"Why?" Noel's lips quivered.
"Why did you betray me ?" he felt metallic taste in his mouth, his conciousness slightly blurring due to blood seeping out of his wound. He shut his eyes, unable to bear the searing pain —the cruel gift of his dearest companion.
All around him, the dungeon was engulfed in flames. There was a sea of fire , and each breath was a struggle, heavy and suffocating. Yet, the fire within him burned even hotter—a storm of rage and anguish that far surpassed the destruction surrounding him.
"I never wanted to end your life Noel. You made me do it! It was all because of you, Noel!"
His face twisted with pain.
"Did you ever realize how many people lost their lives serving you?" he shouted at the top of his lungs
Pain in Noel's abdomen became even sharper . A blurry image with a face stained with tears and blood formed in his subconscious.
"Ahhh! How on earth did you become like this? What happened to the Noel I knew?" His voice was shaking.
"No, no, no... it can't be—it can't happen! What have I done?" he sobbed and cried hystericaly.
Meanwhile Noel's breath became shallow, erratic, his chest heaving as his body gave out.
The burning air clawed at his lungs, his heartbeats growing weaker, slower, until even his fury flickered like a dying ember.
In the midst of the chaos, he saw his companion stabbing himself with the very sword that took his life, a lonely tear rolled down his eye and he exhaled one final, ragged breath, his body falling still as the flames roared on around him.
