Chapter 3 - Ch-3 power boost

Gwen took a deep breath, pushing aside the strange energy coursing through her veins. She had to act normal. Whatever was happening to her—whatever this black suit was—it could wait. Right now, she needed to focus on dinner.

She stepped out of her room and walked to the dining table, where her father had already set up their meal. The aroma of freshly cooked food filled the air, but something in his expression told her he was troubled.

She sat down, picking up her fork, but before she could take a bite, Captain Stacy spoke.

"Something is happening in the world," he said, his voice steady yet concerned. "A scientist I know warned me earlier today—he says we're on the verge of a catastrophe."

Gwen blinked. "A catastrophe?"

He nodded. "They don't know the details yet, but something big is going on. He said there are strange occurrences happening across the planet, and not just that—there's evidence that other planets, ones that are supposed to be far away, are somehow converging into one universe."

Gwen frowned, setting down her fork. "Wait, hold on. What do you mean other planets? Like, alien worlds?"

Her father sighed. "Not just alien worlds, Gwen. Other versions of our own planet. Like… alternate Earths."

Her heart skipped a beat.

Alternate Earths?

She had heard of the multiverse before. Miguel O'Hara—Spider-Man 2099—had warned her about it once. The idea that different versions of reality existed wasn't new to her, but if what her father was saying was true, then something was seriously wrong.

"How is that even possible?" she asked.

"They don't know. The scientists are still figuring it out." Captain Stacy leaned back in his chair, rubbing his temples. "They don't know why it's happening or what's causing it. But if these Earths are really merging together… it could mean disaster. Wars. Collisions. Complete destruction."

Gwen felt a chill run through her.

This wasn't just some random news. This was big.

Something deep inside her stirred again, and this time, she could almost hear it—a faint whisper in the back of her mind.

This world is changing. We are changing with it.

She gripped her fork tightly.

What if this was connected to her strange transformation?

What if she was part of whatever was coming next?

She swallowed hard, trying to keep her voice calm. "Did your scientist friend say anything else?"

Her father shook his head. "No. Just that things are about to get a lot worse."

Gwen stared at her plate, appetite completely gone.

Something was coming.

And whether she was ready or not… she was already part of it.

Days passed, but Gwen couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

She tried to push aside her father's warnings about alternate Earths colliding. Tried to focus on her training, on being Spider-Woman. But something had changed. She had changed.

At first, it was subtle. Her strength felt inconsistent. One moment, she could punch through solid concrete, the next, she struggled to hold onto a ledge. Her agility, her reflexes—everything felt off. It was as if some invisible force was draining her abilities away.

Then, it happened.

Her powers disappeared completely.

She had been mid-swing across the city skyline when, suddenly, the webline failed. Her Spider-Sense didn't warn her. Nothing did.

Gwen plummeted.

Her instincts screamed as she flailed in free fall, but there was no strength in her limbs, no enhanced reflexes to save her. She was powerless.

CRASH!

She barely managed to brace herself, crashing through a construction scaffold before hitting the ground hard.

Pain exploded through her body, but she was alive.

Her powers were gone.

And she had no idea why.

One Week Later

Gwen was back to square one. Training.

If she didn't have her powers anymore, she had to make up for it. Her body still had muscle memory, still knew how to fight. If she trained hard enough, maybe she could still be a hero.

But every day, doubt grew.

What good was a Spider-Woman without spider powers?

She sat in an abandoned warehouse she had repurposed as a training spot, panting, sweat dripping down her forehead after another failed attempt at a routine that once came naturally to her.

Then, she heard it.

A voice.

Faint, like a whisper in the back of her mind.

"Hello there… Gwen Stacy, the Spider-Woman."

She froze.

Her breath hitched as she scanned the empty warehouse.

No one was there.

"…Who's there?" she called out, her voice uncertain.

Silence.

She swallowed, her pulse racing.

No one knew her identity. Not outside her father. Not outside her own world.

Yet someone—or something—was speaking to her.

The air felt heavier.

Her fingers twitched. She knew, deep in her gut, that this wasn't normal. Something had found her.

And it wasn't going to let her go.
