Erica sat in the library, flipping through her novel while keeping an eye on the door. She had been avoiding Dolly all day and wasn't about to break her streak. It wasn't personal—okay, maybe it was. Being a jerk was just second nature to her, no apologies.
The chair across from her scraped against the floor, and someone sat down. Annoyance flared. She sighed heavily and stuffed her ear pods in. Whoever it was could take a hint.
A knock on the table made her groan. Without looking up, she muttered, "This is a library. Please go bother someone else."
