"TEASER"
Blood stained her hands. His eyes, Ares's eyes, stared into hers, not with hatred, but something worse. Betrayal.Mira tore her gaze away. She'd promised herself no attachments. But some promises were meant to break.
In a world where gods wear suits and revenge is served through polished boardrooms, Mira Jeong will destroy the empire that destroyed her starting from the inside.
[CHAPTER 1]
Revenge tasted colder than she'd imagined. Not like ice cream or spiteful words colder, like steel. Like blood left out too long.
Mira Jeong adjusted the strap of her worn bag, eyes fixed on the towering glass monolith of Han Group Corporation. The place where everything had shattered. The place built on blood hers included.
This wasn't just a job interview. It was the beginning of war.
She stepped through the glass doors. The lobby stretched out in marble silence, polished to reflect the empire's pride. Her heels clicked in rhythm calculated, controlled. She wore a crisp white blouse and beige skirt, the uniform of someone harmless. But she was anything but.
A flicker of movement caught her eye. The Han Group logo 'a golden helm etched with a serpent curling around it' gleamed from behind the reception desk. The same symbol she'd seen once in blood, once in fire.
Her breath caught just for a second.
"Name?" the receptionist asked.
"Mira Jeong. I have an interview scheduled."
A short call later, she was escorted to the 32nd floor Executive HR, they said.
The door opened into a sleek room. Two people sat at a glass table. The man turned first: sharp jawline, dark eyes, polite smile. He stood.
"You're early," he said, his voice soft and warm. "I'm Jae Min Han, Vice Director. Please, have a seat."
She nodded. "Thank you."
Beside him sat a woman with perfectly curled hair and eyes like ice. She didn't stand.
"Why are you applying for a marketing assistant job when you were a licensed doctor?" the woman asked sharply. Her name tag read Rina Han.
Mira paused, her fingers tightening around her bag strap for a fraction of a second. "Personal reasons. I needed... a change". There was a trace of something unspoken in her voice.
Rina scoffed. "You're clearly overqualified. And unfit. We don't need distractions in this department."
Mira's gaze flickered down, controlled but sharp. "I understand."
Jae Min glanced at Rina, then back at Mira. His eyes lingered, calculating something she couldn't place. "Do you still hold a valid medical license?"
"I do. But I don't plan on using it again."
He studied her quietly, thoughtful. "We'll call you if you're selected."
Mira stood, bowing politely, her back straight and deliberate. She turned to leave, but as the door swung open, Jae Min's voice stopped her.
"Wait."
She turned, heart barely skipping a beat.
"I'm hiring you," Jae Min said simply. His voice was calm but firm.
Rina straightened, her eyes narrowing. "What?"
"I want her on the team," Jae Min said, unwavering. "There's something... different about her."
Mira didn't smile. But her eyes flickered for a second, the only sign of emotion she allowed herself.
"Thank you," she said quietly.
Step one: infiltrate. Her thoughts were clear as the elevator doors closed behind her. Step two: uncover the truth.
