Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Everything is Damn Expensive!

Noy Jitat!

The euphoria of victory didn't last long.

Jaxon stepped into the Fenshaw shopping district with a deadpan face already in place. Elise floated beside him, visibly pleased with herself, though her energy wavered slightly now that the adrenaline had worn off.

The eighteen-year-old relied on many things from his old world and the new one he had been reincarnated into—

Even though it had only been two weeks, Jaxon had learned one very important lesson:

He was absolutely cooked.

The old Jaxon didn't pay jackshit attention to real-world economics because the motherfucker gave up halfway through life. And the new Jaxon?Yeah. He wasn't doing much better.

As a former Haitian with ADHD, forced to spend every summer back in his home country, Jaxon grew up not giving a damn about money — until America came knocking and beat that apathy out of him with a baseball bat called "Bills. Sudden medical problems. Wisdom teeth removal at the worst possible time. America!"By the time he gave a damn (forced), he was already knee-deep in credit card debt like the rest of the wage-slave population, grinding soulless jobs that drained every ounce of ambition he had left.

In short: the new Jaxon Ryder Mercer had no idea how to actually buy things responsibly, budget properly, or avoid getting scammed out of his damn mind.

301,000,000 was not enough.

100M was the starting for a B rank food!

[XxX]

Near the eastern edge of the Fenshaw shopping district stood the Poké Teleportation Station. Even a nowhere town like Fenshaw needed one. The fees were outrageous, enough to make your ancestors weep, so when the station actually lit up, it got attention.

The light died down.

And the men?

The men collectively suffered nosebleeds.

A gorgeous young woman stepped gracefully off the pad, moving with the kind of casual power that should've been illegal.Long crimson hair that spilled down to her hips, styled with a single braid and a small clip holding her bangs to the side. Eyes sharp as glass and blue as a glacial lake. And that body — curvaceous in ways that would make statues cry: an absurd chest, slim waist, and wide hips that swayed with a natural rhythm that had half the street stumbling.

Her outfit?Absolutely criminal.

A low-cut pink top showcasing enough cleavage to start a religious movement. A dark red skirt cut just high enough to make men trip over curbs. Black heels clicking with every step. Two gold earrings, matching bracelets, and a delicate golden necklace nestled right between her generous assets.

Every guy in sight stopped functioning except for the faithful (read: terrified of their girlfriends), the gays, the kids, and the spiritually ascended monks who no longer knew lust.

Those poor bastards.

Her name?

Marceline Gato.Granddaughter of Simon Gato. Heir to a legacy she wanted to smash over his old wrinkly head.

The Gato Clan was a minor power among the Banking Clan — one of the original 100 founding families of the National Bank of Pokémon (NBP). To which is just going to be called one of the many Banking Clan members for the obvious reference.

They were never even close to top-tier power. Specializing in shipping materials, logistics, and the arms trade between Japan, Kanto, and Johto, they built modest strength... until setbacks, sabotage, and underinvestment in their trainer forces nearly crushed them over the decades. Ace trainers under employ were less willing to be employed for fear of death and had no reason to advance because of the family's poor connection to the Pokémon League battle circuit.

Marceline planned to change that.

She wasn't like the rest of her family. Born with the rare talent of Poison Aura, an affinity for Poison-type Pokémon, increasing their attributes, growth, and potential under her care and command. With a talent rare as hers, she was a real contender. A future Elite Trainer—or maybe even Silver Rank, if she played her cards right.

An Elite trainer was nothing to scoff at. They are far and wide considered the most effective and fearsome forces on the battlefield. One could defend a country single-handedly—and probably win.

But to get that far she needs to gain a Pokemon!

Marceline was supposed to be in Unova right now, negotiating for a rare dragon egg after months of political games and bribery. Instead, her grandfather had dragged her to some run-down backwater in Kanto.

Marceline Gato graduated with a double major MBA in International Business and Economic Management from Celadon University. She completed advanced training at Indigo Trainer Corps with specialization in Poison-Type Battle Strategy. Fluent in English, Japanese, and Kalosian. Former Vice President of the League Business Club.

She glared around the station, nostrils flaring.

A soft hand landed on her shoulder.

"Calm down, Marcy. I'm sure your grandpa had a good reason for this," chirped the bright voice behind her.

Another woman appeared, equally stunning.

Bonnie Hikifune—beaming wide, innocent as a fairy, and bouncing like crazy from pure excitement...which, considering the absolute watermelons strapped to her chest, made the men nearby choke on air.

Bonnie Hikifune was a simple soul: independent, friendly, humorous, optimistic, sensitive, caring, and genuinely kind. She came off naive sometimes, but the girl was deceptively brilliant.

The Hikifune family was a splinter branch of the famous Joy Clan — medical prodigies bred into their DNA. While the Joys maintained pristine clinics and polished reputations, the Hikifunes got their hands dirty. They specialized in trauma, battlefield medicine, Aura stabilization, and wilderness survival training.Where a Joy treated a sprained ankle, a Hikifune stitched up bullet wounds with a smile.

(Background: Bonnie Hikifune graduated with dual degrees: a Bachelor's in Pokémon Emergency Medicine and a Master's in Human Wilderness Trauma Sciences from Hearthome Medical Academy. Ranked third in her class. Cross-trained at Anistar Psychic Medical College for Aura Correction Therapy.)

(Background: Bonnie Hikifune earned dual certifications in Pokémon Emergency Medicine and Human Medical Sciences. Graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Sciences and Pokémon Field Treatment from Hearthome Medical Academy, top 3% of her class. Related distantly to the Joy Clan by bloodline.)

She wore a pink nurse's outfit with white trims, pink stockings, a purple lab coat draped over her shoulders like a cape, and sensible black heels.

Bonnie gave Marceline a fist-pump, causing her chest to bounce again and cheeks to puff out like she was psyching herself up.

Bonnie squeezed Marceline's hands, stars practically shining in her eyes.

"C'mon, Marcy! You're awesome! You can turn anything into a win!"

Marceline closed her eyes, breathing through her teeth.

"Bon Bon... if this turns out to be a waste of time, I swear to Mew, I'm throwing Grandpa into a pit of Sharpedos."

Bonnie grinned even brighter. "And I'll help push!"

Marceline cracked the faintest smirk.

But deep inside?

She swore — this bullshit better be worth it.
