Chapter 41 - 41

Niley used the seat as cover to secretly move the wolves from her space onto the cart. Just as she finished, she heard a woman shouting.

Turning around, she saw a well-dressed woman in fine clothes, followed by the woman from earlier and a group of guards from the restaurant.

Han looked worried and said, "Wife, Jufu Restaurant has connections with the county office."

Niley nodded to show she understood. She stepped in front of Han before the group got closer and said, "So, you're not the manager of Jufu Restaurant?"

Hearing that, the leading woman gave the woman beside her a sharp look.

The woman quickly bowed and said, "Manager, I really didn't lie, really!"

The woman snorted and ignored her, walking a few steps closer to Niley and Han. "Why are you looking for me?"

She glanced curiously at the cart behind Niley.

Niley casually lifted a corner of the seat, revealing several wolf corpses. Seeing the woman's surprised and happy expression, Niley raised her eyebrows and said, "I have some wild game here. I wonder if your restaurant can take them."

"All of these?"

Niley nodded.

"Of course, we can take them, but about the price..." the woman said, testing her reaction.

"It'll be at market price," Niley said calmly.

"That's fair, but with so many wolves..."

"Manager Ning, just go with this lady's price," another woman who had just come out interrupted.

Manager Ning turned around and said, "Big sister, why did you come out?"

"I heard noise outside and came to look."

She then looked at Han standing quietly nearby and at Niley guarding the cart.

Han, recognizing the woman as someone he knew before, nodded slightly without speaking.

The woman, seeing him, happily walked up to him. "Han, you haven't visited for quite some time."

Niley raised her eyebrows and glanced back and forth between Han and the woman, looking amused.

"Got delayed by something," Han said, pulling Niley over to introduce, "Big sister, this is my wife. She hunted all this game. Please have a look."

He pulled the seat off the cart, showing it was full of wolf corpses. The two women were stunned.

The slightly plump woman, who was scared by Niley earlier, looked complicated. If she had known they had a whole cart of wolves, she wouldn't have dared to chase them out!

"We'll buy them all for one hundred coins each. How about it?" the woman said.

"Big sister! Isn't one hundred coins too much?!" Manager Ning whispered, staring at Han all the while, even as Boss Hao pulled her aside.

Niley saw this and smiled, quickly agreeing.

The slightly plump woman then led the guards to move the wolves inside through the back door.

"Han, let Manager Ning take you to get the money."

Han stayed still and looked at Niley. Seeing her watching the scene like she was enjoying it, he felt a bit bitter inside.

Manager Ning also noticed something was wrong. She looked at her sister, then at Han's not-so-handsome face, and frowned.

"I can go get it myself!" she said.

Even though she wasn't happy, since her sister already agreed, there was nothing she could do. After all, buying so many wolves would still bring them profit.

Niley watched as most people left. The woman still stared at Han but said nothing, only silently looking at the sky.

The woman shook her head and said to Han, "Han, when you came a few days ago, no one mentioned you were married. How come now you suddenly have a wife?"

She looked Niley up and down.

Niley gave her biggest smile.

However, to the woman, that smile looked foolish and annoying. She pointed at her own head and said, "Is she okay here?"

Otherwise, why would she show no reaction when someone else was openly admiring her husband?

Or was she just someone Han found to pretend as his wife?

"Big sister, the money!" Manager Ning interrupted, running over with a bag of coins and giving her a wink.

The woman immediately understood and looked at Han again.

Manager Ning said, "Already counted. Two thousand seven hundred coins."

The woman handed the money to Han and even deliberately brushed his hand with her fingers.

Niley's eyes narrowed slightly, a cold smile appearing at her lips.

When the cart was brought back, Niley took it and walked over to Han's group, smiling sweetly, "Seems like you all get along very well."

Han looked at Niley calmly.

The woman smiled and said, "Of course. Are you really Han's wife?"

Han frowned when he heard that and shook his head slightly toward Niley.

But Niley, focusing on the woman, didn't notice. She lifted her chin and said, "Maybe I am, maybe I'm not."

"So you're not really husband and wife?" the woman said with a bright smile.

Niley: …

Han's face darkened. Without another word, he turned around and left.

Seeing Han leave, Niley didn't bother with the woman anymore and drove the cart after him.

On the street, Mr. Chen and the others, who had been waiting, were about to go inside to find them when they saw Han coming out with a dark face. Xing's eyes widened. "Big Brother, didn't you sell the wolves?"

Han shook his head.

Behind him, Niley drove the cart slowly toward them. Seeing their worried faces, she turned the cart to show the empty back. "They're all sold!"

"Wife is amazing!"

"Big Brother is amazing!"

Mier and Xing said together, then looked at each other and spoke again.

"Big Brother is amazing!"

"Wife is amazing!"

Mr. Chen shook his head with a sigh.

Only Liam, seeing Han's strange expression, glanced at Niley but said nothing.

Niley had just gotten the money and wanted to go shopping, but the group insisted on going home first. Left with no choice, they all returned.

Once home, Xing couldn't wait to ask Niley for the wolf money. He then added it to the money from selling handkerchiefs and started counting.

Everyone gathered around the table, each counting a small pile of coins, their faces full of smiles.

Niley leaned toward Mier, who was focused on counting, and sneakily pinched his waist under the table. "Do you want the money or do you want me?"

"Don't interrupt, I'll count wrong!"
