Chapter 137 - meeting Lyra

The days passed, and our family continued to work together to uncover more information about the young dragon's destiny and the prophecy. Tharros and Lyriath poured over ancient texts, searching for any mention of the young dragon's name or the symbol. Kaidorix helped gather information about Lyra and her connection to the Shadowfire elements.

One evening, as we sat in the cave, discussing our progress, Mother spoke up. "I think it's time we met with Lyra and discussed the prophecy. The elder has given us some information about her, and I believe she might be willing to work with us."

Father nodded in agreement. "Yes, let's arrange a meeting. We'll need to be cautious, though. We don't know much about Lyra's past or her motivations."

I volunteered to go with Father to meet Lyra, along with Lyriath and Kaidorix. Corvix, sensing our excitement, perked up and offered to come along as well.

As we set out to meet Lyra, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. What would she be like? Would she be willing to work with us to uncover the truth about the prophecy?

When we arrived at the designated meeting place, Lyra was already there, her eyes gleaming with a fierce intensity. "So, you're the ones who've been searching for me," she said, her voice firm.

Father smiled, extending a hand in greeting. "Yes, Lyra. We've been trying to uncover more information about the prophecy and your connection to it. We're willing to work together to understand what's happening."

Lyra's gaze narrowed, but she shook Father's hand. "I'm willing to listen. But I need to know what's at stake here. What do you know about the prophecy?"

We spent the next few hours discussing the prophecy and our findings. Lyra listened intently, asking pointed questions and sharing her own insights. As the sun began to set, we realized we'd need to continue our discussion another time.

"I'll work with you," Lyra said, her voice firm. "But I need to know I can trust you. Can you prove you're not just using me for your own purposes?"

Father's expression turned serious. "We understand your concerns, Lyra. We'll do everything we can to earn your trust. But we need your help to uncover the truth about the prophecy."

Lyra nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Alright, I'll work with you. But don't think for a second I'm doing this out of the goodness of my heart. I have my own reasons for wanting to understand the prophecy."

As we parted ways, I couldn't help but feel a sense of hope. Maybe, just maybe, we could work together to uncover the truth about the prophecy and the young dragon's destiny.

But as we walked back to the cave, Corvix spoke up, his voice low and serious. "I don't trust her. There's something about her that doesn't add up."

I glanced at Corvix, wondering if he was right. Was Lyra hiding something? Only time would tell.

I look at Kaidorix and whispers to him, "Can I talk to corvix alone?"

I glance at Kaidorix and whisper, "Can I talk to Corvix alone?"

Kaidorix raises an eyebrow, intrigued by my request. He leans in close and whispers back, "What's going on?" But after a moment, he nods and says, "Sure, I'll give you some space. Corvix, go with him...I mean Tharros."

Corvix tilts his head, curious, and follows me to a secluded spot. I ask, "What's bothering you about Lyra? You said you don't trust her, but what makes you think that?"

Corvix responds in a low tone, "I've been watching her, and something feels off. She's hiding something. Her emotions seem genuine, but there's a disconnect between her words and actions."

I press for more information. "What makes you think she's hiding something?"

Corvix's eyes gleam in the dim light. "I've seen her glance at ancient texts, lingering on certain passages. It's like she's searching for something specific, but she doesn't want us to know."

I study Corvix's expression. "Do you think she's a threat?"

Corvix's gaze locks onto mine. "I don't know yet, but I think we should be cautious."

I sighed. "How about you talk to Kaidorix about this while I've a talk to her alone!"

Corvix nods thoughtfully, seeming to consider my suggestion. "Alright, I'll discuss my concerns with Kaidorix. But be careful around Lyra, Tharros. Trust your instincts."

With that, Corvix heads back to Kaidorix, and I make my way to find Lyra, wondering what secrets she might be hiding and what our conversation will reveal.

I find Lyra sitting by a small stream, her eyes fixed on the flowing water. She looks up as I approach, a hint of curiosity in her expression.

"Tharros," she says, her voice neutral. "What can I do for you?"

I take a seat next to her, trying to read her demeanor. "I wanted to talk to you alone," I say, getting straight to the point. "About the prophecy and your involvement."

Lyra's gaze narrows slightly, but she nods. "Go on."

I study her reaction, searching for any hidden meaning behind her words. "What do you hope to gain from this?" I ask, my tone even.

Lyra's eyes flash with a hint of intensity, but she seems to rein it in, her expression smoothing out. "I want to understand the prophecy," she says. "And my place in it."

I sense there's more to it, but I'm not sure what. "And what makes you think you're connected to it?" I press on, intrigued.

Lyra's gaze drifts back to the stream, her eyes seeming to unfocus. "Let's just say I have my reasons," she says, her voice low.

The silence that follows is palpable, and I wonder what secrets she's keeping hidden.

I question, "Are hiding something? Do you know more about the young dragon? If you just want to want to know about it, just tell us what you know!"

Lyra's gaze snaps back to mine, her eyes flashing with a mix of emotions. For a moment, I think I see a glimmer of vulnerability, but it's quickly masked by a determined look.

"I'll tell you this, Tharros," she says, her voice low and measured. "I do know more about the young dragon than I'm letting on. But I'm not sure I'm ready to share it with anyone yet, not even you."

She pauses, her eyes searching mine. "Let's just say that my connection to the prophecy is... complicated. And I'm not sure I can trust anyone with the truth, not even those I think are on the same side."

Her words hang in the air, leaving me wondering what secrets she's keeping and what might happen if she doesn't share them.

I smiled. "You can tell me I won't tell anyone!"

Lyra raises an eyebrow, a hint of amusement dancing in her eyes. "You think I'd believe that? You seem like a decent person, but I've learned not to trust people easily."

Her words are laced with a hint of wariness, and I realize she's been hurt or betrayed before.

"I understand," I say, trying to reassure her. "But I'm willing to earn your trust. What do you need to know about me before you decide to share what you know?"

Lyra's gaze lingers on mine, and for a moment, I think I see a glimmer of consideration. "Tell me something about yourself," she says. "Something that shows me you're genuine."

I pause, thinking about what I can share with her. What will help her see that I'm trustworthy?

I sighed "look I do get angry sometimes and strong and powerful for a hatchling at my age, and I do get curious, and I do help Father a bit!"

Lyra's expression softens slightly, and a small smile plays on her lips. "You're honest, at least," she says. "I like that."

She pauses, collecting her thoughts before speaking again. "Alright, Tharros. I'll share something with you. But you have to promise me one thing: you'll be careful. There's more at play here than you realize."

Her eyes lock onto mine, and I sense a seriousness in her tone that makes me nod. "I promise. I'll be careful."

Lyra's gaze lingers on mine for a moment, as if assessing my sincerity. Then, she leans in closer, her voice barely above a whisper.

"The young dragon's destiny is tied to something much bigger than we initially thought," she says. "I've seen hints of it in the ancient texts, but I need more information to piece it together."

She pauses, glancing around cautiously before focusing on me again.

"There's a prophecy that speaks of a great imbalance, one that could threaten the entire realm. And I think the young dragon is at the center of it all."

Her words send a shiver down my spine. What kind of imbalance could be so catastrophic? And how is the young dragon connected to it?

I question, "What kind of imbalance?"

Lyra's expression turns grave, and she hesitates before responding.

"I don't know the specifics, but I've seen references to a disruption in the natural order," she says. "A shift in the balance of power that could have far-reaching consequences."

She pauses, collecting her thoughts before continuing.

"Some texts mention an ancient force, one that's been dormant for centuries. If it's awakening, it could change everything."

Her words are cryptic, but the seriousness in her tone makes me realize the gravity of the situation. What kind of ancient force could be powerful enough to disrupt the natural order? And what role will the young dragon play in all of this?

I lean in closer, my mind racing with questions. "What kind of ancient force are we talking about?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper.

Lyra's eyes seem to cloud over, as if she's searching for answers in her mind. "I'm not sure," she admits. "But I think it might be connected to the anomalies that have been appearing. The ones that are supposed to be linked to Val."

I feel a shiver run down my spine. "You think the anomalies are connected to this ancient force?"

Lyra nods. "I do. And if that's the case, then Val's role in all of this might be more crucial than we ever imagined."

We sit in silence for a moment, the weight of her words sinking in. What does it mean for Val, and for our world, if an ancient force is awakening? And what can we do to prepare for what's coming?

I question, "Do you think the young dragon will survive after defeating the anomalies?"

Lyra's expression turns somber, and she hesitates before responding. "According to the lore, it's uncertain," she says. "Some interpretations suggest that the young dragon's victory might come at the cost of their life. Others believe that if they're strong enough and receive the right support, they might survive."

She pauses, her eyes locking onto mine. "But one thing is clear: the young dragon will be forever changed by the experience. The question is, will they emerge victorious and alive, or will the cost be too great?"

Her words leave me wondering about Val's fate and what the future holds for the young dragon.

I sighed. "That because I ask you, do you think the young dragons will survive?"

Lyra's gaze lingers on mine, and for a moment, I sense a depth of emotion behind her eyes. "Honestly, Tharros," she says softly, "I hope so. I really do. But... I've seen the power of the anomalies firsthand, and I know how daunting the challenge will be for Val."

She pauses, collecting her thoughts before speaking again. "If anyone can do it, Val might. But ultimately, it's impossible to predict with certainty."

I question, "Do most of the dragons do think that it won't survive?" Lyra nodded.

"Most of the dragons I've spoken to are pessimistic about Val's chances," Lyra says. "They've seen the destruction caused by the anomalies and believe that no dragon, no matter how strong, could survive such a powerful force." She pauses, her expression thoughtful. "But I've also seen the determination in Val's eyes. If anyone can defy the odds, Val might."

I nod thoughtfully, considering Lyra's words. The weight of the situation settles in, and I realize that Val's fate hangs precariously in the balance. Despite the uncertainty, Lyra's faith in Val's determination offers a glimmer of hope.

"What can we do to help Val?" I ask, determination rising within me. "Is there any way to increase the odds of survival?"

Lyra's gaze meets mine, and for a moment, we share a resolute look. "I'll keep studying the ancient texts," she says. "Maybe there's something we've missed that could tip the scales in Val's favor."

Together, we might just find a way to defy the odds and ensure Val's survival. But time is running out, and the anomalies are growing stronger by the day.

I sighed, "Kaidorix and corvix, I know you are behind me and eavesdropping!"

Kaidorix and Corvix step forward, their faces lit with curiosity. "We weren't eavesdropping, Tharros," Kaidorix says with a hint of amusement. "We were just... providing backup."

Corvix nods in agreement. "We couldn't help but overhear. What's the plan to help Val?"

Their presence brings a sense of reassurance, and I realize that we're in this together. Now, it's time to come up with a strategy to support Val in the face of the anomalies.

I raise an eyebrow at Kaidorix's explanation, but the amusement in his eyes tells me he's not entirely serious. Corvix's nod of agreement only adds to the lighthearted moment.

"Alright, alright," I say with a chuckle. "No eavesdropping, just 'providing backup'."

I turn serious, focusing on the task at hand. "We need to come up with a plan to help Val. Lyra's been studying the ancient texts, but we need to think about what else we can do to increase the odds of survival."

The four of us form a tight circle, our minds racing with ideas and strategies. Together, we begin brainstorming ways to support Val in the face of the anomalies.

"Let's start with what we know," Lyra suggests, pulling out a small notebook filled with notes. "The ancient texts mention a ritual that might help Val tap into its inner strength. But we need to figure out how to perform it safely."

Kaidorix nods thoughtfully, his eyes narrowing in consideration. "I've heard of similar rituals in the past. Sometimes, having a strong emotional connection to the outcome can amplify the ritual's effects."

Corvix chimes in, her voice filled with concern. "And what about defensive strategies? We know the anomalies can cause massive destruction. Can we develop some sort of shield or protection for Val?"

As we continue to brainstorm, the ideas start flowing, each of us building upon the others' suggestions. Our plan begins to take shape, and I feel a sense of determination growing within me. We're in this together, and we'll do everything we can to help Val survive.

I sighed. "Father said that the young dragon is not even born yet and that we have more time!" Kaidorix and corvix nodded.

Lyra's expression turns thoughtful. "That's true, but the anomalies are growing stronger by the day. We can't afford to wait until Val is born to start preparing. Every moment counts, and the sooner we can put a plan in place, the better our chances of success will be."

Kaidorix and Corvix exchange a look, their faces set with determination. "We'll do whatever it takes to help Val," Kaidorix says, his voice firm. Corvix nods in agreement, her eyes burning with resolve.

I feel a surge of gratitude towards my friends. Together, we'll face whatever challenges lie ahead and do everything in our power to ensure Val's survival.

Kaidorix's younger face mirrors the resolve I feel, and I know he's just as committed to helping Val as I am. "We'll do whatever it takes to help Val," he says, his voice firm.

Corvix nods in agreement, her eyes burning with resolve as she pads softly beside Kaidorix. I feel a surge of gratitude towards my brother and Corvix. Together, we'll face whatever challenges lie ahead and do everything in our power to ensure Val's survival.

With renewed determination, we begin to brainstorm and discuss strategies to prepare for Val's arrival and the anomalies that will come with it. Lyra shares her knowledge of ancient rituals and spells that might help protect Val, while Kaidorix and I discuss ways to gather allies and resources to aid in the young dragon's survival.

Corvix listens intently, her eyes never leaving ours as she absorbs every detail. Occasionally, she interjects with a thoughtful comment or suggestion, her insight surprising me.

As the hours pass, our plan takes shape. We know it won't be easy, but with our combined strength and determination, we're ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead. Together, we'll do everything in our power to ensure Val's survival and thrive in a world torn apart by anomalies.

I question, "Do you guys know where the young dragon will be born?" They all shook there head.

"No one knows exactly where Val will be born," Lyra says, her brow furrowed in concern. "The prophecies only mentioned that it would be born in a place of great power, but that's a pretty vague description."

Kaidorix frowns, his eyes narrowing in thought. "We need to find out where Val will be born, and fast. If we're going to protect it, we need to be there."

Corvix lets out a low rumble, as if agreeing with Kaidorix's assessment. I nod, determination rising within me. We'll find out where Val will be born, and we'll be ready.

Lyra, take a deep breath and look at all 3 of us. "You do know that the young dragon said that it is about a little shorter than it, father, and that means it will be born big!" We all nodded.

Lyra's eyes widen slightly as she processes this information. "A dragon that size... born big, as in enormous?" she asks, her voice tinged with a mix of awe and concern.

We nod again, and Lyra's gaze drifts off, lost in thought. "That changes things," she murmurs. "If Val is going to be that large at birth... it will need an immense amount of energy and resources to sustain itself."

Kaidorix speaks up, his voice filled with determination. "We'll figure it out, Lyra. We'll find a way to support Val, no matter what it needs."

Lyra's expression turns thoughtful as she considers the implications of Val's enormous size. "We'll need to find a way to ensure that Val has access to a vast amount of food and resources," she says. "And we'll need to be prepared for the potential consequences of its birth, such as earthquakes, tremors, or other disturbances."

Kaidorix nods, his eyes locked on Lyra's. "We'll be ready," he says. "We'll do whatever it takes to support Val and help it thrive." Corvix lets out a soft rumble of agreement, her eyes fixed on Kaidorix.

I just realized something "wait how can we know when he'll be born anyway?!"

Lyra's eyes snap back into focus, and she smiles slightly. "The prophecies mentioned a significant event."

Kaidorix's eyes light up with understanding, and he glances at his older brother, Tharros.

I nod, feeling a sense of anticipation. We have 36 years until a major milestone. Val's future will unfold in its own time.

Lyra sighed. "I will go now, and it seems that is enough talking about the young dragon. You guys can continue your daily life, and I will continue the rest!"

With that, Lyra turned to leave, her figure disappearing into the distance as she went about her day. Kaidorix, Tharros, and I exchanged glances, understanding that our lives would continue as usual, with the knowledge of the prophecy lingering in the back of our minds. We nodded to each other and went our separate ways, each lost in our own thoughts.

Time passed, and Kaidorix and I grew closer, our bond strengthening as we explored the world around us, learning and adapting to our surroundings. Our days were filled with training, discovery, and play, as we enjoyed the freedom of being young dragons. We became more aware of our surroundings, our abilities growing stronger with each passing day. The prophecy, though still present in our minds, wasn't something we focused on daily. Instead, we lived in the moment, enjoying our youth and the world around us.

One day, as we were out exploring, we stumbled upon a hidden clearing. The sunlight filtering through the trees created a beautiful pattern on the ground, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers. We settled down, enjoying the peacefulness of the moment, our thoughts drifting to the future and what it might hold. The tranquility of the clearing was soothing, and we basked in the serenity, feeling carefree and content.

I walked towards Father and snuggled his right front leg.

Father's expression softened, and he gently nuzzled me with his snout, his albino scales glistening in the light. He wrapped his tail around me, holding me close, and I felt a deep sense of comfort and security in his presence.

"I'm glad you're happy, Tharros," he said, his voice low and soothing.

I smiled, feeling grateful for the love and support of my family. "Thank you, Father," I replied, my voice filled with affection. "I love spending time with you."

As I looked up at him, I thought to myself, He's always been so supportive and kind. I'm lucky to have him as my father.

I gave a childish smile, "and I love you and having your company and be there when I'm scared and overwhelmed and feel safe!"

Father's eyes sparkled with warmth, and he leaned in closer, his voice filled with emotion. "I'm always here for you, Tharros. You're never alone, and I'll always be here to protect and support you."

He wrapped his tail tighter around me, holding me in a gentle hug. "You know, being a dragon can be overwhelming at times, but you're strong and capable. Just remember, I'm always here to guide you through the tough times."

I nodded, feeling a sense of reassurance and comfort in his words. His presence made everything feel better, and I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, I could face them with him by my side.

As we stood there, wrapped in the warmth of the moment, I felt a sense of gratitude towards Father. His words and presence had a way of calming my nerves and making me feel more confident.

"Thank you, Father," I said, my voice filled with sincerity. "Your words mean a lot to me. I feel lucky to have you as my father."

Father smiled, his eyes shining with love and pride. "I'm the lucky one, Tharros. You and your siblings bring so much joy and light into my life. I'm grateful to be your father and to be able to share in your journey."

We stood there in comfortable silence for a moment, enjoying each other's company, before Father spoke up again. "Why don't we go find Mother and the others? I'm sure they're waiting for us."

I nodded enthusiastically, excited to spend time with the rest of the family. "That sounds like a great idea, Father! I'm sure Lyriath and Vyraxys are getting into some kind of mischief."

Father chuckled, his laughter rumbling deep within his chest. "I'm sure you're right, Tharros. Let's go see what kind of trouble they're getting into."

Together, we set off towards the area where the family usually gathered. As we walked, I asked Father about his day, and he told me about the new hunting grounds he had discovered. I listened intently, fascinated by his stories and adventures.

As we approached the gathering spot, I could hear the sounds of laughter and playful roars. My heart swelled with joy, and I quickened my pace, eager to join in on the fun.

As we arrived at the gathering spot, I was greeted by the sight of my siblings playing and laughing together. Lyriath and Vyraxys were indeed getting into mischief, chasing each other around in a game of tag. Mother was watching over them with a warm smile, while Kaidorix and Kieraxys were engaged in a fierce battle of wits, trying to outmaneuver each other. Niamon was giggling and playing with Lyrixa and Nyxoria.

The scene was filled with joy and laughter, and I couldn't help but grin from ear to ear. Father and I joined in, and soon we were all playing and laughing together.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way back to our home in the mountain cave. The warm glow of the setting sun cast a golden light on the rocky walls as we settled in for the night.

Father wrapped his wings around us, and I snuggled up under his wing, feeling safe and protected. The sound of gentle breathing and soft rustling of scales filled the cave as my siblings drifted off to sleep.

"Goodnight, Tharros," Father whispered, his voice soothing.

"Goodnight, Father," I replied, already drifting off to sleep, surrounded by the warmth and comfort of our mountain home.
