Chapter 4
-------------
The crackling tension between us hung in the air, thick and suffocating. Her eyes burned with an intensity I hadn't seen in a while. This wasn't just some random encounter—this was a battle of wits, of power, and of sheer will.
I wasn't just going to let her play me.
I slammed the woman against the wall, watching as her feet dangled above the ground. She struggled beneath my grip, but her power—her energy—fizzled out in the face of mine. She was powerful, sure. But she wasn't ready for this level of destruction.
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "You want my soul? It's gonna take more than your little tricks to get it."
Her eyes widened in shock, not because of the words I spoke, but because I was serious. No bluff. No hesitation. I wasn't here for games. She was nothing but another stepping stone on the path to something greater.
But then, her lips curled into that wicked, devilish grin again. She was playing her own game.
Woman: "You're arrogant, Wang Ling. That's your weakness. You think you have the upper hand, but you're about to learn the price of power."
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "The price of power? Please. Keep your lectures. I've already paid the price—and I'll make sure you do too."
The air around us hummed with energy as I poured more of my power into the palm of my hand, crushing the life out of her with a single motion. But then—a sudden flash.
BOOM!
The force of her release threw me back, sending me flying into the rubble of a nearby building. The shockwave was violent—enough to crack the foundation beneath my feet. But I wasn't done. Not by a long shot.
I had already begun charging up the next wave of destruction.
As I landed on my feet, I saw her—floating in mid-air, surrounded by a dark aura, her eyes now glowing like twin suns. She was preparing for something bigger.
Woman: "You're not the only one with power, Wang Ling."
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "I already know that, sweetheart. You just don't know when to quit, do you?"
The ground beneath me trembled as the woman raised her arms to the heavens. I could feel the power building, gathering like a storm. The energy she was summoning? It was enough to level cities.
But I wasn't about to let her have her way.
I teleported—appearing right behind her before she could even complete her incantation. My hand shot forward, grabbing her by the back of the head and slamming her into the ground with enough force to send shockwaves through the street.
The ground cracked, but she wasn't finished yet.
She lifted herself from the crater, her body shrouded in dark energy, glowing brighter now, almost blinding.
Woman: "Fool. You think you've won? This world doesn't belong to you."
I chuckled darkly, stepping over her with a casual confidence that was anything but.
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "No one owns this world. Not you. Not me. But I'm taking it anyway."
Before she could react, I slammed my foot into her chest, pinning her back into the ground with a massive energy pulse. The shockwave of my power spread through the city, shattering windows and sending nearby buildings shaking to their cores.
But she wasn't done. Of course, she wasn't done. Power-hungry bastards never were.
In the blink of an eye, she snapped her fingers—and the ground beneath me opened up.
Hellfire.
I barely had time to react as the flames shot up from the earth, surrounding me in an inferno. The heat was unbearable, the flames licking at my skin, but I didn't flinch. I was beyond the reach of mere fire.
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "You think a little hellfire can stop me? I'm made of destruction. Let's see how your flames like mine."
I summoned the full force of my celestial energy, unleashing a wave of pure, radiant power that blasted the hellfire back into the ground. The flames fizzled out in an instant, and I stood there, unscathed, eyes locked on the woman who was now breathing heavily.
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "You're weak."
Woman: "No… I'm far from weak. And soon you'll understand the consequences of underestimating me."
With a sudden movement, she disappeared. Gone. Not a trace left behind.
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "Coward."
I could feel her presence—she was hiding, waiting to strike again. But I wasn't about to let her dictate the pace of the battle. No. I wasn't going to play her game.
I charged forward, my energy turning into a blur of motion, faster than the eye could follow. I moved through the streets, knocking aside anything that got in my way.
Then—I found her.
She had reappeared atop a building, her arms raised again, preparing another spell. This time, it wasn't just dark energy—it was chaos magic.
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "You're really going to keep playing this game, huh?"
I teleported again—right behind her. Before she could react, I grabbed her arm and twisted it behind her back.
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "If you think for one second that I'm going to play by your rules, then you've severely miscalculated."
Her face twisted in pain as I pressed harder on her arm, her powers flickering in and out as she struggled to maintain control.
Then—a flash of light.
Before I could stop it, she opened a portal—a black tear in reality. A huge tear that began swallowing the city around us. Buildings crumbled, people screamed in terror as the portal sucked everything into it.
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "What the hell are you doing?"
Woman: "Taking what's mine."
With a snap of her fingers, the portal expanded, threatening to engulf everything. But this wasn't just some cheap magic trick. No. This was world-altering, reality-bending.
I gritted my teeth, realizing I couldn't just let it happen. Not like this.
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "Fine. Let's end this."
I unleashed every ounce of power in my body—celestial, elemental, destructive—combining it into a single, concentrated blast. The energy surged from my core, engulfing the entire street as I launched it straight at the portal.
Boom!
The explosion was enough to send shockwaves across the world, the very fabric of reality trembling.
The portal began to collapse under the sheer force of my attack, but I could feel her power still lingering.
Woman: "This isn't over, Wang Ling. You can't stop the inevitable."
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "Watch me."
I blasted her back with a final surge of power, sending her crashing into the distance. She vanished from my sight, but I knew this wasn't the last time we'd cross paths.
I stood there, breathing heavily, surveying the destruction around me.
Wang Ling (Kazuki): "It's just the beginning."
