Chapter 180 - Chapter 182

Led by an Anbu ninja, Uchiha Itachi pushed open the door and stepped inside a dimly lit house.

"Itachi, you're here," a voice greeted him. The speaker was a young man, slightly older than him.

With short black hair and a round nose, it was none other than Uchiha Shisui.

"Shisui-nii… your eye?" Uchiha Itachi's gaze landed on Shisui's right eye, and his voice carried a note of surprise.

The eye patch that had once covered his right eye was gone. Instead of a hollow, lifeless eye, what now stared back at him was a completely intact Sharingan.

Back when Shisui had lost his eye, Itachi had even gone to his father, requesting a Sharingan from the collection the Uchiha clan kept. But his father had ruthlessly denied the request.

Logically speaking, Shisui should not have been able to obtain a new Sharingan.

"When Hokage-sama took over Root, he found a collection of Sharingan that Danzo had secretly taken from the Uchiha clan. Hokage-sama returned one to me," Shisui explained.

"Danzo?" Itachi's expression darkened. The fact that Danzo had been hoarding the Sharingan of fallen Uchiha clan members was sickening.

"I know you're angry, but Danzo is dead. There's no point in dwelling on it now," Shisui said, shaking his head. "Danzo's actions were extreme, but in his own way, he believed he was protecting Konoha."

"I see," Itachi murmured.

Danzo and Root had committed many ruthless acts, but they had ultimately been done in the name of the village. Now that Danzo was dead, there was no use holding onto hatred for the past.

After a brief silence, Itachi spoke again.

"Shisui-nii, my father asked me about you a few days ago."

Shisui's eyes sharpened with alertness. "He was trying to get information on me?"

Itachi nodded. "Yes. I told him you had left the village for a mission, and he didn't ask any further questions."

"Be careful," Shisui warned. "If my identity as an insider has been exposed, you must not let yourself be caught up in this."

Itachi gave a firm nod.

"By the way, Hokage-sama mentioned that you wanted to see me. What is it?" he asked.

Shisui hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Itachi, what do you think about the current relationship between our clan and the village?"

Itachi fell silent before responding in a low voice, "It's bad."

Shisui sighed. "Yes. Not just bad—it's only getting worse."

Then, his tone became heavier. "Yesterday, Fugaku privately contacted the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki. I assume you've heard about this?"

Itachi's face turned grim. "Yeah, I know."

The Nine-Tails Jinchuriki was a highly sensitive matter. If his father had approached Naruto in secret, it would inevitably worsen the already fragile relationship between the Uchiha clan and the village.

More than that, Itachi couldn't shake the feeling that his father might have had ulterior motives.

"If things continue this way, our clan may reach a point where Konoha will no longer accept us," Shisui said solemnly.

He then fixed Itachi with a determined gaze.

"Itachi, I've made up my mind. I will stop the clan."

"How?" Itachi asked, a hint of hope in his voice.

He had always wanted to find a way to mend the divide between the Uchiha and Konoha, but he had never known how.

Shisui's left eye turned blood-red, the black, four-pointed shuriken pattern in it spinning slowly.

Itachi's breath caught.

"Is that… your Mangekyō Sharingan?"

The Mangekyō Sharingan was the pinnacle of their clan's bloodline, and he couldn't help but feel a deep sense of admiration and longing as he gazed at it.

"In my Mangekyō Sharingan, there exists a technique called Kotoamatsukami," Shisui explained. "This ability allows me to alter a person's will at the very core—changing their thoughts and beliefs without them even realizing it."

Itachi's eyes widened in awe. "That's an incredible power!"

Shisui nodded. "I plan to use Kotoamatsukami to change the will of our clan, starting with the patriarch."

He looked at Itachi apologetically. "I know you may hate me for this, but I have no choice. This is the only way to stop the clan from making a terrible mistake."

Itachi remained silent for a long time before shaking his head. "I don't hate you, Shisui-nii. I understand your reasons. My father is the clan leader—if his will can be changed, then so can the clan's."

"Thank you for understanding," Shisui said, relief evident in his voice.

He sighed again, his expression troubled. "But tell me, Itachi… am I really doing the right thing?"

Itachi nodded without hesitation. "You are. If the conflict between the Uchiha and the village continues to escalate, it could lead to war. You're preventing that from happening."

Hearing this, Shisui's expression softened.

For the first time in a long while, he felt a sense of reassurance.

A few nights later.

One after another, elite Uchiha clan members were discreetly replaced with Uchiha Fugaku's spore clones. Meanwhile, the actual elite members quietly slipped out of the village, avoiding Anbu surveillance.

Under the cover of darkness, they made their way to the Uchiha clan's secret base outside Konoha.

Standing before the gathered fifty elite Uchiha, Fugaku spoke. "This is the Uchiha clan's secret base. Over the next few days, you will train in barrier ninjutsu and coordinated attack formations. This will strengthen your teamwork in preparation for what's to come."

One of the clan members hesitated before asking, "Patriarch, why have we left the village in secret just to practice these techniques?"

Fugaku fell silent for a moment before making his decision.

"There's no need to keep it hidden anymore," he finally said. His gaze swept over the gathered shinobi.

"Our mission is to ambush and eliminate Uchiha Shisui."

The room fell into stunned silence.

"Shisui?" one of the clan members echoed in disbelief. "Patriarch, why?"

Most of them revered Shisui as one of the clan's greatest prodigies. The idea of killing him was inconceivable.

"Because Uchiha Shisui is a traitor," Fugaku said, his voice filled with quiet fury. "He has betrayed the Uchiha clan. He serves the Third Hokage as a spy. He is an ungrateful wolf who turned his back on his own blood."

The shock among the Uchiha was evident. Some hesitated, unwilling to believe it.

"Is this true?" one of them asked, his voice unsure.

Fugaku's expression was firm. "It is. He is working against us. That is why we must eliminate him before he does irreversible damage."

The First Elder and Third Elder stepped forward.

"What the patriarch says is true," the First Elder confirmed.

"Uchiha Shisui has betrayed us. According to our clan's laws, such a traitor must be put to death," the Third Elder added.

Hearing confirmation from the elders, the remaining Uchiha finally accepted the truth.

Their hesitation was replaced with seething anger.

A roar of voices erupted from the group.

"Kill Uchiha Shisui!"

"He must pay for his betrayal!"

Fugaku watched them with cold satisfaction.

Everything was going according to plan.
