Chapter 1 - 1. Headache

"Axel" Dane shouted as he relentlessly pounded his fist against Axel's door.

The sound echoed like a drum through the messy room. Each thud making his head throb.

Axel groaned to life, though he'd rather be in an unmarked grave than suffer this headache any longer.

He rolled out of bed like a drunken squirrel, cursed under her breath as he hit the floor. His mouth felt like sandpaper and tasted like cheap booze. The sunlight streaming through the curtain was a personal insult.

"You're mother will kill me if you aren't at the meeting in time!" Dane's voice carried through the door, sharp and impatient.

"Yeah, yeah. Just give me a minute, will you." Axel slurred, his voice was coarse and heavy.

He stumbled up off the floor like gazelle with two broken legs.

"Are you drunk?" He already knew the answer.

Axel did his best impression of walking as he made his way into the bathroom.

"No… just tired…" he tried his best to make his voice sound sober. It didn't help.

Dane sighed and thumped his head against the wall outside of Axel's door. "With how much she yelled at you last week…"

"Im not drunk… anymore." He said the last part under his breath before dunking his mouth under the tap and trying his best to wash out the smell of liquor.

"I was wrong… she'll have both our heads…"

"Would you stop being so dramatic?" Axel said, his voice less heavy and coarse now, but still as enoying as a whiny child. Though you could say the same about his whole personality.

Axel opened up his closet and grabbed the first thing that looked formal. Luckily enough, it was a suit, just a horrible wrinkled one."We'll be fine… she's used to it by now."

"That's… not a good thing."
