"Then I'll stand beside you."
He said.
"Even if the world burns."
His face was carved from stone, his golden eyes burning under the low firelight. But when he looked at me, really looked, there was something else there.
Worry.
Relief.
Guilt.
I swallowed hard. My throat was dry, like I hadn't spoken in years, but I forced the words out.
"How did you know?"
I rasped, my voice cracking.
"All this time... all these things about me. About... My wolf, my power, wjo I was? How did you know when nobody ever mentioned anything to me, nit ftom my old pack, or shadow walker pack elders.... Nlt even my parent, h- how did you know this side of ne?"
I clenched the sheets in my fists.
"How come you knew, when I didn't even have a clue about any of it? Not even Alpha Aric, he raised me after my parents died. He never... he never told me anything. Not a damn thing!"
My voice broke at the end, a sharp edge slicing through the room. I hated how small I sounded. How betrayed.
