Thankfully, me and Bettie reached the school in time and we went to join the morning assembly. It starts with the morning prayer song. About thirty minutes later, the assembly ends with a morning speech by the Father.
All the students, who were tired and covered in sweat, start walking towards their classes as soon as the assembly ends.
"Do they think we are robots or something? Why do they always have to stretch the assembly?" Bettie says with an angry tone.
I just listened to her talk silently with a soft smile and we entered our classroom. Bettie sat in her seat and I sat next to her and start drinking some water because I was thirsty.
"Hey, did you hear?" Bettie says in a low voice.
"Hmm? What?" I said while looking at her.
"It looks like someone transferred to our school. It's a guy, I think. The girls are gossiping about him," Bettie said.
I was about to reply to her but got interrupted as Miss Maria walked inside our classroom.
Miss Maria is our class teacher who teaches us English. She is a kind and amazing lady. She always treats all of us nicely. She treats all of her students equally and that's why she is my favourite. She is a hardworking and sweet lady who helps and motivates us alot. She is the definition of a true teacher. She is like a role model to me. I wish I can be like her in the future.
"Good morning, students," Miss Maria greets us with her kind and soft voice.
"GOOD MORNING MISS!" we greet her back.
With a soft smile, Miss Maria looks at us and began to speak.
"Today, a newbie is going to join our class. I want you all to treat him nicely and get along with him."
"Why are you standing there? Please come in," Miss Maria says while looking at the door.
Everyone looked at the door curiously, including me and Bettie.
Soon we saw a tall figure entering our classroom.
As soon as my eyes fell on him, my heart starts pounding.
I saw a boy standing next to Miss Maria. The boy is not like some other guys I saw before. His beauty was unreal. He has ocean blue eyes. Not just the color, but his eyes were deep just like the ocean. He got some amazing facial features like a sharp nose, heart-shaped light pink lips, and a sharp jawline. It feels like he can cut me in half with his jawline.
With lots of thoughts, I continued to look at him while wondering if he is really a human being. He looks more like a novel character to me. And the more I look at him, the more curious I get.
I was in my own thoughts but suddenly I heard an enchanting deep voice as sweet as honey, which brought me back to reality.
"Hello everyone, my name is Eric Fox. I'm seventeen years old. I had to change my school in the middle of the term because of my father's transfer. I hope we get along well,"

All my thoughts got interrupted as I felt someone calling me. When I came back to my senses, I saw everyone in the class was staring at me. Without thinking twice, I immediately got up from my seat.
"What happened to you, Ruby? Is everything alright?"
Miss Maria says with a worried look.
"A-hh, yes Miss, I'm all okay. Why did you ask?" I replied nervously.
"Nothing, it's just I was calling your name for a long time but you were not replying," Miss Maria says.
"Oh... sorry Miss, I zoned out for a bit I guess,"
I said with nervousness.
"It's okay, Ruby. Please take care from next time. Oh, and yes, the thing I wanted to ask you is—the seat next to you is empty, so let Eric sit there,"
Miss Maria orders.
"Yes, sure, why not..."
After saying that, I sat down in my seat just to see Bettie looking at me with a question mark face.
"You're acting a bit different than usual. What's the matter, girl?"
Bettie says while staring at me like a CID officer.
"I—yaa, stop with your overacting. I'm not acting different. I just zoned out for a bit,"
I said in a confident tone just to prove Bettie wrong.
"Hmmm, you can't hide anything from me, girl. I'm your bestie. I know you better than you know yourself. You're actually different from the moment you saw that guy,"
Bettie says in a low voice while smirking at me.
"Yaa, you—"
My words got cut off as I heard someone's voice from behind.
I looked in that direction just to find Eric standing there while looking at me with a gentle smile.
"Hey, I'm Eric. What are your names, girls?"
He said.
"Myself Bettie and she is my friend Ruby,"
Bettie replies quickly.
Eric slowly sits in his seat and says in his gentle and soft voice,
"It's nice meeting you, Ruby and Bettie. Hope we get along well."
"Yes, nice to meet you too, Eric,"
I finally said after collecting some courage.
He smiles at me when Miss Maria suddenly speaks,
"Okay everyone, open Chapter 6, page number 56."
Our class starts and we began to focus on our books.
