Camila's POV
"I failed you. Not once. But a hundred times over. I let my fear speak louder than my heart. And if all I can do now is burn for your revenge, I'll do it gladly."
His voice broke.
"But if there's even a part of you that can believe I've changed, then let me help you protect what's ours."
I looked at him.
Really looked.
And for once, I saw no masks.
Only the boy who loved me when we were children. And the man who now knelt, not as a warrior, but as someone asking to be forgiven.
I still wasn't sure.
But I was tired of standing alone.
So I whispered: "Then swear it. On this child's life. You will never betray us again."
He bowed his head to my stomach.
"I swear."
Sasha thought her real child would end the war.
She had no idea a real one had just been conceived to burn her kingdom down.
I never planned to die.
But sometimes… a good death is the best beginning.
