While the Raikage and Tsuchikage engaged in a battle of monumental proportions, the Chunin Exams continued unabated within the arena.
"Onakite Uchiha vs. Doki Sarutobi, fight!" the commentator announced, his voice reverberating through the stands.
Doki, a master of the fire element, wasted no time. He flung a massive fireball toward the Uchiha girl with swift precision. As his hands blurred through a series of hand signs, he created a shadow clone to assist in the assault.
However, Doki had gravely underestimated his opponent. Onakite, a proud member of the Uchiha clan, was more than capable of handling such an attack. Known for their mastery of fire-style techniques and their legendary Sharingan, she responded in kind.
With a focused gaze, Onakite summoned her own fireball, meeting Doki's head-on. The two flames collided with a deafening roar, but Onakite's technique prevailed, effortlessly neutralizing the attack.
Turning her gaze to Doki, Onakite activated her Sharingan, her eyes glowing crimson with a deadly gleam. Without hesitation, she dashed toward him, her every movement precise and calculated.
"Winner of the fight: Onakite Uchiha," the commentator declared.
The next match was quickly announced: "Inakami from Kumo vs. Onakite Uchiha."
Inakami, while no weak ninja, found himself outclassed by Onakite. After a hard-fought struggle, Onakite emerged victorious once more.
"In the next match, Onakite Uchiha will fight Imagome from Kumo," the commentator continued.
But the battle never came to pass. Imagome was nowhere to be found. After several minutes of waiting, Onakite was declared the winner by default.
"The Chunin Exams are finished, and the winner is Onakite Uchiha from Konoha!" the commentator announced to the cheers of the crowd.
Soon after, the Hokage personally congratulated Onakite for her victory, and within fifteen minutes, she was promoted to the rank of Chunin.
As the arena cleared, the Hokage's thoughts wandered to the ongoing battle between the Tsuchikage and the Raikage. His nerves began to fray as time ticked by. Just as he was about to contact his ANBU, one of the masked operatives appeared before him.
"Lord Hokage, the Tsuchikage and Raikage are engaged in combat," the ANBU operative reported.
Hiruzen's expression grew dark. "How did you obtain this information?" he inquired.
"The information came from Imagome, the ninja who was absent for the final fight," the ANBU replied.
"Where are they fighting?" Hiruzen asked, his tone grim.
"Approximately two kilometers from here. Imagome was wounded when he arrived; he has been sent to the medical unit for treatment," the ANBU explained.
"I see. Notify all ANBU squads immediately. I want four squads with me—I will go to intervene directly," Hiruzen ordered, his voice filled with resolve.
But why was the Hokage so determined to stop the fight? The answer was simple: if one of the Kage were to die, it could trigger a war between Kumo and Iwa. Though Konoha might seem unaffected at first, there were many risks. Konoha could be dragged into the conflict, rogue ninjas would become more numerous, and the village would be forced to send additional forces to defend its borders. Above all, Hiruzen didn't want to see another war break out.
Meanwhile, several kilometers away from the arena, the battle between the Tsuchikage and Raikage continued.
"Jinton Triple Cube!" Arano, the Tsuchikage, shouted as he formed a series of rapid hand signs.
"Raiton Triple-Headed Dragon!" the Raikage countered, creating three massive lightning dragons that charged toward Arano.
Without missing a beat, Arano launched one of his Jinton cubes directly at the incoming dragons. But just as the cube was about to destroy the lead dragon, it split into three smaller dragons. The Tsuchikage's attack missed its mark, and the dragons continued their pursuit.
Now, with three dragons barreling toward him, Arano launched the remaining two Jinton cubes to intercept the beasts. At the same time, he darted upward, attempting to evade the third dragon.
Two of the dragons were swiftly destroyed by the cubes, but the Tsuchikage didn't have enough time to create another cube. With no other option, he flew upwards at full speed, trying to avoid the last dragon. But the relentless beast stayed on his tail.
Just as the dragon was about to strike, Arano veered to the right, narrowly evading the attack. To his surprise, the dragon exploded in mid-air, releasing a violent burst of electricity.
Caught too close to the blast, Arano was thrown backward by the explosion, his body wracked with pain from the surge of electricity. But he refused to give up. Lowering his altitude to regain control, Arano prepared for his next move.
The Raikage, sensing an opportunity, jumped toward him, but it wasn't a smart move. Arano easily evaded the attack by shifting his position.
With the Raikage now falling, Arano saw the perfect opportunity. Drawing on his mastery of the earth element, he transformed the ground below into hundreds of sharp rock spears. With a flick of his wrist, he sent them hurtling toward the Raikage.
The Raikage, despite his immense strength, found himself facing a wall of lethal spikes. He began to destroy them one by one, but his speed wasn't enough to avoid all of them.
As he landed, the Raikage appeared battered, with scratches across his legs and arms and a wound bleeding from his side.
