Chapter 31 - Kage vs Kage

Imagome lay on the ground, a hundred meters away from the epic clash between the Raikage and Tsuchikage. His face was pale, bruised, and marred by the pain of broken ribs. Blood occasionally dripped from his lips, a constant reminder of his grim condition.

Despite the excruciating pain that wracked his body, Imagome still clung to the faint flicker of vitality within him. With determination shining through his eyes, he slowly pushed himself up and began to stagger toward the arena. He had to inform everyone about the battle that was unfolding before it was too late.

A hundred meters away from Imagome, the battle between the two Kage reached a fever pitch.

The Raikage, his frustration mounting from the beginning of the fight where his attacks had failed to land, gritted his teeth in anger.

"If I want to win, I must fight with everything I have," the Raikage growled, a fierce resolve burning in his eyes.

In a flash, the Raikage surrounded himself with a crackling aura of chakra. His speed, strength, reaction time, and overall capacity surged, pushing him into a whole new level of power. It was time to fight seriously, and the Tsuchikage would have no choice but to follow suit.

Arano, the Tsuchikage, realizing the gravity of the situation, knew he had to match the Raikage's newfound intensity. Rather than standing on the ground, Arano activated his Jinton, allowing himself to levitate and soar through the air. Freed from the constraints of gravity, his speed and maneuverability were enhanced, giving him a crucial advantage.

The Raikage, fueled by a fierce determination, leapt toward Arano with terrifying speed. In mere seconds, he closed the distance between them, but there was one obstacle—the Jinton Cubes Arano had been hurling at him. Dodging them was no easy feat, and the Raikage had to weave and dash around the deadly projectiles. What would normally take him just 3 seconds to cover, now took him 8. Though it seemed like a minor delay, those 8 seconds were enough for Arano to reposition himself or unleash a new attack. Yet the Raikage was faster than before, and now, landing a blow on the Tsuchikage seemed within reach.

Arano's Jinton Cubes soared toward the Raikage, but none of them connected. The Raikage, moving at such blistering speeds, evaded every strike. The Tsuchikage's attempts to land a hit were growing more desperate, but his speed kept him just a hair's breadth from his opponent's reach.

And yet, Arano had not revealed all his cards.

"Jinton Separation," Arano murmured under his breath, weaving a hand sign.

In an instant, one Jinton Cube split into two identical cubes, their size and power unchanged. But Arano wasn't satisfied—he created another, which split again into two more. Now, with four Jinton Cubes surrounding him, the Tsuchikage was ready to launch a deadly barrage. But he did not need to throw them immediately; Arano could keep the Cubes in the air, using them as he saw fit.

The Raikage, now on the ground about 30 meters away from Arano, paused as he saw the four deadly Jinton Cubes hovering around his opponent. A cold chill ran down his spine. Approaching recklessly could be disastrous.

"If he launches all of them at once, I'll have no way to dodge," the Raikage thought to himself, his mind working at a rapid pace. "I'll need to approach differently."

"Ninja Art: Three Thunder Dragon!" the Raikage shouted, performing a rapid series of hand seals.

From the earth, three enormous dragons of crackling lightning materialized, each one ten meters long, and all three surged toward Arano with unrelenting speed.

But Arano wasn't helpless. With a deft twist of his body, he took to the air, trying to evade the dragons. Yet despite his best efforts, the dragons pursued him, their electric jaws snapping and crackling.

Realizing that his Jinton Cubes had a chance of taking down the dragons, Arano hurled one at the oncoming beasts. The cube collided with one of the dragons, obliterating it in a shower of sparks, but the other two dragons remained undeterred, their deadly pursuit continuing.

Arano's mind raced as he launched two more Cubes. The speed of the Jinton Cubes was too much for the dragons to handle, and both were reduced to ash. However, just as he was preparing to create another Cube, a sudden presence behind him sent a jolt of fear through his spine.

The Raikage had used the dragons as a distraction. By the time Arano destroyed the last dragon, the Raikage had already closed the distance between them.

The Raikage, now directly in front of the Tsuchikage, focused chakra into his fist, his muscles tensing. In a blur, his fist shot forward, aiming for Arano's chest. The Tsuchikage barely had time to react, his body still in motion from the fight. Dodging was impossible at this distance.

"Too fast…" Arano thought in a panic.

"I can't dodge this punch; if it hits with full force, it will crush me… I need to minimize the damage!"

With no time to spare, Arano launched himself to the left with all the speed he could muster. But even his agile body couldn't avoid the Raikage's devastating strike. The punch landed with a thunderous crack, and Arano was sent careening through the air. His body slammed into the ground, the impact knocking the wind out of him.

The Raikage, sensing his advantage, charged forward, intent on landing the killing blow. But just as he closed in, a Jinton Cube shot toward him. The Raikage, caught off guard, had no choice but to retreat, putting some distance between himself and his enemy.

Though blood dripped from Arano's mouth, he wasn't finished. He was hurt, but still very much in the fight.

Overconfident after landing a solid hit, the Raikage let his guard down for a moment, believing that the battle was already won. His mistake was nearly fatal. Had his speed not saved him, the Jinton Cube would have disintegrated him in an instant.

The Raikage, now battered but still alive, breathed heavily, narrowly escaping death.

The battle raged on, neither side giving quarter. But could anyone stop the two Kage before their clash became the end of everything?

While carrying out Akatsuki's mission, Itachi learns about Sasuke's state of being, as well as learning of Naruto's existence. He learns Sasuke has awakened his Sharingan, and learned Chidori from Kakashi. At a latter occasion, he questions Naruto about how he would measure the safety of Konohagakure against Sasuke's. Sasuke finishes reminiscing on Itachi's memories. Meanwhile, back on the battlefield, the light of the Infinite Tsukuyomi fades and Sasuke dispels his protective Susanoo barrier. Madara returns back to the ground and chastises the survivors, explaining why he believes Hashirama's dreams were flawed, but before he can do much more, Black Zetsu suddenly stabs Madara through the heart. Exclaiming in shock, Madara begins to swell and huge amounts of chakra are drawn to his location. Sasuke and Naruto attempt to stop the plan from succeeding, while Black Zetsu explains that he has been waiting for this moment for aeons and that it is the will of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. While Naruto is worried that if they don't stop the massive chakra, it will end up killing everyone, Black Zetsu tells him that Kaguya had once used the technique, but didn't kill anyone. Instead, she used it to create soldiers, revealing that humans who were caught under the genjutsu previously eventually became the White Zetsu Army, through a slow process over time. Madara asks why the tablet said the technique would calm all wars in the world, only to realise in shock that Black Zetsu had made revisions to the tablet and that he was merely a pawn for the revival. Just before he is swallowed, he dwells on his mistakes, before the swelling stops and Madara is replaced by the reborn Kaguya.
