Chapter 3 - The Crimson Dance

From a distance of roughly ten meters, I watched them with the silence of a stagnant air.

Humans... why do they want to kill that woman?!

A green-haired girl muttered furiously,

"Ugly! She must die at once!"

She spat on the ground, then picked her sharp nose.

A scruffy, dust-covered man glared at her with evident disgust. He whispered behind the cover of his hand,

"If your brothers weren't right behind us, I'd slap you until you bowed before me!"

I could hear their conversation as if their whispers were screams in my ears. What puzzled me even more... how could I even understand their voices that sounded like the croaking of crows?

I slowly stroked my eyebrow. It felt as if a machine was translating every syllable directly into my mind—like I was a computer made in 2025. But… I looked up, where light threads of the sun pierced gently. Wait a minute?! How is time even measured in this world?

While I tried to calculate the long years between now and the year 2025, suddenly, all sound ceased at once. That pulled my gaze toward them immediately.

A man with a faded yet white beard climbed the execution platform. He wore a violet-gray robe that trailed behind him like hidden blades of water.

Everyone moved with difficulty beneath the weight of his lifted foot.

He dragged his body forward with a cracked staff, as if colliding with time itself. Whispers jumped between lips like pale flies:

The green-haired woman: "Finally, that hypocrite will be executed!"

Another, with dark hair and a red robe, whispered behind his trembling hand:

"My lady…"

On the platform, the old man raised his withered hand, and the crowd straightened like a malformed hive.

He spoke in a voice cracked like old pavements:

"Speak… you harlot!"

He seemed about to strike her, hand raised… but then stopped? Strangely?

I didn't understand everything. The scene was unsettling… but it thrilled me. I'm curious for the next moment, too!

Still, I can't cut off her head. These childish acts may become the chains that strangle me if I overlook them.

I object to her execution… but I have no proof to save her, either.

The blonde woman, crucified upon the platform, wept in spasms, as though her body was being torn across scattered timelines.

Her hoarse voice was strange… stirring me, yes… But not in lust—rather, as if I wanted to suffer with her, To not leave her alone in these moments screaming with emotion.

Suddenly, a thought struck me. I relaxed slightly and shut my eyes tight. Bit by bit, my mind began spinning pink chains, weaving a tale of eternal love between her and me. In that story, we danced quietly upon the execution stage, her flowing blood helping me glide—as if skating on crimson ice.

She looked at me tenderly, her eyes golden, lashes thick and sharp as saw-teeth.

My lips curled faintly. "Every glance from your beautiful eyes makes me want to pluck them out!"

She smiled wearily as she danced fluidly in the palms of my hands. "If you want them… then I no longer need them!"

Laughter erupted in my head, then slipped from my lips. I snapped my eyes open and clamped my mouth shut—barely.

Old images tangled in my thoughts: people suffering in harsh moments. I joined them in fantasies, imagining myself as mercy incarnate—but in truth, I was emotionally numb. They were nothing but flavors softening my hardened heart!

I love this feeling to the brink of madness!!

My body trembled with laughter nearly bursting from me. I rose swiftly, then left the place with difficulty… On my way back, I was struck by the fever of a hero.

Why didn't you save her? My answer was: she was revolting! Every move made me want to vomit!

At last, I returned to the Nectar Field, where I find a strange inner peace. I paused before the nectar after a long breath, then leapt to grab hold of it and began climbing with my limbs.

Yet my giant body was light as a butterfly. I lost control of my next step.

With a swift motion, I flipped onto my back and fell into the nectar. Haah~! My God! This giant is far more agile than he looks?!

I looked at the sky, the cloudy flower still twirling in the air.

I blinked lightly as I watched the drifting flakes of darkness. I feel as though I belong only to this nectar… this world is nothing but another piece of hypocrisy.

I ran my fingers behind my head.

Is it justice to save her? But… what would drive me to do that? Should I kill myself to make justice exist?

I sat cross-legged as the winds circled within.

I cannot sell my soul to others… the demons are bidding too!

I tilted my head slightly, then raised my finger as if pointing to the heavens. Safe passage to the underworld… is the price!

I rose, anger veiling my vision. The other path? Your rotten emotions are like whores—shaking the pot of refinement!

"Zzzzz!"

I opened my eyes fast and dropped into a combat stance with African roots.

"Who's there?!"

I spread my arms slightly to widen my field of vision.

Immediately, I caught sight of a red bee flitting before me, hopping in the air.

"Zzzzz!"

Its buzz carried a strange melody, like text messages trying to infiltrate my brain… yet I couldn't understand a thing.

I frowned slightly from the sudden headache.

What is she trying to do?! I lowered my arms and quickly stepped back, saying, "What do you want?!" I can't act logically in a world that defies logic!

She fluttered calmly around the void, then hovered again. Before leaving, she turned her head toward me. Her dark eyes sparked a close, yet disturbing feeling in my chest.

There's something suspicious about this bee?!

They were the first creatures I saw in this world, even when they surrounded me upon emergence, I could feel their souls—they held a strange feeling, like they were part of me, yet…

I walked cautiously while thinking.

I won't find the answer by thinking alone. This world around me is like a vast desert I've never visited.

I clenched my fists as I resolved to follow her…

About an hour later, I was walking behind the bee. Light faded behind me, while the darkness ahead rippled like visible blades.

I felt threatened by everything around me. The trees were pale, like spirits embedded in the earth, still breathing. I sensed them whispering spiritual incantations!

The air was dense, as though deep inside a hidden sea—every step shook my soul more!

"Aren't we there yet?!"

"Zzzzzz!"

Suddenly, the bee swirled like a spiral ripping through the laws of void. She stopped suddenly, and an eye pulsed.

I had been cautious, but my curiosity about this world made me follow like someone hypnotized. Suddenly… I felt my mind ripple. My body was being absorbed by the dead cells of the void.

I shut my eyes against the headache crushing my mind—I didn't scream, because that doesn't suit me… The matter is more complex than a scream.

I could feel everything around me growing darker, more mysterious… but I didn't want to see that change. It felt as though something would snatch my soul if I looked now!

After an unknown span, I heard the buzzing sound draw close. That bee again?!

"Welcome… Prince of Sun and Moon.

The Fairy Clan is honored by your arrival!"

To be continued…
