didn't open it, he opened the door and reached into his pocket. He handed something to me, and because I was still in shock, I didn't take it, so he took the initiative to place it in my hand which send chills all over my body.
"HEY JAKE!!, what did you give to my sister, HUH!?" Ayana shouted, hurriedly getting out of the car to approach us, but after handing it to me, Jake walked into the mall without looking back.
"HEY! JAKE!, COME BACK HERE. I'M NOT DONE ASKING YOU!! Just as she was about to chase after him, she looked back at me and walked over completely.
"Sis!, what did he give you? There might be something there!"She took my hand that was holding something, and opened it up.
She gasped at what she saw...
