c6 Extra Story – The Green Gloves Are on Board
Green Gloves immediately understood the weight behind Gion's words.
She was practically pointing a sword at his chest—subtly accusing him of crossing the line by laundering money for pirates operating deep in the second half of the Grand Line, particularly in the New World.
Gion hadn't interfered before. After all, Green Gloves seemed to have Madara's implicit approval, and she had granted him a few small freedoms out of respect for that.
But helping Yonko-affiliated pirates clean their blood-stained fortunes and then vanish into thin air? That had crossed Gion's bottom line.
For the sake of Madara's long-term strategy and because the old man treated Xiaoyu like his own blood—Gion didn't come down on him immediately. Instead, she gave him a sharp, calculated warning.
After hearing Green Gloves offer an explanation, Gion's sharp gaze softened a touch. She nodded in satisfaction, but her voice carried a razor's edge.
"If it's just a rumor… then whoever spreads it, I'll make sure they swallow it whole. Today they talk behind your back tomorrow they'll be copying your signature and emptying your vault."
Her meaning couldn't be clearer.
It was one thing to handle logistical services for pirates under the radar. But to actively empower pirates with resources in a post-Marineford world? That was unacceptable.
She wouldn't punish him out of respect for Madara and his old bond with the monster Barrett, but she could easily shut down his entire operation dismantle his empire, asset by asset.
Green Gloves nodded furiously, beads of sweat dotting his brow, while internally he cursed his clueless underlings who had let things get out of hand.
These idiots think the Navy can't wipe out pirates? The only reason pirates still exist on the seas is because of the plan set by the "Dragon's Son" Monkey D. Luffy and that cursed Will of D.
Are they all blind?
The current Four Emperors don't even touch legal civilians anymore not because of morality, but because they're cornered. Who among today's pirates doesn't dream of retirement? Think you can just slip away? Step out of Totto Land, and you're nothing but dead weight. The Admirals will be on you before you blink.
Helping pirates launder money? Are you insane? Most of them are broke and bloodthirsty!
"Yes, yes. However many mouths opened, that's how many I'll shut. I'll handle it personally."
Though he was muttering curses internally, Green Gloves was still Green Gloves a man who once crossed swords with Madara and lived to tell the tale. Someone who Madara permitted to stay near both Wei Na and Barrett.
After calming Gion with his promise, he quickly changed the topic. He didn't bother with pleasantries.he spoke directly, as he always did.
"I figure you're about to make your move. So I came to give you something."
He grabbed an apple from the coffee table without asking, casually wiped it on his coat, and took a big bite. His manner was that of a man comfortable in the house of warlords.
Gion raised an eyebrow at his boldness but didn't stop him. Instead, she leaned forward slightly, her curiosity piqued.
"This about you and my father?"
Green Gloves nodded mid-chew. The crisp, juicy taste of the apple made him hum with satisfaction.
Damn, having money is really something. This kind of apple? You wouldn't find it even if you searched the Calm Belt.
Still nodding, he replied plainly.
"There's a deal between me and Madara. And it's tied directly to my life. Xiaoyu can't leave Sky Island. If he does I die. Simple as that."
Just as Gion opened her mouth to reply, Wei Na leaned in and whispered something directly into her ear.
She explained how Green Gloves had willingly asked Barrett to curse him a seal that would end his life should he ever betray Madara's wishes or leave Sky Island without permission.
Gion's eyes narrowed, and she frowned slightly. But the news reassured her more than it worried her. At least now she knew Green Gloves wouldn't dare scheme against Wei Na's family.
Still, her tone turned icy.
"This thing with you and my father… it's really so serious that you couldn't even tell me?"
Upon hearing Gion's question, Green Gloves offered a courteous smile, yet the coldness in his eyes betrayed a clear sense of distance.
"I'm fond of Xiaoyu, yes but don't mistake that for kinship. I've despised you ever since the Grand Auction at Sabaody, and that sentiment hasn't changed."
"The agreement between me and Madara isn't complicated. But a deal is a deal. He hasn't spoken of it, so I won't either."
With that, Green Gloves tossed the remaining half of the luxury-grade apple a rare Enies Lobby Red into the trash can without hesitation.
"I've said all that needs saying. You won't hear anything more from me. You're not Madara, so you're not someone I owe a single truth."
"I'm a villain, that much I'll admit. But if you're thinking about taking Xiaoyu from here by force, then kill me where I sit. And don't confuse this with the curse seal Barrett carries."
As the last words left his lips, Green Gloves slouched back into the adjacent couch like a worn-out relic from the Void Century. He slowly peeled off his glove, revealing a crystalline hand that shimmered like emerald Sea Prism Stone something not seen since the Buster Call incident at Ohara.
The sudden shift in energy startled even Hancock, who narrowed her eyes in instinctive aggression. But before she could so much as flex a muscle, a suffocating, ancient force engulfed the room.
The green glove flicked his gaze toward her, voice unwavering.
"Little Serpent of Amazon Lily… this is above your pay grade."
"Though I'm no longer in my prime, I once stood toe-to-toe with Uchiha Madara and survived. My power may not match the Yonko or Admirals anymore, but I'm not so easy to bury. If Madara didn't dispose of me, what makes you think you will?"
"In this entire sea, only two people bear the right to end my life. No… perhaps only one now."
His gaze slid toward Gion, and a wry smile curled at the edge of his lips.
Hearing the unfiltered words, Hancock flared up like a match to kerosene. She stepped forward to strike, but Gion raised a firm hand, halting her in place.
At that moment, Gion studied Green Gloves with rare seriousness. Earlier in the day, his demeanor had been almost laughably benign, like a retired merchant lost in the bustle of the market. But now now she saw what he had been hiding.
The instant he released even a fraction of his true presence, it was obvious: he wasn't bluffing. He might not be a Six Paths-level monster like Madara or Kaguya, but his life force alone rivaled that of Dragon head of the Revolutionary Army.
Gion's eyes narrowed. "So this was your agreement with that foul old man?"
Green Gloves let out a raspy sigh, and as if on cue, the tension in the air snapped like a broken string. His aura collapsed entirely, and he returned to his usual haggard, irritable self.
"No. I don't owe him anything. On the contrary, Uchiha Madara owes me."
"I bent the knee to him, yes. But if not for him, that 1,000 billion Berries locked in that doghouse vault of his wouldn't have kept me fed for three years."
"My talent wasn't unrecognized either. Master Im-sama praised me more than once. Genius isn't something unique to the Uchiha clan. You lot sprout like weeds in Konoha plentiful, flashy, and expendable."
Seeing Gion wasn't inclined to attack, Green Gloves stood, brushing off his coat. To be honest, he couldn't stand her her presence made his temples throb.
But as he turned to leave, Gion's voice rang out again, playful yet tinged with steel.
"Wait. You're already ancient don't be in such a rush. Sit down and act useless for a few more days, would you?"
Green Gloves froze mid-step, then silently sat back down. And in that instant, he finally understood why Shiki the Golden Lion always itched to challenge Madara.
There was a special kind of thrill in showing off to the strongest man in the world.
Then Gion asked, narrowing her eyes, "You said Xiaoyu can't leave Sky Island. Do you mean he can't leave the location of Sky Island or can't set foot off its soil?"
