Vinnandra stayed until Lady Brienda slept off. Tucking the woman to bed, her heart felt lighter like she had just taken off a huge burden off her chest.
It was not so much that she had the answers to all the questions in her head, it was that Lady Brienda had showed that she didn't necessarily need to have all the answers to her questions.
She could take it one at a time.
Entering her guest lodgings, she stripped herself off her bloodied, dirty clothings. What she needed was a long soak in a hot bath, but she obviously was not of such rank to possess such luxury so she had to do with an ordinary bathe.
But that was good enough in her current state. The healers had done a good job snap her ailing joints back in place. While she almost couldn't feel the pain in her ankle, the pain on her shoulders still throbbed—the pain a reminder of what her body had gone through in the last few hours.
