[ Chapter XVIII (18): "A TRUE PRODIGY!" ]

John Constantine though confused, is still more determined. He pointed his wand at a small crushed can nearby; chanting to himself as loudly as he could the first-ever spell he had been taught. Plus imagination.

Determination, wand movement, chant, and imagination are all key aspects in casting a spell amongst other things like emotions and experiences. But at the moment, those four which are being wielded by John seem to be enough.

As seconds later the small crushed can of soda levitates slightly in the air, though wobbly, though not that far. It still floats...

[ "It works!" ] He exclaimed out loud which made him lose focus, but still, the effect of what he did earlier is still awesome; and is something that he'll remember for days to come.

The young blonde haired, blue-eyed boy. Though messed up, though looking much worse than a beggar, still smiles and proudly raises his head to look at the side.

Looking to where his mentor is sitting, which in turn looked bewildered at the scene happening; with a smile showing to the side of his face.

This made the former raise his head more, proud, at the point of slight arrogance— making himself think that he is a prodigy in this, a one in the million, a diamond in the rough.

John Constantine is just but a 12-year old boy, but is smart enough to run away from his abusive father... He has a rebellious side of course, and a pride in him; so this side of his he is showing shouldn't be a surprise...

Because after all, he is a prodigy at this.

Felix at least thought of him as that, as he watches the scene not far away; looking especially intrigued at the floating text above the boy's head— which to everyone other than him is invisible.

[ "Well done, John!" ]

[ "You're a natural at this, do it again." ]

He doesn't know if it's because John Constantine is english, just like the wizards and witches he knew off in growing up. But apparently the kid is quite gifted.

Felix just showed him the wand movement i.e. swish and flick, the desired effect, few guides here-and-there, and the incantation. He didn't even personally cast the spell because he couldn't.

Unlike this kid, and all the other students in Hogwarts; he can't learn magic the normal way, he needs to spend money to be able to use it, then have to practice it with many restrictions.

So, to say that he envies this student... Would be the understatement of the century.

But in seeing the kid do well in practicing magic, and unexpectedly give him Points in return, he encourages the young wizard.

Smiling in return, before focusing back on the crushed canned of soda. Determination in the young wizard's eyes wanting to quickly master magic— the reason? Because magic is cool. And because he wants to fly some day.

[ ... ]

Felix for half an hour watches silently as his first-ever student, John Constantine studies, and efficiently learns magic right there on the spot. Even faster than him who needed to study a single spell for a couple of days when purchased...

He couldn't believe the quickness in how his student, John, was able to grasp the concept of magic, each chant of the same spell and he quickly learned his shortcomings, improving each time...

He could even hear the boy mumbling to himself in the short span of time; words like, "inefficient wand movement" "lost focus" "chanting not loud enough" and "need to visualize." Coming and going from the young wizard's mouth.

Which greatly shocked Felix, he who has been a fan of the Harry Potter Universe. Spending his time reading and re-reading the books, creating theories, and even reading fan fictions of that said universe quickly realized that the boy... The boy is not just a prodigy, he is a genius!

And the fact that in half an hour the boy gave up 53.6 worth of Points is a huge bonus... He was only learning about the most basics of basics, how can he give him that much?!?!

[ "Hey, P-professor. Look!" ]

He hears the squeaky, immature, but still slightly gruff voice of the kid... So he turned and looked... But what awaited him is multiple crushed cans of sodas, levitating; with ease.

Not just simply levitating, but levitating to the point in which they even pass the short stature of the young wizard... Slightly wobbling, but overall can be considered stable.

[ "I-I done great, right?!" ]

Yeah, no, kid. You done more than great...

Felix wanted to shout those exact same words, but couldn't. As if a giant lump of something was blocking his throat; as his eyes widens more than it could possibly have, extremely bewildered...

This kid is a damn genius!

Simply giving this kid a wand simply made the System recognize him as a student of Felix. Given half an hour... And this kid is already better than his teacher in terms of casting...

How great can this John Constantine be in the future?!

Felix doesn't know, he isn't a prophet or someone who can see the future of others. But at this moment he can at the very least assure that, yeah, this kid is gonna be something great...

And also would be the piggy bank of Felix which will solve his financial crisis, his issue in brokeness; his problem that have been plaguing him for half a year... This kid is the key!

He needs to get him to his side, as quick as possible; even before the school year starts so he can buy the necessary equipments for the other students...

And also for his broke ass to be armed with spells; he only knows a few at the moment, and that'll be bad for the future.

[ "I-is- d-did I not do great?" ]

[ "A-am I not gonna be a wizard?" ]

N-no, hell, no. Absolutely not! You'll be a wizard for thousands of years, you can't back down, you can't retire. Who told you that you wouldn't be a wizard?!!

Felix wanted to yell all of those out, but only one-tenth of his thoughts was able to come out. Due to his confusing thinking, if he were to utter more; then the young wizard would be confused.

[ "No, you're actually great at this." ]

[ "So-so, very great really. One of the most gifted I've seen thus far." ]

[ "Are you sure that you weren't already a wizard?" ]

Genuine question, intrigued laced in his voice. His heart not believing, that this kid isn't a wizard before, because the kid quickly grasped magic... Something that wasn't easy for him... And this kid did it one-one hundredth faster than him.

Then shouldn't he be taught before by someone? Somehow? Or is it just plain prodigy-genes doing all the work? Something that Felix doesn't have...

This is just plain unfair. Why doesn't he have this said prodigy-genes, even one-ninth of it would do... But apparently he doesn't have it, and is just a simple commoner in front of a nobleman... Simply unfair.

[ "I-I wasn't... I think." ]

You think?!!

From what he knows of the kid, John Constantine, the detective-trickster of demons definitely is someone who is a descendant of someone powerful. If not, then someone smart.

From clips he saw in shorts, on social media shorts. He'll occasionally see videos relating to Detective Comics.

And in one of those he talks to the Prince Of Hell, the Morningstar, Lucifer, like they are old acquaintances... They were based on the dialogue he heard... But still.

How in the hell did a mortal soul, if not special in some way, talk to Lucifer the Prince of Hell. The Father of Sin in many interpretations. Prideful in all of his ways, do a simple favor to a mortal... Well... Lucifer did that for John Constantine.

Which should tell you how fearsome, and gifted this malnourished boy is in the future... He needs to get close to him.

[ "A-absolutely!" ]

[ "Has to be... You are very gifted in this." ]

[ "Come here, let me borrow that wand I'll teach you some more." ]

John's eyes lit up in hearing those... But Felix's eyes are much brighter. To these two, this is a win-win scenario and both sides don't even know about it.

And so the training ensues.

[ "Y-yes! H-here." ]
