Chapter:4

"Zayden"

( Trustworthy assistant, Max location"

After entering my office

As I settled into my chair, the soft glow of my laptop screen dispelled the lingering anger. My eyes widened as I opened the candidate's email. His words danced across the screen: "I'm happy to work with you, but I'm currently abroad. It'll take some time to return."

My fingers flew across the keyboard. "That's perfectly fine. I'm thrilled you've chosen to work with me. You won't regret it."

The silence that followed suggested he had retired for the night, leaving me to my thoughts. I reclined in my chair, gazing up at the office ceiling, lost in the solitude. My emotions, long suppressed, began to resurface.

The knock on the door shattered the stillness.

"Come in," I called out, hastily composing myself.

Harper entered, his expression grave. "Sir, I have something crucial to share."

"I sent everyone home. We can discuss it tomorrow," I replied, my gaze drifting back to the ceiling.

Harper's voice cracked. "Sir, I couldn't leave. There's no one waiting for me at home. I must finish my work."

A pang of concern stirred within me. "Harper, you need rest."

His eyes locked onto mine, determination burning within. "Not until we find your parents' murderer, sir. Not until justice is served."

As the first person to support my ambitions, Harper's unwavering loyalty touched a chord. "Tell me what's on your mind."

"Sir, I've discovered something related to Max," he said, producing CCTV images.

My focus snapped back. "What is it? Come, sit."

Harper settled into the chair opposite me, displaying the images. A man in a black hat and mask filled the screen.

"Are you certain it's him?" I asked, skepticism creeping in.

"Yes, sir. Our men confirmed it, but—"

"But what, Harper?" I pressed.

"He vanished into a remote area, sir. We lost him."

My jaw clenched. "Find him, discreetly. Deploy all available men. I won't let him slip away again."

Harper nodded and rose to leave. "Candidate replied, didn't he?" he asked, halting.

"Yes, he accepted. But he's abroad, returning soon."

A spark of hope flickered in Harper's eyes. "Excellent. With his expertise, we'll track Max down swiftly."

As Harper departed, I refocused on my work. The CCTV footage arrived in my inbox, and I immersed myself in hacking every camera in the area. Hours blurred together.

Suddenly, the sound of footsteps outside my office jolted me awake. My watch read 8:00

As I emerged from my office, the morning bustle enveloped me. Harper approached, a concerned smile on his face. "Boss, you must be exhausted from working all night."

"I'm fine, Harper. How about you?" I replied.

He nodded, his eyes crinkling. "I took a nap, sir. I'm good now."

Harper handed me a bag from my favorite restaurant. "Your breakfast, sir."

"You didn't have to do that," I protested.

Harper smiled. "I'll keep that in mind, sir."

After freshening up, I returned to my office and devoured my breakfast. My laptop beckoned, and I opened it to find an email that made my heart skip a beat – CCTV footage of Max.

Rushing out of my office, I hastened to the parking lot. Harper called out, "Boss, wait!"

I turned, and he caught up. "Where are you going, sir?"

"I have something important to attend to. I'll return tonight," I said, entering my car.

As I started the engine, Harper tapped on the window. "Take care, sir."

I nodded and called out, "Harper, take care of the employees, okay? Provide breakfast, coffee…just keep them going."

Harper saluted. "Don't worry, boss."

I sped away, my destination fixed – the coffee shop on the street where Max was last spotted. Inside, I chose a table behind a man wearing a black hat.

The waitress took my order, and as I sipped my Americano, a group of men in black outfits entered, their silence unnerving. A man in a black hat and mask emerged, his face obscured.

"You can't run from us, Max," he growled.

My eyes locked onto Max, who attempted to flee but was caught. The masked man's voice sent shivers down my spine.

"Sit. I won't kill you…yet," he sneered.

Their conversation revealed a web of intrigue. Max possessed evidence that threatened Kaiden's empire. The masked man's identity remained a mystery, but his motIves seemed complex.

As the tension escalated, Max hurled a cup at the masked man and made a break for it. The masked man deftly caught the cup and retaliated, striking Max.

The fight intensified, with both men exchanging blows. Max landed a solid punch, but the masked man recovered swiftly, twisting Max's arm.

As Max struggled, the masked man's words hung in the air: "I can save you." But from whom?

With a sudden burst of strength, Max ripped off the masked man's hat.

As Max struggled, the masked figure's voice revealed a shocking truth – she was a woman. "Vipa, call me Vipa," she declared, her tone husky and commanding.

So her ame is Vipa .what does it means .

Max's eyes widened in surprise. "You? Why are you here? He betrayed you, sent you to hell…"

What who betrayed her ? And sent to hell what does it means .I can't put these puzzle pieces together.if she working for kaiden why not she kill him directly.

Vipa's gaze never wavered, her long black hair framing her obscured face. I found myself captivated by her enigmatic presence, despite the danger emanating from her.

As she pulled out a gun, I intervened, standing between her and Max. "I don't think you should do this here."

Vipa's gaze snapped to mine, her eyes glinting behind the mask. "Mind your own business, or you'll end up dead."

Max seized the opportunity to escape, but I held Vipa's wrist, halting her pursuit. "You should pay for the damage and clean up the blood."

Her eyes narrowed, but she didn't strike. Instead, she seemed to study me.

"Do you have a death wish . Or you are blind and can't see what's happening and how dangerous is it for you to meddle here" she said this with a deadly sign . And then she Look around .

"Don't tell me this is your—"

I cut her off, grinning. "No, it's not my café. But still…"

Vipa's voice dropped to a warning. "Leave, or you'll never interfere in others' business again."

" With beautiful voice like this even a deadly command sound so much _" she cuts me off in the middle "don't interfere , it's the last time I will this this to you "

I countered, "I don't know about others, but I think it's okay to meddle in yours."

With these words she got stunned and Our standoff continued and I'm thinking about her voice that is so much attractive that can let any man enter but he can never escape from it .I was so much immersed in her voice until Vipa's gaze pierced mine. "Don't get ahead of yourself. Stop those dirty thoughts. My voice can also kill you."

How did she know? Was she a mind reader or something more sinister?

" How can an amazing voice like yours can kill someone". I asid with a little smile . "Well one word and my guards will never watse a moment letting a bullet into your heart ".

" Oh Raven ( mysterious) even with deadly threat I can't stop looking at you"

"you don't wanna live anymore .tired of your life" .she said this a bit angrily but still my thoughts spiraled out of control, drawn to Vipa's mystique. Beautiful, deadly, and captivating – I couldn't help but be enthralled.

But reality snapped me back. I was Mortifer, a murderer, heartless and ruthless.

I don't deserve someone .

I can't do that .I can't fall for someone .

I have to be heartless to kill then .

As I stood there, lost in Vipa's enigma, a gunshot shattered the air. I turned, stunned, to face Vipa's guards.

Their guns trained on me, but Vipa's command stayed their hands. A blow struck my head, and my vision blurred.

As I fell, Vipa's voice whispered, "This is for making me lose my target."

Her words dripped with venom, and my eyes grew heavy.

No, I couldn't sleep. I had to retaliate, pursue Max, and eliminate this captivating assassin.

But darkness claimed me, and Vipa's footsteps faded into silence.
